I want to start off by saying I am muslim and have studied islam closely. So I won't mince my words and try to be politically correct. For non muslims here I would also like to clarify that what you see portrayed as islam in tv is absoLutely distorted and warped.
To start off I like the fact that this show is taking some measure to bring forth an accurate portrayal of a pious muslim girl in kainaat . Ppl here might think of her as regressive or a product of her upbringing. But the truth is the way she dresses is an actual guideline prepared by islam and is supported by our holy book and hadiths. Firstly ,Covering of the head is not an "option" in islam. It is mandatory and is prescribed in both the Quran and hadith. Of course it is your personal choice as to whether you want to do it or not. It is optional in the sense that you don't care enough to do it. But if you are deeply pious and love Allah you would because it is a direct command in the Quran itself. Dressing modestly and in a way that does not call attention to yourself is again a very very integral part of islam . It is necessary and again not optional. Kainaat has been shown and portrayed as a proper muslimah in the way she dresses. The fact that she wakes up for early morning fajr prayer, offers namaaz also drives home the fact that she believes in islam and follows it wholeheartedly. If that is true it is unlikely that she would plot or lie in the future because both are major sins in islam. And she has been portrayed as a true follower who believes Allah won't let her down in her faith and will take revenge on behalf of her. It is true muslims usually leave their grudges up to Allah and hope for justice from him alone.
Saltanat however has been portrayed as borderline atheistic if I dare say so. Not that it is a problem. From her blatant disregard for any of the teachings of islam to the way she does not offer namaz . And no, praying in front of dargah does not count as namaz. It is not a part of islam and is actually considered to be a malpractice. However what I like is that she is self aware and knows that she or her ammi does not apply the teachings of islam in their life as said by herself. I wanted to put this in the forum because I don't want anyone contorting islam and it's teachings to portray saltanat as a better muslimah. Her beliefs are her own and i respect that. But I have a feeling that in an attempt to prove her as great they will invent or twist islamic teachings that have no backing in actual islam and i don't want that.
P.S. Miyajaan was wrong. Women do have the right to pray in mosques and it was a right explicitly mentioned by our prophet (peace be upon him).0
