Please note: this is for people who watch Skr without having read the original version of Ramayan.

Lakshman after parityaag by ram does jal samadhi in sarayu river and he does not behead himself as shown in Skr. Samadhi and suicide are completely two different words. Expect for the fact they start with 'S' they are poles apart in meaning.
Suicide in today's world is common. Don't go about saying even in Ramayan, so and so committed suicide. Be assured it is not suicide but samadhi.
Suicide is something, people do without having completed their worldly duties. Lakshman had completed all his worldly duties to the fullest how can that even be termed like that?
If you are going to tell me he had duty towards urmila. Let me tell you urmila dies a suhaagan.

Samadhi is spiritual liberation. a state of intense concentration achieved through meditation. In yoga this is regarded as the final stage, at which union with the divine is reached (before or at death).

They did a big blunder by showing lakshman committing suicide !!!!

By doing suicide , no one attains moksha/salvation .

Suicide and Samadhi has a very big difference.

And showing a Lord comitting suicide is a big insult and also it's way wrong and can'tbe ignored.

This is what happens when cv's try to show Ramayan as an over modernised version. The beauty of Ramayan is that even in this modern age you can still relate to it, it's still relevant. So why try so hard to fit it into modern life and change the meaning of it all together. Makes no sense now.

What I don't understand is, shouldn't a modern POV on the story teach people not to commit suicide, instead of showing it like it's the answer to life's problems?

Suicide is so much more common now than it used to be. It's a legit problem in society, and as a psychologist I know how much people struggle with suicidal ideation. It's very disturbing, and not something that should be taken lightly.

It always disturbs me how callously and sometimes jokingly Indian TV treats suicide. There are tracks in shows where characters try to commit suicide and it's either laughed at or forgotten. It's such a horrible situation. There's nothing funny or light about it.

So it's legit disturbing when even mytho shows show it like it's normal, like it's encouraged.

Ram, Lakshman and Sita, as divine beings, should teach society that suicide is not the way to go, to find the strength within and learn to live, no matter how difficult it is. That is what our society needs right now.

What will youngsters learn, seeing Ram, Sita and Lakshman constantly bringing a knife to their throat after every stressful event? 🤢 They will think, even God was suicidal, so that must mean it's the proper response to life's problems.

Being a modern POV show, I really expected SKR to fight such problems, not to feed into them, and treat suicide as such a big joke.

Thanks for this thread!
The fact of the matter is, people are going to have an incorrect opinion of the epic, and are going to question the morals of the story, with the so-called suicide of Lakshman.
The correct order of events is the deaths of the sisters, and then the Parityaag and then the brothers taking Samadhi.
By showing the sisters alive, they are basically making people believe that the brothers were leaving behind the sisters, and therefore their responsibilities, and leaving, when in reality they had finished all that they had to, all their duties, before actually taking samaadhi, which, as you rightly pointed out, is very very different from suicide
