CHAPTER TWO - SECRETS AND REVELATIONS UNMASKED

**************************************

His breathing was ragged, the anxious breaths seemingly resounding in his ears. He was not even aware that ten minutes had elapsed since he hit the button to still the elevator, the silent sanctuary of the small compartment only serving to enhance the loud, heart wrenching screams in his mind.

"Siya is dying?" - he muttered to himself, his fingers gripping his hair tighter as the tears continued to spot his black waistcoat- "How is this possible? And my children? My babies? My little boys. I didn't know about them?"

His shoulders began to shake once more, another agonizing scream leaving him. He couldn't think of it. He couldn't think about his Siya dying. He couldn't think about the precious time he had already lost with his children. Yes. They were his sons. He could not deny it nor blemish her honour in denouncing them for they bore his resemblance. His eyes. His nose. Even the black strands of his hair! Why did she keep them a secret from him! Was he a monster for her to commit such an atrocious act!

His thoughts were becoming progressively chaotic and he unbuttoned the collar button of his shirt. It was all stifling. He was suffocating, suffocating in agony and torment at his cruel fate.

"She could have told me!"- he screamed in the empty elevator but even as the words left his lips, he knew she would have never approached him. Not after that night. Not after that dark, poisonous night in Dubai... The memories which he kept caged in his heart flashed across his mind regardless of his efforts to bury them, his hand balling into fists by his side as the voices resounded in his mind.

"SIYA!! SIYA YOU WILL NOT WALK AWAY FROM ME!!! DO YOU HEAR ME!!!"- he shouted furiously at her, his footsteps falling heavily on the marble floor of the luxurious penthouse as he hurried to her- "SIYA!!!"-he grabbed onto her arm but no sooner did his fingers grip her skin, she pulled her arm away, her furious, unforgiving eyes holding his equally furious gaze.

"DO NOT TOUCH ME!!!! IF YOU DO NOT TRUST ME THEN YOU HAVE NO DAMN RIGHT TO TOUCH ME!!! STAY AWAY FROM ME!!!"- she bellowed at him and he could see her struggling to keep her voice firm and strong. "YOU HAVE LOST YOUR /RIGHT/ TO SPEAK TO ME!! DO YOU UNDERSTAND!! YOU ONCE EARNED MY LOVE BUT TODAY YOU DO NOT EARN IT ANYMORE!!!"

"NO I HAVEN'T LOST MY RIGHT TO YOU!!"- he shouted back at her but she did not even flinch at his ferocious tone- "I HAVE NOT! YOU ARE MISUNDERSTANDING EVERYTHING! I TRUST YOU SIYA!!!"

"NO YOU DON'T!!! LOOK AT THE PAPERS RAM!! LOOK AT IT!!!"- she slammed the paper she was holding into his chest but he made no move to take it since the words were ingrained in his mind- "IF YOU TRUSTED ME THEN YOU WOULD NOT HAVE DONE THIS! EVERYONE IS SCORNING MY NAME AND SAYING THOSE WRETCHED THINGS ABOUT ME BECAUSE YOU HAVE GIVEN THEM THE CHANCE TOO!"

"No I haven't!"- he countered defensively- "Siya I don't know what I was thinking. I was just... I was just so"damn it! I don't know what made me do it but I am regretting it! Just believe me!"

She stared at him quietly while he struggled and failed to defend his actions, the emotional hurt and pain which he had dealt upon her raging in her brown eyes. "I don't believe you."- she said testily, her every word like a dagger to his heart. "And I am not forgiving you for this!"

"SIYA YOU CAN'T SACRIFICE OUR MARRIAGE OVER SOMETHING LIKE THIS!! I AM SPEAKING THE TRUTH! I TRUST YOU!!"- he shouted, his patience extinguished as pure desperation dominated his actions. He grasped onto her arms and pulled her closer to him, the torment he was enduring at their crumbling relationship burning in his intense gaze- "Siya, you have been my strength since my parent's death. You have been there for me. I can't lose you." - he said emotionally but she stepped away from him, his hand falling dejectedly to his side at the unforgiving tint in her eyes.

"Then you should have trusted me."- she said with cold finality- "You should have trusted me Ram. This is only making me wonder of the many other times you probably doubted me as well---"

"Siya no, I never doubted you---"

"God enough!"- she screamed at him, the tears leaving her eyes then- "Enough! We're over."- she said steadily, her cold words shattering his heart to a million painful pieces. "We're done. Just stay away from me."

He remained rooted to the spot, shell shocked as she walked away from him and slammed the door behind her, the breaths leaving him raggedly while he tried to process what had happened.

He did not know how long he remained standing there, grappling with the reality before him but soon his feet was carrying him out of the penthouse and down the driveway, an anguished scream leaving him while the limousine drove out of the luxurious driveway- "SIYAAA!!!!"-he screamed after the car but it did not stop. It moved further away from him and with it, his happiness also left him.

He squeezed his eyes shut, the memories threatening to drown him in their haunting depths and in that moment he stood and punched the button of the elevator to make it move once more. He needed air. He needed to think. He needed to see his brother. He wanted to meet his children. He wanted to see Siya. All of those thoughts churned in his mind as the elevator doors opened to the parking lot and he stumbled out onto the pathway, the beads of sweat travelling down his face while he forced himself to walk to one of his cars there.

However, he came to a paralyzed stop when he saw Siya exiting the other elevator with their children, the boys asking her a string of questions while they walked down the pathway, away from him.

"Mama, papa didn't want to see us?"- One of the twins was asking her sadly.

"Mama you ok? Mama please..stop cry.."- the other twin said and Ram immediately took a step towards them when Siya paused and kneeled in front of them, her palms touching their cheeks with motherly affection.

"I am not crying Kushal... Mama is not crying."- she tried to say with a smile but even from the distance, Ram could see the tears biting her eyes- "Luv, your papa is a busy man. We shouldn't have come here. But don't worry. When mama has to go to the hospital in a few days, your grandpa and grandma will take care of you."

"I want come with you."- Luvan spoke up immediately, Ram's heart crying at the sorrow in his son's voice. "Mama, please."

"I come too Mama."- Kushal said as well and him and his brother moved to hug their mother close, the tears of anguish and anger pooling in Ram's eyes while he stared at their emotional interaction.

"You will visit your mama.."- Siya told them with a sad smile but Ram could hear her voice cracking in anguish. That was it. He proceeded towards them, his red gaze glued to them as his powerful voice graced the surroundings.

"Siya!"- he shouted, her head immediately snapping to his direction at his serious voice. Immediately she stood, Kushal and Luvan holding onto her hand tightly as Ram came to a stop in front of them.

"Ram.."- she said steadily but she stopped short when his eyes lowered to their children and she could see he was aching to meet them.

"Where are you taking my children!"- he snapped at her, her expression immediately becoming serious at his rough tone, which was borne out of the chaos of emotions that were raging with him- "I want my children!" -he took a step towards them but she moved the two boys behind her much to his surprise and anger, her eyes flashing furiously at him.

"Don't you dare come close to them without my permission."- she all but gritted out- "I brought them to meet you, I laid my heart bare to you and you just left us!"

"WHAT DID YOU EXPECT ME TO DO!"- he shouted but he immediately regretted his tone when his children hugged Siya tighter, their eyes lingering on him nervously- "No... Luv... Kush papa didn't mean to shout---"- he began but they looked away from him, clearly afraid of him. "Do you see what you have caused?"- he told her bitterly, his furious gaze holding her equally furious eyes- "They don't know me. They're afraid of me!"

"Shut up!"- Siya snapped at him angrily- "I regret coming here!"

"Oh do you!"- he retorted as he took a step closer to her- "How do I even know you are telling the truth huh! You come here and tell me you are suffering from a terminal illness and you expect me to just believe you! You are a strong healthy woman!"- he said emotionally, a part of him hoping that his words were true even though his conscience was screaming at him that it wasn't. "You are strong!"

"Maybe I was broken the moment you doubted my love for you."- she countered quietly, her words striking him powerfully- "This was a mistake. Forget I came here."

"Siya.."- Ram began but she turned away from him- "Siya I deserve an explanation!"- he grasped onto her arm but his eyes immediately widened in horror when he saw the blood that was leaving one of her nostrils. "What...Si"Siya!"- he gasped out as he cupped her cheeks, Siya lowering her gaze as she touched the blood that was leaving her nose. "No! Siya what's happening!"- he screamed in anguish but she gripped onto the front of his waistcoat, his arm wrapping around her waist protectively to support her as her knees grew weak.

"Mama!"- Luv and Kush cried out as they touched her dress but she stared at Ram, the single tear leaving her eyes as the blood began to drip onto his clothes.

"Siya!"- he gasped out again as he gripped her face tighter.

"Ram---I-"- she gulped while she tried to use all of her strength to fight her weakness but it was proving to be futile. "I feel weak..."- she muttered, the tears leaving his eyes as he sank to the floor with her, a tsunami of sorrow crashing in him while his children cries began to touch his ears. "Ram.."

"I am calling for help Siya! I am calling for help!"- he said in a rush as he hurried to remove the phone from his pocket. However it slipped from his trembling fingers but before he could reach for it, Kushal picked it up and held it out for him, his heart shattering continuously in agony at the sorrow in his innocent face. The tears left his eyes as he took the phone, his frantic voice resounding in the car park while he spoke to the medics. With help on its way, he disconnected the call, his tears hitting her face as he stared into her drowsy gaze with heart wrenching sorrow. "Siya, please... Stay awake with me."- he told her emotionally, the tears leaving her eyes freely even as she tried to touch his face."

"Ram..."- she muttered weakly, her gaze shifting to her children as they touched her arms- "Our babies... Ram... Our sons.."

He held onto her hand, his tearful gaze landing on his children who were holding onto their mother like a lifeline.

"They're with us Siya."- he tried to say firmly but his voice cracked with the anguish that was gripping his heart.

Everything else was blur. From the ride to the hospital, to the medics wheeling her into the emergency room, to the doctors speaking to him. Everything was blur because his every thought was only focused on seeing her again, on speaking to her, hearing her voice, seeing the life in her eyes which fate was trying to snatch from him.

Now, he was seated on the long bench outside of her room, awaiting news of her health. Luvan and Kushal had fallen asleep on either side of him and his gaze was focused intently on them, his eyes memorizing every little feature on their faces. How was he ever going to get back the time he lost with them?

His thoughts were interrupted when Siya's phone, which was in possession now along with her bag, began to vibrate on the bench. He knew he was invading her privacy but checking the messages on her phone but curiosity got the better of him and he picked it up, pure fury igniting in his dark gaze at the messages there.

His eyes lingered on the name in particular that was illuminating the screen with each message that came in, his grip tightening on the phone with menacing anger. "Lankesh..."- he gritted out, the fire of envy which had raged in his heart all those years ago now burning in his every being once more- "He is still messaging my Siya? Her family is still friends with him after everything?"- he muttered with incredulity. Desperate to see all of the messages, he swiped the phone, his eyes focused intently on the code he had to type in. The last time, her code was a combination of their wedding date. Did she change it?

Trying his luck, he typed in the numbers and to his great surprise, he was granted access. She kept the code. He thought in disbelief but he did not allow his thoughts to linger on it. Instead, he went into her whatsapp, his jaw clenching in anger at Lankesh's name on top of her message list. With some level of fury, he clicked on the chat and saw it was a new chat for there weren't any messages before. With a slow breath, he read the messages.

"Siya are you there? I know I am messaging out of the blue but I saw you today and I didn't get a chance to say hi."

"Are you still angry at me Siya? I know I was wrong. I know you trusted me."

"Siya please answer me. Listen, I still consider you a friend. You are my childhood friend yaar. I still like you."

Ram's eyes paused then, his furious red gaze focused on the words on the screen. Feeling his anger getting the better of him, he slammed the phone down on the bench and hugged his children closer, a shuddering breath leaving him.

"Lankesh..."- he gritted out, his voice trembling from the anger that was raging ferociously within him. Three years ago that /despicable man/ was the reason why his marriage had fallen apart and now he was still in their lives.

He needed answers. Why was Lankesh still messaging Siya when Siya had not even spoken to him, Ram, in three years? Why was he still in their lives! Was he still trying to take his Siya from him? Ram thought with mounting anger.

I spared him three years ago. Ram thought with menacing anger. But I am not going to spare him again.

CHAPTER THREE- AN ENEMY DRAWS NEAR.
*******************************

The sound of the machines continuously touched Ram's ears from where he was seated on the chair next to Siya's bed. She was still unconscious, trapped in a deep slumber from the medications they injected into her body as well as her own weakening health. Their children were now sleeping on the couch in the room and he was unsure if he should have woken them to have lunch since it was now nearing 1pm. But a part of him knew they would not have wanted anything to eat since their mother was unwell. From the little interaction he saw between the twins and their mother, he could see that they loved her immensely.

His grip tightened on her hand and unconsciously, he kissed the inside of her wrist, his heart purely dominating his actions for his mind was wrapped around so many thoughts. His broken marriage, Siya's illness, the fact the Lankesh was still in their lives, it was all becoming too overwhelming. He still did not contact her parents about her admission in the hospital since he knew the moment they arrived, he would be forced to leave her side. He also did not inform Lakshman since he knew his brother had his own responsibilities to take care of with Urmilla being pregnant and ill that morning. Yet he knew Lakshman would be furious that he did not inform him about what happened. However, at the moment, he was willing to accept his brother's wrath if it meant that he would have some more time with Siya. He wanted to be there when she woke up. He needed to speak to her. This was not where their journey was going to end. In fact, he was certain that their paths had crossed for a reason.

As the minutes ticked by, his thoughts ventured to the first time he met her four years ago. Even though his heart had denied it at the time, the first time his eyes beheld her, she had completely imprisoned him from that moment and to that day...he was not free from her love.

Flashback

Mithila horse racing track and park. Four years ago.

The sound of the hooves vibrated in his ears as he willed his horse to go faster. One of the other riders was nearing him but he knew his horse had the sheer power and strength to emerge victorious in the race.

"Come on Poseidon! Come on!!"- he urged his white stallion, the creature hearing his encouragement and following his order- "Good boy! Come on!! Let's win this Poseidon! Come on!!"- he encouraged his horse eve more and sure enough, Poseidon ran even faster, a victorious smile gracing his face at they neared the finish line.

"YES BHAIYA!!!! COME ON BHAIYA!!!!"- his brothers cheered him on the sidelines.

"COME ON RAM!!!! JUST A LITTLE BIT MORE!!"- Lakshman shouted, his girlfriend Urmilla glancing at him with a bored expression at his energetic behaviour before she returned her eyes to her phone. To put it simply, she did not have interest in horse racing and would have much preferred to spend the day at the beach. Instead, her stupid boyfriend had dragged her to the stupid high society family day just so that they could see his elder brother partake in the archery and horse racing competitions.

"RAM BHAIYA!!! YOU CAN WIN THIS BHAIYA!!!"- Bharat shouted happily, Satraughan punching the air victoriously when Ram crossed the finish line, the crowd erupting into applause at his victory.

"And the winner is Ram Suryavanshi with a record time of 9 mins and 30 seconds!! Congratulations to the Survayanshi family!"- the announcer said gleefully. Ram dismounted his house with a small smile before he moved to touch the creature's nose, a soft sigh leaving him as he touched his forehead on the horse's head even as the crowd continued to applaud his victory.

"Well done boy. You did great!"- Ram told the horse happily, Poseidon neighing at his words. "You are the best Poseidon!!!"

"Bhaiya!! Bhaiya you won!!"- his brothers joyous voice touched his ears, his laughter gracing the surroundings when they tackled him into a hug. "Congrats bhaiya!!"

"Thank you!"- he replied happily as he hugged them close, his joyous eyes meeting their gleeful eyes when they parted the hugs.

"Bhaiya that was awesome!"- Lakshman exclaimed energetically, Ram chuckling at his outburst as he removed the gloves from his hand, the cool wind ruffling his long hair attractively.

"I think your girlfriend was a bit bored though Lakshman."- Ram said teasingly, Lakshman scoffing at his words as his eyes drifted to Urmilla who was now speaking to a group of girls seated on a blanket on the lawn under the shade of a tree off the racing track.

"I don't care. She always has mood swings."- Lakshman replied a bit haughtily- "If she continues to irritate me, I will dump her."

"Oh please, you are crazy about her! That is why you call her 20 times for the day!"- Satraughan piped in teasingly, his protests immediately ringing out in the surroundings when Lakshman grasped onto his head in a playful chokehold and ruffled his hair messily.

"Shut up punk!"- Lakshman shouted, Ram and Bharath shaking their head at their brothers behaviour with amused smiles.

"Mandhvi didn't come Bharath?"- Ram asked him with a knowing smile, the blush immediately colouring Bharath's face at his words.

"Bhaiya...she said she will come later. Actually she scares me a bit."- he confessed with a hint of anxiety, Ram chuckling at his amusing words.

"And Shrutakhirti?"- Satraughan said excitedly as he pushed Lakshman away from him- "Is Sruthi coming too bhaiya? Tell Mandhvi to bring her sister too!"

"Satraughan behave yourself. If you like Sruthi then you should just message her yourself."- Lakshman said with a wicked smile which succeeded in making Satraughan glare at him.

"Bhaiya... is Poseidon hurt?"- Bharath said in concern when he noticed a few spots of blood littering the floor. Ram immediately looked at his horse, pure fiery concern overcoming his every expression as he quickly kneeled to the floor and checked his horse's feet.

"He has a bruise." Ram said as he tapped his pockets for a handkerchief- "Do you all have any handkerchiefs? Someone call the vet now!"- he said with urgency but he stopped short when Poseidon stepped away from them and began to gallop to the group of girls whom Urmilla was speaking to. "Poseidon! Poseidon come here!"- Ram called after him as he hurried after the horse.

Two minutes later, Poseidon came to a stop by the girls on the blanket, his black gaze focused intently on the pair of kind eyes that looked at him first, the concern in the woman's eyes mirroring that of his master Ram.

"That's Ram's horse."- Urmilla spoke up upon recognizing the stallion- "Siya be careful. He doesn't know you."

"He is not going to hurt me."- Siya said as she stood from the blanket and approached the horse, her eyes softening as she touched his nose with comforting tenderness. "Hello? You have wandered away from your master, yaar."- she said with a small smile. Poseidon neighed as her words and tapped his foot on the ground causing Siya to look at his injured foot, her eyes immediately widening in concern when she saw the bruise on his feet. "You're hurt! Oh my god!"- she exclaimed. Without a second thought, she removed the floral scarf she was wearing over her baby blue skater dress and she immediately kneeled next to the horse and proceeded to wrap the scarf around his leg.

"Poseidon! I told you to stop!"- the stern but concerned voice touched her ears and she immediately looked at its deliverer, her eyes softening at the concern that was on the man's handsome face as he came to stop next to them. "Poseidon." Ram touched the side of his horse before he looked at the woman who was tending to him, his eyes softening ever so slightly as his dark gaze fell upon her beautiful face. He felt his heart skip a beat and he did not even know why but in that moment, he simply could not look away from the enchanting depths of her beautiful brown doe shaped eyes.

"Poseidon. Is that his name?"- she spoke up firmly and he immediately averted his gaze from her with a small gulp before he knelt beside her, his eyes softening when he saw she had wrapped her scarf over the bruise on Poseidon's foot.

"Yes. He just won a race. If I knew he had gotten hurt during it I would have stopped racing."- he said with palpable regret, her eyes lingering on him quietly as he leaned closer to his horse as though silently offering his apologies to the creature. "He was gift from my parents. I would never want to hurt him." -he said quietly, her eyes softening even more at his emotional words.

"I am sure he is going to be fine."- she said as she stood, Ram looking up at her before he stood as well.

"My brothers are calling the vet."- he explained before he looked in the distance where his brothers were indeed speaking on the phone with the vet on loud speaker. "Poseidon. The vet will be here soon. Don't worry."- he told the horse gently, Poseidon nuzzling his palm at his words.

"He really likes you too."- Siya said with a small smile. Urmilla glanced at the other girls while Ram and Siya conversed with each other, the girls recognizing that there was something brewing between the two young people even though the two people did not even recognize it.

"Thank you for caring for him."- Ram said as he took a step closer to Siya and held out his hand- "I'm Ram. Ram Suryavanshi."

"My name is Siya. Siya Raichand."- she said with a small smile as she returned his handshake.

"Raichand.."- Ram said thoughtfully- "Your family owns this racetrack and park then? And the restaurant and bakery chains?"

"Yes.."- she said with a small nod- "And your family owns the steel company."- she said with a knowing smile.- "I believe your company and papa's company were going to form a partnership on the restaurant chains."

"Yes..."- he replied simply, a part of him a bit shocked that he had only now met the daughter of the man he recently had a number of meetings with.

"I am sorry about what happened to your parents."- she said as they released each other's hands, Ram momentarily lowering his gaze at her condolences. His parents death a year ago was highly publicized so he wasn't surprised she knew about it once she knew who he was. He gave her a small nod in reply before he looked at Poseidon and stroked the horse's smooth white fur.

"Bhaiya the vet is on his way!"- he heard Lakshman say and they immediately looked at his brothers when the three young men came to a stop by them. "Urmy.."- Lakshman looked at Urmilla who gave him a small smile before she approached him, his arm draping around her shoulder as he placed a soft kiss on her temple. "Urmy we can go to the beach after the vet checks on Poseidon. Ok?"

"No Lakshu..."- Urmilla said as she touched his cheek- "We will go home with Ram bhaiya and the others when they are leaving too. I am also worried about Poseidon."- she said sincerely, his eyes softening in affection at her words.

"Bhaiya do you see why I love her."- Lakshman said with a grin as he hugged Urmilla closer, Ram's lips curling up with a small smile while he stared at the young couple. Siya grinned at the antics of the young couple for even though she had only met Urmilla, the girl seemed like a very cheerful and fun loving girl and her boyfriend was obviously madly in love with her. She spared a glance at Ram and could see the affection and care he had for his brothers from the simply way he looked at them. He had to be a very strong person, she knew that, because he had to shoulder the responsibilities of his family after his parent's death.

"Thank you again Siya."- Ram told her with a small smile as he looked back at her. With a small nod, he held onto Poseidon's back strap, his eyes lingering on hers for a moment longer before he together with Poseidon, Urmilla and his brothers walked away from her and her friends.

That night in Poseidon's stable, Ram held onto the floral scarf, a small smile playing on his face while he remembered the encounter with the girl, Siya. Poseidon was happily snacking on apples and he looked at his horse from where his back was braced against Poseidon's stomach, a soft sigh leaving him as he braced his cheek against the soft white fur. "Yaar... Why did you run to her huh?"- he said with a small smile as he touched Posiedon's silky white mane. "Did you see something special about her?"

Poseidon neighed at his words and continued eating his apples, a light chuckle leaving Ram as his gaze returned to the floral scarf. "She's pretty..."- he tried to say casually, Poseidon grumbling at his words. "Ok fine she is gorgeous yaar. Don't be angry at me for getting it wrong."- he corrected himself with a lightly laugh as he looked back at the horse who continued to eat his apples happily. "Siya.."- he muttered to himself, the joy lingering in his eyes while he continued to stare at her floral scarf.

Three days later, he was proceeding along the busy street of Mumbai when he saw that the new luxurious bakery was now open. "Slow down! Stop!"- he told the driver immediately upon noticing that it was a bakery that belonged to the Raichands for it bore their emblem. The driver brought the sleek black limousine to a stop at his command, Ram's eyes lingering on the sign as his heartbeats quickened their dance in his chest. As though the heavens were smiling down at him, in that moment, Siya pulled up in front of them in her sleek white Audi, his eyes widening slightly in shock when he saw her exiting the car and making her way to the bakery. She was dressed in an elegant dark blue dress that fell above her knees with black louis vuitton heels to compliment her outfit. Her every demeanor exuded confidence and authority and his dark gaze followed her as she flicked her long wavy brown hair over her shoulder before she removed the Gucci shades from her eyes. "Stay here."- he told the bodyguards who were with him in the limo before he exited the vehicle and proceeded to the bakery as well.

A few seconds later he entered the bakery, his dark gaze surveying the surroundings before he saw her standing by the counter, speaking to the cashier there. With an air of casualty, he approached the counter as well and cleared his throat. At the sound, Siya glanced at his direction, a hint of shock trickling into her eyes when she saw him standing next to her. The moment her beautiful eyes fell upon him, he drank in their beauty as he removed his own shades from his eyes, Siya's lips curling up with smile as she pointed to his face.

"Ram right?"- she said knowingly and he nodded as he buried his hand in his pocket while he touched his black tie with a small smile. "What brings you here?"- she queried curiously, her question immediately stumping him. Damn! What excuse could he give for being in a /bakery/!- he thought with a hint of panic, his hand sliding into the long strands of his hair while he pretended to looked at the elegantly decorated cupcakes and muffins in the display glass.

"Umm Lakshman."- he began casually as he looked back at her- "He loves cupcakes and told me to pick some up for him before I return to the office."- he finished off simply, a light chuckle leaving Siya at his words.

"Oh he is a little spoiled brat then."- she said teasingly, Ram shrugging innocently at her jest.

"I didn't know you were going to be here.."- he spoke the little white lie with some difficulty.

"I was just making sure everything was progressing smoothly here before I returned to the office too.."- she explained, a silent oh' leaving his lips. "But I should be going now. Papa is expecting me. It was nice to see you again Ram. I hope Lakshman likes the cupcakes. " -she said with a kind smile and he gave her a small nod in reply, his eyes following her as she made her way to the door. "Umm Siya!"- he called after her impulsively and she immediately turned around at his voice, her eyes holding his with curiousity. "The charity ball tonight at the Camptons. Is your family attending?"

"Oh yeah.."-she said conversationally- "What about you?"

"Yeah my brothers and I will be attending too."- he said as he moved closer to her- "We should exchange numbers in case we don't see each other in the crowd. What do you say?"

"Sounds good yaar."- she said as she removed her phone from her bag and gave it to him- "You store yours and I will store mine in yours." She said with a smile, Ram nodding in agreement as he took her phone and stored his number in it while she did the same in his. "Well maybe I will see you tonight yaar."- she said as she returned the phone to him.

"Yeah. We will see.."- he replied with an easy.

"Ok see you then Ram."- she gave him a small wave before she left the bakery, his eyes following her as she entered her white audi and drove away.

That night, he saw a vision of ethereal beauty which he knew he would never be able to forget for the rest of his life. Dressed elegantly in a long flowing red dress with her hair styled in wavy curls cascading beautifully down the exposed skin of her back, he had remained rooted on the spot while his eyes drank in her bewitching beauty as though she was the siren's call to his heart.

Siya had also felt her heart skip a beat when her eyes fell upon him in the party, for he was dressed handsomely in a black tuxedo with his long hair slicked back neatly on his head and the neat stubble peeping out his cheeks which gave him a slightly rugged look which she found surprisingly attractive.

That night they shared their first dance together and it signaled the beginning of their friendship, a friendship which immediately began to heal the sorrow his parents death had dealt upon his life.

End flashback

"You looked so beautiful..."- he muttered to himself as he gripped her hand tighter. "I still have the picture I sneakily took of you that night.." He bowed his head, a shaky sigh leaving him until he felt her fingers closing in on his hand. His eyes immediately snapped to her face, the relief striking his heart when he saw she was opening her eyes slowly, her shifty gaze soon focusing on him. She stared at him with a small frown and he leaned closer to her and touched her cheek, the lump of sorrow forming in his throat at how sickly pale her face was already beginning to look. "You're awake."- he breathed out in relief, Siya gulping deeply, the machines beeping faster to signal her heartbeats were beginning to race- "Siya."- he said in concern but she slowly touched his hand on her face, a frantic gleam trickling into her eyes.

"Luv... Kush.."- she muttered in panic.

"They're here. They are sleeping."- he said immediately and he looked at the couch, Siya following his gaze, the relief immediately comforting her heart when she saw her children sleeping comfortably on the couch.

"Why are you still here?"- she asked him with a hint of bitterness, the tears threatening to bite her eyes while she stared at him.

"I am not leaving so easily this time."- he said with conviction as he looked at her- "There are lot of unspoken words between us and we need to resolve it rather than push it away."

"I don't have the time to do that."- she replied with a hint of sorrow but she stopped short when he grasped onto her face and leaned closer to her, his face mere inches from hers, her heart skipping several beats at the passionate words that left his lips.

"Then I will have to steal time if I have to because I am not letting it take you from me so easily."

She touched his hand on her face, the tears biting both of their eyes while they stared at the pain riddling both of their gazes.

"Ram.."

"Siya.."- he breathed out as he touched his forehead on hers, a single drop of tear leaving his eyes and hitting her eye lid- "I mean it. I am not letting anything take you away from me again. I will fight death if I have to."

"You can't."- she said firmly but he stared at her in defiance- "You can't fight what God has already written in my destiny Ram."

"Just watch me."- he countered, his grip tightening on her face- "/I/ will re-write our destinies. Just watch me!"

"Ram stop it."- she touched his chest to push him slightly away from her but he did not move- "You can't just pretend everything is going to be the same between us again."- she said weakly. "It's not that simple."

"I am not pretending."- he retorted with a hint of haughtiness- "I know what is the reality between us but we are going to discuss it. Do you want to start with how Lankesh is still messaging you?"- he said bitterly but at his words, she immediately looked at him, pure fear and panic immediately flashing across her eyes- "I thought your family had nothing to do with him anymore."

"He messaged?"- she said in panic as she attempted to sit up on the bed but Ram held down on her shoulders to still her.

"Siya you can't harass yourself!"

"Ram he messaged me?!"- she tried to shout , Ram touching her cheek with a serious frown at her panicked expression.

"What aren't you telling me Siya!"- he said in concern but her eyes immediately landed on their children on the couch before she gripped the front of his waistcoat.

"How can he message me!"

"He said he saw you today and didn't get to speak to you."- Ram said rigidly, Siya's face paling in shock at his revelations.

"He saw me?"- she gasped out, pure confusion overcoming Ram's expression at the fear in her eyes.

"Siya what's going on?!"- he said firmly as he grasped onto both of her cheeks and forced her eyes to meet his.

"Ram you have to take Luv and Kush out of here and protect them and you have to call the police! Lankesh is crazy! He should be in a mental asylum! That means he escaped and he is coming for me!"- she said frantically, pure panic gripping his heart at her words.

"What.."- he muttered for the last time he heard or saw the man, he did not know the man had any mental problems.

"Ram. He's crazy! He is obsessed with me! We found this out a year after you and I broke up. His family knew something was wrong with him but for all of those years they kept it a secret from us. What if he knows I am in the hospital Ram! He will hurt Luv and Kush because he knows they are /our children/! Ram you need to take them away!"

Ram stared at her speechlessly at the information she was dumping on him, his thoughts in a chaotic carnage. Lankesh was mentally unwell? He was obsessed with Siya?

"It's making sense.."- Ram muttered to himself as he remembered the incidents three years ago, his heart constricting in guilt even more at what he had done to his Siya in his misunderstandings.

"Ram!"- she gripped onto his waistcoat and he hugged her close, his hand touching the back of her head as his eyes fell upon his sleeping children. "He kidnapped me Ram. He kidnapped me when I was in Australia."- she sobbed against his chest, his arms tightening around her at the shock that gripped his heart from her words. He touched her cheek and stared into her eyes seriously, mind numbing shock intermingled with anger trickling into his eyes at her revelations. "A year ago. He kidnapped me in Australia..."

"What..."- he muttered, his mind remembering her words from earlier that morning- I was in an accident a year ago and I hit my head. "The... the accident..."- he all but gritted out, the tears pooling in Siya's eyes, her silence confirming his suspicions.

"He caused it.."- she revealed quietly- "He caused the accident Ram."

That was it. The volcanic anger erupted within him.

Murderous rage. Red, fiery, destructive murderous rage was all he felt.

PREVIEW OF CHAPTER 4. TO BE COMPLETED SOON.

Ram's eyes drank in the growing bond of care and fondness between Poseidon and Siya. She was speaking to the horse as though he was her best friend and he could recognise that Poseidon was basking in her attention. The small smile of serenity lingered on his face while she continued to converse with the horse, his gaze drifting to her fair palm which caressed Poseidon's white mane as she whispered something to Poseidon which did not reach his ears.

"What are you telling him Siya?"- he queried curiously, the joy of amusement touching his eyes when she looked at him with a playful smile.

"That is for us to know and for you to find out."- she replied cheekily and he held her gaze as he buried his hands in his pockets and stepped closer to them.

"That is what I am trying to do yaar."- he touched the horse's mane, his fingers barely brushing hers. "Poseidon. What did you she tell you?"- he asked the horse with fake sternness, Poseidon grumbling at his query. "Ah I see..." -he muttered teasingly as he looked back at Siya who was grinning at his playful interaction with his horse. "He said, you said that I am a buffoon."- he said as he folded his arms, Siya immediately pretending to be shocked at his revelation.

"I did not!"- she said dramatically as she touched her chest- "I said you were a /stupid/ buffoon. Poseidon you should have gotten that right."- she told the horse teasingly even as Ram's jaw dropped slightly at her playful insult.

"Oh you like games huh."- he said as he took a step closer to her and touched her arm, her light laughter gracing the stable as he playfully pulled her closer to him.

"You started it."- she countered with a mischievous gleam in her eyes as her palms came to rest on his chest.

"Do you want me to finish it?"- he said teasingly as he lowered his head closer to hers, the mischief in his eyes mirrored in hers.

"You don't have the capabilities of doing that."- she replied with a light chuckle, his eyes narrowing at her in fake sternness.

"Is this the reward I am getting for bringing you to see my horse?"- he said, feigning a frown while Siya stared at him in growing amusement.

"My company is more than enough reward for that."- she retorted boldly and unable to resist the impulse, his lips curled up in a small smile at her feisty reply. "Although I will compliment you that this has been a memorable first date so far." -she continued with a warm smile, his expression softening with a hint of affection at her precious words.

"Well can we make it more memorable?"- he lowered his voice, his gentle dark gaze holding her beautiful brown eyes imprisoned in his- "Are kisses allowed on first dates?"- he said with a hint of tease but she could see the desire swimming in his eyes for her.

"Hmm..."- she muttered thoughtfully as she lowered her gaze and fiddled with the button on his shirt. "No it is not allowed."- she said with a small teasing smile, a slow sigh leaving Ram as he bowed his head with a soft smile. She stared at his handsome face and touched his cheek, his dark gaze meeting hers with a hint of shock at her surprising touch which warmed his heart in comfort. "You will have to earn it, Mr. Suryavanshi."

He stared into her soft eyes quietly, his hands coming to rest on her hips on their own accord but to his great joy and satisfaction, she did not move away from him. "How do I earn it?"- he queried quietly.

"I am not telling you."- she replied teasingly and he immediately opening his mouth to protest at her condition but the words were stuck within him when she touched his lips with her index finger to silence him- "You are very smart man, Ram. You probably would not even know you are earning my affections by your actions but that will be the fun part of it. Just be yourself and you will see if you earn it." With that she lowered her finger and he felt his heart falling hopelessly in love with her in that moment. Her intelligence, her independent attitude, her bold nature, her feistiness, her confidence were all attracting him so intensely to her that those qualities only served to enhance her already bewitching beauty in his eyes.

"I see.." -he replied firmly, a soft sigh leaving him- "So... What are you going to give me to remember our first date by then?"- he continued with a cheeky smile, Siya shaking her head with a bright smile at his persistence.

"This.."- she said quietly before she hugged him close, his heart skipping a beat in joy as his arms wrapped around her, her comforting embrace feeling eternally perfect. Her scent intoxicated his senses from their close proximity with each other and he lowered his head, Siya feeling a pleasurable warmth enveloping her body at the feel of his warm breath caressing her neck.

"I am going to earn your love Siya. I will earn it. I am not going to stop until I do."- he promised her with fiery conviction, Siya leaning away from him slightly as she met his determined gaze with a hint of shock at his passionate declaration. "You are a woman worth fighting for."- he said with a small smile, his words tugging at her heartstrings and she knew in that moment, her heartbeats were already beginning to write his name on her heart.

"You are already earning it."- she thought with a small smile but she did not allow the words to reach her lips.
