See people have asked me how I manage without sleep when I have to complete something. I say when my focus is completely on the task in hand sleep doesn't come to me.I can survive with about 5 hrs of sleep. Sleep comes to you when you have not completely surrendered yourself to the task. When you are forced to do something. If you are doing anything without free will any seva sleep will be the first hindrance. As you will be bored or tired.so if you have to any service to anyone surrender to the service so that you can cross the first obstacle of sleep and do the task properly

Yes Shruthi. Our so called party leaders are perfect examples. The leaders who are elected to serve people start sleeping or pretend to be asleep until the next election.

Nice take up di .
You are right , even I keep awake for long hours .
What I find is sleep is a state of mind in both ways .
If you feel focused and on motivated towards goal no one troubles your state of mind .

The best example of this would be Rishi Muni's of ancient times , who did penance and tapasya for years , sacrificing not only their sleep , but also food.
In reward , they got boons from the Lord

Yes...this is the universal truth. When we have a goal and we are focused and we want to give our hundred per cent, sleep becomes secondary..
In fact successful people are those who have given least importance to their sleep,ex-Modi,Shahrukh Khan,Bill Gates...,etc.
But ya,I don't belong to the above category,I'm more of Kumbakaran type...Only once I had stayed up the whole night studying before exam and the result was drastic...😭

Shruthi ,in a broader canvas it could mean that we need single minded vision ,determination and perseverance to reach our goals. A good message once again from the writers. This is sort of the concentration that Arjun had when he had to hit the birds eye, wasn't it? May be this is what makes each of the daughters of Mithila and the Sons of Ayodhya adhere to their chosen path in spite of almost unsurmountable odds. Ram first as a son fulfilling his father's promise, then as a husband crossing the ocean to rescue his wife and later as a king sacrificing his own happiness for the people. Lakshman serving his brother with devotion irrespective of the place, time or situation. Urmila sacrifices her her own feelings by letting him do so without any hindrance from her side. Bharath throws away the power and prestige for his brother, without any regrets. Lakshman and Bharath's only goal was to serve their elder brother with devotion.Mandavi like Urmila at great personal sacrifice free their husband to do so...this is their goal.

Yes Savitha. That is what APJ said. Dream while awake and work towards to make those dreams a reality. If you look all great people they work dedicated for hrs in their chosen path.

@Shruthi: Nice post. Its actually both ways, those who think of sleeping can't do seva and those who think of seva can't sleep. I personal had both experiences. 😆
During my Ph.D times, I took sleeping pills. Yes, not only me even many suffered with sleep disorder syndrome. Basically no rest for the brain and it became difficult later on. So I forced the doctor to write the sleeping tablets in my prescription for which he behaved like I am forcing him to do some crime activity😆
Second one is a beauty, when the work becomes boring, then nidra is an uninvited guest. Though not a Muchukunda, certainly I can't be like Laxman.
Brain needs rest for 7 to 8 hrs/day to work perfectly. Some may find it easy to work in late nights and some may get up early to do work, but essential amount of rest time for brain is much needed.
Note: Tomorrow leave (14th Apr), let me sleep for little longer😎

@Ramya none of us can be Laxman. Because as you rightly said body needs right amount of sleep. But at times we will have to manage with less sleep if we have to fulfill goals. Yes tomorrow is 14th holiday. But no extra sleep for me as have to get up early because of Vishu.
