Queen Kaushalya is the glue that held Dasharath's family together. She has made numerous sacrifices all her life. She sacrificed her husband to Kaikeyi and Sumitra, she sacrificed her daughter, and even her son Ram. Even though she was Ayodhya's head queen, she never used her status to her advantage. She gave so much love and respect to Kaikeyi and Sumitra, and treated them like sisters. Kaushalya's love is the reason all three queens were able to live as one happy family and this love is reflected in how close their sons are to each other. I really liked how the creatives show Kaushalya's loving nature, when Dasharath confessed to her on his death bed how he had betrayed her and promised the throne to Kaikeyi's future child. Kaushalya did not get upset Nor did she dwell on how her son suffered due to this promise. She was only concerned about the welfare of her husband. Her self sacrificing nature is reflected by her offsprings Shanta and Ram who both made great sacrifices for Raghukul.

Agree that Mata Kaushalya sacrificed. But Mata Sumithra was also not less if not more. She is silent but very observant and compassionate. How else could Lakshman n Shatrugnan follow and help the other brothers. The bothers remained a unit because of her selfless nature too.
