Burden of Expectations, Symbolism of Durga

Today I want to touch upon 2 aspects in the episode. First I have already said marriage has to be between partners who share same values and have shared a common journey. Today they bought it out for Bharath and Mandavi. If you look both the children carry the burden of expectations of their mothers.

Kaikeyi has high expectations for Bharath and when he came back she wanted to test whether he has met her expectations first before receiving her son with the warmth of a mother. And Chandrabagha shouts and complains at Mandavi for sleeping late. Not knowing the value of parents. Under the able and one who hoard the limelight type of siblings Ram and Sita, Bharath and Mandavi's space under the sun is always questioned. Ram and Sita are naturals, liked by everyone. But then Bharath and Mandavi are also likeable. They are not Ram and Sita. But unfortunately that is what happens in every household. Kaikeyi wanted the stereotype view of a warrior for Bharath, whereas he looks quite emotional type, attached type. And Chandrabagha wanted a stereotypical view of a woman for her daughter whereas Mandavi is prankster, playful and open. And it will be nice to see how Bharath and Mandavi manage it out when the burden of Ayodhya falls on their shoulder. The one who prefers the shadow of Ram and one who loves the easy and carefree life of a happy girl suddenly finds themselves in the sun. I hope CVs show that journey too.

Now coming to the second aspect. Symbolism of Durga. If we look the Durga image was formed by 4 sisters with Sita in front. So what does it mean. Is it that a woman should have 8 hands or a woman should know how to manage relations so that together they defend the family. I would say the latter. There needs to be a woman who is compassionate, who understands and who has the capability and knowledge to handle the thin dor of relations like the pearls in the chain. And the other women who trusts their leader supports her in her mission. And we need to know that if Ayodhya survived the catastrophe created by Kaikeyi it is not only because of the love of 4 brothers, but most importantly the love of 4 sisters who worked together in their sasural for their prosperity.

In a family where woman are together, where woman are nurtured they bind the relations through their love. And the family where woman are together no outside force can break it. Because their love and bonding create the fort that cannot be penetrated.

Nice analysis dear...
Before your post I never thought barat and mandavi shares same equation...
Kaikey's way of testing Barat hurts him...
Even Barat doesn't respond to her with love...

i havent thought abt madhavi and bharat before u mentioned it.I realized that we actually run after perfection,bt didnt notice that perfection is just a mirage and nothing else. We fail to accept people with faults.

Guys even I have never thought about them. See in most Ramayana I have read relation of Ram-Sita is mentioned, but never the equation of other brothers with their respective spouses. Some information I have no Lakhan-Urmila but others it is practically nil.
But this show is making me look at characters that I have also overlooked.

Beautiful take shruthi. Both Bharath and Mandavi lack the freedom which they seek for their life. Person coming back from a long separation from family look for emotionally attached soulful moment which both bharath and mandavi missed from their mothers. I am interested to know about chandrabagha's reaction when bharath gets the opportunity to rule the kingdom and he disagree it.
Coming to sita, she was one who realised the pain of animals too, so she won't disappoint her parents with words for sure. This truth may further make her detach from the princess life.

Wat a wonderful post shruthiravi 👏👍🏼 I really loved reading it , and yes as said by everyone we ppl wen we see ramayanam , always look out for Ram-Sita's relation ( Probably they r the leads of this epic ) .. But never see others , who supported them and should also be appreciated for their commitment to their family 👏
This show's writers really r doing a great job in making all the characters with the perspective that has never been touched by any makers of Other Ramayan versions 👏 I m now looking frwd for the next action sequence( the next stage - RamLakshman to Mithila ) we r abt to receive on January now 😳

Nice post shruthi.
Reading Durga, just reminded me about, Mandodari's role will be played by Piyali Munshi, who played Ma Durga in Jag Janani Ma Durga.
