Let's keep what they are showing is right or wrong pt aside & make some sense out of what is shown till now in Kaushlya & Dashrath's relationship.
Kaushalya is missing Shanta, is not happy the way her daughter had to leave all the luxary of life & live a simple life. She feels why Dashrath never made any effort to meet Shanta.
Dashrath is shown to have dreams of Shravan's father's curse. He fears about Ram, whom he loves the most, may be taken away from him.
Two parents are living some what unhappy life being worried about their daughter & son.
Rishi Jabali's words, Jagat satya Brhma mithya, is quite applicable to them.
Whatever is seen around is Satya, root cause is Moha.
Rishi Jabali seems to be in a happy state mainly. Contarary to what he preaches, he is detached. His reasoning shows Jagat is Satya. But doesnt seem to be attached to the Jagat.
Attachment mostly results in pain or loss of loved ones.
Detachment happens with true understanding of Satya.

Beautiful observation !
No wonder , they have interspersed this issue with Rama's interaction with Jabali !

O/wise, as per my understanding Valmiki ramayana does not mention of any interaction between the duo till the time of Vanvas.

But here, they are set to use philosophy of Jabali , for Rama to apply in a different manner !

@mnx12: Good take. Though the episode completely degraded king dhasarath the connection u made wrt jabali was nice.

Not only Kaushlya & Dashrath, even Ram is very much involved in this matter. It'll be interesting to know his pov too. Parent's may be right in their decisions taken at that time but it's effects in future decides the lasting impression on other's mind.
Regarding the epic text, there may be some referance in other books about their interaction. Ram would have surely known about rishi Jabali as he was one of the minister in Dashrath's court. They may have interacted.

The impression of this particular epi may seem degrading Dashrath. But this is a long story, lets wait for next epi to get better idea.
Rishi Jabali is quite interesting.
Thanks 😊
