Last year my uncle expired in tragic road accident and cousin was supposed to get married within 5 day ,marriage went as planned and aunt took part ,she clearly missed husband but didnt sulk and that was life changing incident of her life
Point being human being can switch emotions easily they dont sulk 24/7 they feel bad but priortise things acc to situation too

sorry to hear about your loss...i've had a similar incident where one of my cousins got married and her father (my uncle) passed from brain cancer...her mother wanted her married in front of her father without her consent but it was my father who explained to not do anything w/o her consent (this was in jaipur years ago but majority of family hails from mumbai..my parents moved abroad for job purposes way before this back in the 90s)...it just goes to show that life isnt as expected...
