What powerful sequences wasted!

I just watched today's and yesterday's episodes and I can't help but lament over the potential of such powerful sequences being wasted. These episodes were supposed to be a gamechanger. We are supposed to feel for Veer, cry for his heartbreak like we did for Mauli. But I just couldn't react. My brain tells me that it is a piteous situation that is meant to evoke strong emotions, but I could not feel anything. It is at this moment that I could not help but wish another actor had been casted for Veer's role. I was expecting at least a quarter of the impact of Mauli's breakdown moment, but was left utterly disappointed. I was expecting Rohan to bring forth the strong emotions of heartbreak and pain that tugged at the audience's heartstrings. But in the end, only the circumstances triggered a semblance of pity. It is an actor's responsibility to make the audience feel for him, not the script alone. An apt actor can make us understand the characterisation when the script fails. When the reverse happens, it is really disappointing. Thus, a poignent moment became flat. And the dragging of the sequences did not help. What a pity!

Or maybe the makers directed it so that the audience doesn’t feel for or empathize with Veer, like they did with Mauli. Unlike last season, they want the leads to be liked this time around so it makes complete sense.

Maybe that might be true, but I can't completely agree with that. If they did not want us to empathise with Veer, they could have easily made him a villain, like ITV does on every occasion. They even chose not to bring out his grey shades, like they did for the leads. So I can't help but hold the actor mostly responsible for the failure of such a powerful sequence.

Showing the original fiance as a villain is not something that Silsila is about anyway, then there is no point of chosing between puraane rishte and naye jazbaat. But I’m sure its a deliberate choice of the makers to downplay his reaction- either through their direction or through casting the actor in the first place.

They would have seen his acting and emoting range in the auditions itself, still going ahead with him and then making his reaction so thanda can’t be anythint but a deliberate choice of the makers.

I agree with your Post. Word for word. See, it's more than apparent here that I'm a hardcore Mishti and Mishaan shipper/fan but I'm a human too, I feel sympathy and pity for Veer in my mind, always have, but the most anticipated moment got wasted. It was total flat. When it happened....my mind was telling me to feel...something, anything. But I couldn't. It was almost like, he was just reading his lines!

See, when we read a book, it's totally up to the writer to make us laugh or cry....and we do, if that particular part has been narrated well, i cried when Fred died in Harry potter(book) I cried when Ned Stark died in GOT (book) similarly I cried when these scenes happened in movie and series too, and that was because of the actors.

When a scene is executed, it's totally up to the actor to pull that part perfectly.... I cried my heart out when tony stark died... Hell I was crying through the whole movie....again because of the actors....and in infinity war even though Thanos was villain, I felt really bad for him, I could connect to him for a while when he sacrificed Gamora. Anyways I'm sure you must've got my point....kudos for your post👏👍🏼

Perhaps it could be a deliberate casting error but even then it is the actor's responsibility to improve and utilise such circumstances to prove his mettle. Plus, I disagree about the part of downplaying his reaction through direction. I felt that the sequence had lots of potential; it required morphing from confusion to anger to pain and swapping back and forth between these emotions. Plus, the dialogues were on point. It's just that the actor could not execute this transformation well.

Why would upcoming actors agree to downplay a role which has such great potential? I don't think that's the case, but could be the casting was done so the role doesn't get too much emotion.

Completely agreed.. I know this from the beginning of the show,, I have read the same comments during his last show in tellyupdates too if I remember correctly...

Acting is not coming naturally for him (my personal opinion).. but if he has good passion towards acting he can put up good effort and become better.. maybe he can go through some stage dramas troup where the most of actors learning acting from basics (south side especially),, I have seen many improved gradually,,, he could practice more and gets more confident before signing up for his next project..

Let's wish him all the best 👍🏼

I just watched it. No offense to him, but his acting was flat. I'm not a really a fan of him. There wasn't any emotion where we can feel his pain. 😕 I do think Veer has all rights to feel upset and angry.

But, I am very happy that Mishti showed some backbone her father didn't have and told Veer the truth about her feelings. It goes to show, she ain't like her adulterer dad. Even if the truth hurts, she told him how she felt.
