Nandini can be shown being insecure once kunal starts working and isnt with her all the time. As time goes and real life kicks in they dont get to be lovey dovey all the time and Nandini is bothered by it and visibly upset and annoying about it. And kunal is annoyed by all these baseless suspisions. He just misses being in a marriage that had mutual understanding and love and support.

And this will only get worse for them once they come across Mouli and her child. So, now Kunal will try to actually to close to Mouli and Nandini will have a decent reason to be insecure. But they cant do anything but stay in the marriage because pyaar kya dindora jo pita tha. And tthat would be their punishment. For nandinu to forever be insecure and unsatisfied and for Kunal to miss what he had.

If makers want to give Mouli justice then this would be the way. Because making them cheat on each other or be villainish would be too easy, but not very convincing.
