Why do fans go all defensive?

When we are talking about characters, why do fans have to make it into a fan war?

Because some are 'blind' fans and some can't see reel from real. Also some are just sensitive.

For some maybe this is real life. There may be some real life nandanis here and they get mad when we insult the character because its too close to home. They try to convince us that all other woman other man not bad and they are grey in real life. When we disagreeree the y resort to name calling: patriarchal, misogynistic, regressive. As if being progressive means you can be an immoral, despicable homewrecker. As if it is not the height of patriarchy to keep a woman goung from man to man, cooking kheer and walking around half naked to keep him. Their mythical sisterhood does not extend to the wife. They see no irony in the misogyny of one woman having sex with anothers husband and showing no guilt. If thats nit gatred of a woman i dont know what is.

May be because on some other platform actors are on receiving end just because they agreed to play a particular character. Someone wishing their happily married life should be ruined, their respective spouse should cheat on them and they should suffer. Just for a shitty piece of fiction.
