So Kunal lied to Nandini about the puja and Nandini knows he lied but she brushes it off. Is this meant to show that they trust each other so relationship is stronger? Or is it supposed to be a crack in the relationship that Kunal already started lying and Nandini is too obsessed to realize it?

Its a pretty big thing that Kunal is lying to her about his ex-wife. I think this is the beginning of the unraveling of the KuNan relationship.

CVs are doing such a terrible job in showing their characters.

EDIT: I also forgot to add how easily Nandini came to see MauNal after watching them close on TV. It took her less than a second to doubt Kunal. Definitely a crack in the relationship. KuNan can never be happy. If he can cheat with you, he can cheat on you. She will remember how their relationship started and will always be insecure.

I guess I am the only one who thought that scene had relevance. I wonder if Cvs are changing the script due to the heavy backlash.

Kunan relationship is based on weak grounds from the beginning. Nandini sees kunal as her saviour and the ideal husband type she wanted but didn't get, and there is nothing in nandini that kunal wanted or needed which he didn't have with mauli except a girl that dresses up in sarees, and is weak and vulnerable that invokes his sympathetic and protective side in him. And nandini is an insecure girl, whilst kunal is a spineless guy who will never be true to who he is or what he really wants as he somehow tries to keep up this fake image of being the ideal man in front of everyone, hence is too spineless to admit what he really wants and essentially is two faced in his relationships right now. Their relationship will not last, and I already see it.
