I didn't understand why they used to have so many wives. By that means Ramji having 1 wife and full commitment towards her is a huge thing even in that time
dasharath had around 350 wives according to valmiki ramayan

The kheer (prasad) of this Yagya was only given to these three
Kaushalya got half of it
Sumitra was given half of remaining half(I.e. 1/4th)
Then out of remaining 1/4th, Keikayi was given half(I.e. 1/8th)
The remaining part(1/8th) Dashrath again gave to Sumitra
So when other wives didn't get any Yagya Prasad, then I don't they would have had sons
