Part 2
âYes Sir, how may I help you?â Anokhi asked, walking up to him.
Should he tell this girl everything? What will she think? Is it right to drag her into their personal problems. But it was she who poked her nose first. Shaurya was in a dilemma.
âPardon me Sir, but I honestly donât have time to stare at your face and wait for you to come out of whatever daydream you are lost in.â
âI was not lost anywhere. It is just that I think before talking, not like you who keeps on speaking like a non-stop bullet train.â
âOk fine. Please come to the point now. Why did you call me?â
Shaurya could not figure out how to start. He hesitated a bit and said, âCan we go to my chamber and talk. I donât want anyone to hear our conversation.â
Anokhi frowned. What secret does he want to share with her? She wondered. Then said, âOnly if you promise not to attack me with anything. My last two experiences of entering your chamber have not been particularly pleasing.â
âI promise, now comeâ
Shaurya took her inside and closed the door.
âWhat are you doing?â Anokhi asked, alarmed.
âShhh..I told you I donât want anyone listening to our conversation. Now sit down.â Shaurya said, taking his seat. Then he bent over his desk and said in a very low voice, âI need your help.â
âYou, need my help. I thought you are self-sufficient. You never needed anybody's help.â Anokhi said, faking surprise.
âIf you are done with mocking me, can I proceed?â
Anokhi nodded.
âYour Shaan Sir and Aastha Mam are getting a divorce. I want you to stop your Aastha Mam from signing the divorce petition.â
âDoes Aastha Mam know anything about it?â Anokhi asked, anxiously.
âI am afraid not. It was Dadâs decision. As far as I know, he hasnât talked to her yet.â Shaurya said.
âBut why do you want to stop the divorce? Given the way you treat Aastha Mam, you should be happy if they get divorced, right?â
âWell, miss Broken Record, I did not call you here to give me another round of lectures on how to treat Aastha Mam. Anyways, I am not doing it for your Aastha Mam. I am doing this for my Dad. I donât want him to marry the sister of that timber mafia, Virendra Taneja. Industrialist, my foot. He just wants to turn his black money white by investing in our project.â
âListen, I am not interested in your Taneja, Raheja, Makhija. I will help you only because I cannot see my Aastha Mam sad. I know she wonât show it but this divorce will break her.â Anokhi could not imagine the shock Aastha Mam would get on knowing it.
âMe tooâ, Shaurya said indistinctly, but the words did not fail to reach Anokhiâs ears. Shaurya was looking lost in thoughts. Anokhi got up, silently opened the door, turned to look at him once again and then walked away.
Meanwhile at the flat.
âShaan, what are you doing here? Shouldnât you be at college now?â Aastha was surprised to see Shaan at the door at this hour. Then she looked closely at him and said worriedly, âYou donât look well. Is everything alright?â
âI took a half day leave from college. It feels as if a hundred hammers are hitting my head at the same time. I needed some rest.â
âCome on in. This is all due to your alcohol addiction. I think you are showing withdrawal symptoms.â Aastha held out her hand to provide him support.
Shaan came inside and lay down on the sofa.
âGo and lie down on the bed Shaan. I will make you a cup of strong coffee.â saying this Aastha walked towards the kitchen.
âNo, that wonât be necessary. I shall leave soon. I have come to tell you something important.â
âEverything important can wait. You are not going anywhere until you feel better. Let me get you some ointment for your pain.â Aastha insisted.
âHow I wish I could stay here forever.â Shaan said, with a sad smile.
âYou yourself have closed that door long ago.â Aastha sighed and went inside to get the ointment.
It was quite late in the evening. Anokhi got down from the car and said to Shaurya, âThanks for the ride Sirâ
âNo need for any âthanksâ. You helped me pick up a gift for Kanchanâs birthday so it was my duty to drop you home. Now remember your promise. You will not tell anyone about our plan. Not even your Aastha Mam or Shaan Sir.â
âRight sir, I never go back on my word.â Anokhi said, making a sign of zipping her lips.
Shaurya started laughing.
Anokhi gave him an angry look and said, âMay I know what is there to laugh so much?â
âNothing, just that when such big words come from a person so small, it is difficult to take them seriously.â Shaurya said, trying to control his amusement.
âSay whatever you want. I donât mind it. At least I got to see you laugh. Otherwise you are always Mr. Grumpy old cat.â
âWhat cat? Oh I see, you are taking revenge for this morning.â
As Anokhi walked away giggling, Shaurya called out, â Hey, Miss Bhalla, I am grumpy but certainly not old.â
When she did not get any response after knocking on the door a few times, Anokhi opened it with her set of keys. She went inside and found Aastha sitting like a statue, some papers were lying on the table before her. Anokhi quickly went and picked them up. They were exactly what she had feared, the divorce petition papers.
Nice storyâșïž Shaurya seeking Anokhiâs help to get out of this messđł and protect his father from Deviâs devil plan..
Also, ShaKhi calling each other namesđ Ms Broken Record. Mr Grumpy old catđ€Łđ€Ł
Really looking forward to read moreâ€ïž
Do continue soonđ€
They are friends already!
Looking forward to their plan.. Mostly their not-so-subtle friendship đ
Can't wait to see what plan has Shaurya come up with to play between them. The below line was so Anokhi. đ
Then said, âOnly if you promise not to attack me with anything. My last two experiences of entering your chamber have not been particularly pleasing.â
đ€Łđ€Ł
Even I think of a tape recorder when Anokhi starts the 'aastha maam' jaap
Anyhow interesting, with ofc the ending being that bad which is a good cliffhanger đ Shaurya's unique way of asking for help LOL Only one of a kind!
Really nice.đđŒ
Now that Shaurya and Anokhi are a team, it'll be great. Worried for Aastha and Shaan.
Badi maa is such a headache.
Looking forward to read the next chapter.
