The tension breaks with our couple sat side-by-side in their first dinner together as newlyweds and they feed each other, applause and smiles all around. 😆😆 Shastri ji notices there's no ice cream *leh, shaadi aur no ice cream?🤣* sending an eager Devyani to fetch some from the buffet. She's in a huff though, scolding herself - but mostly Anu - for going alone to confront a mad man. She doesn't even notice the approaching Neil which leads her to bump into him *or vice versa 😆* - which of course, fires her up even more.
Devyani: Oh, so this was why you were pretending to be nice with me!
Neil: *rolls his eyes*
Devyani: This was running on your mind all the while, wasn't it!
Neil: What? This happened by mistake. Big deal.
Devyani: No, this was no mistake. All this was your planning!
Neil: I didn't have so many bad days that I'd make such small plans. That you'd turn around -- and I'd figure out when to bump into you.
🤣🤣🤣
Devyani proceeds to vent her misplaced anger at a calm and collected Neil. He's been helping her all throughout the wedding, so how could she say all this he points out. She figures it's a huge planning on his part and that there must be an underlying sinister reason. Mrs Sareen walks in on this bickering to tell Devyani off because Neil is a "nice boy from a nice family" and she should be last person to judge anyone given the evening's events. Devyani walks away unable to form a proper response leaving Neil to chide his mother for attempting to fight his battles. Minty, ever suspicious, notices his growing partiality for Devyani which he swiftly diverts.
Minty: I think I'll eventually have to change parties. *turning away in anger*
Neil: Mom, whoever's side you're on, you know I'm on your side. 😉 Do you want to eat ice-cream?
Minty: No.
Neil: A little bit?
Minty: No...
Neil: But you're getting weaker!
Minty: ...yeah...? You know, being busy in all the wedding rush, I've been feeling really weak!
Needless to say, argument averted with a double scoop of ice cream. 🤣
Meanwhile, Shastri ji is handing out gifts to everyone which Harishankar doesn't fail to criticise on some more. He grabs Rohan's gift from his hands - a gold chain - to comment on its lightness with a smirk. The tensions hangs heavy again until Rohan gently takes the chain back and smiles at Alka, touching his father-in-law's feet for blessings.
"Papa, this gift is insignificant to me because you've given me the biggest gift of my life".
Rajat (in his police jeep) suddenly remembers the wedding avenue's address prompting him to enter with the seething, now-handcuffed Rajeev in tow. And it's the very moment the elders decide the time for bidaai had come. 😳 Anu hearing the police siren, alarmed, wonders how she could solve this new dilemma of the 2 parties meeting. She heads out nonetheless after confiding in Devyani so she'll have someone on the inside to manage things.
Anu and Rajat lock horns again over what should be done while Devyani tries to stall the bidaai process in a panic. The accompanying officer also tries to make Anu understand - to no avail - how important it is for thugs like Rajeev to not go scot-free.
Rajat: Why are you trying to save someone like him? Why?!
Anu: ... Because I'm in love with him!
Rajat: ...
Anu: You only know half the story. Before you arrived at the mandhir, we were having an argument and I'd said a lot of things at him. And he attacked me in a rage. This is a personal matter and I don't want any statement written against him.
*facepalm*
The police officer deciding there isn't a case anymore leaves with a confused Rajat and Rajeev, Anu rushing inside just in time for bidaai. All past happy memories of the Shastris are relived as they say goodbye to Alka all weeping their hearts out.
Precap: The Sareens are preparing for the pitari ceremony when Alka searches her suitcase for it to see it's not there.
