VIEWERS just seem to love magic. An increasing number of channels believe that magic wands, miracles, Muggels and hobbits bewitch TV audiences. So if you haven't had enough of Meri Biwi Wonderful, Son Pari and Shakalaka Boom Boom, here's one more.
Shararat — Thoda Jaadu Thodi Nazaakat
, Fridays at 9 a.m. on Star Plus, is a fantasy sitcom. Set in modern times, it is about three women of the Malhotra household — Jia and here mother and grandma. By a supernatural decree the magical powers are passed on to Jia on her 18th birthday. The teenager not able to control her magical powers keeps putting the family in trouble. Such is the commotion that people are always curious about the goings-on in the house. One over-inquisitive neighbour is sure there's something untoward happening and keeps a constant — and hilarious — vigil.
Starring Farida Jalal and Mahesh Thakur and directed by Rajiv Mehra (Office Office & Zabaan Sambhal Ke) Shararat — Thoda Jaadu Thodi Nazaakat, happily for viewers, turns out to be more a comedy than a magic show.
