Saturn transited to Scorpio on 02/11/14 at 08:54 PM. Scorpio is the sign ruled by Mars. It is very interesting to note that the friendship between Saturn and Mars is a one-sided in nature. Mars gets exalted (uchha) in Capricorn that is ruled by Saturn whereas Saturn turns debilitated (Neecha) in Aries that is ruled by Mars.
The ruling deity of Mars is Lord Hanuman himself. Surya happens to be Lord Hanuman' preceptor and Saturn/Shani dev is Surya's son. Astrologically, the Sun turns exalted in Aries and there is a clear understanding that Saturn disowns and dislikes everything that is attributable to Sun.
It is said that Shani dev once approached Lord Hanuman for eclipsing him via Sade Sati. Lord Hanuman told him to stay at bay as his Sade Sati cannot cause any harm to him. Lord Hanuman stood on one leg and started chanting "RAM naam. Shani dev could not dare to touch him but started laughing at him instead. He told Lord Hanuman that my punishment is already delivered as I have made you stand on one feet and this has embarked fear in your mind. Upon hearing this Hanuman retaliated by giving him tight blows. He tied Shani dev with his tail and rose for the skies. He banged Shani dev upon every single mountain on the earth and Shani dev started bleeding profusely.
He begged for Lord Hanuman's mercy and Lord Hanuman forgave him. Lord Hanuman granted him two boons as well. First being, Shani dev would never punish any of his devotees and secondly, he would maintain a cordial relationship with his father (Surya) in the future. Shani dev has maintained his word ever since and he gets pleased with everyone who pleases Lord Hanuman. On Makar Sankranti, Sun enters "Makar Rashi which is owned by Saturn. This is a clear indication that Shani dev has very less animosity towards his father now
Once when wounded Shani dev returned to his palace to rest and heal. To soothe him, his wife applied mustard oil on his wounds and hence, Shani dev has been offered mustard oil ever since.
The moral of the story is that Saturn and Mars have conflicting tendencies but a native cannot lead a balanced life without the effects of these two planets. Mars represents force, thrust and action whereas Saturn has been understood to cause lethargy and delay in action. This is a wrong understanding about Saturn. Saturn is the only planet that teaches patience and preservance by delaying things. He is the one who teaches the value of time and he is the one who teaches to "Earn things in life rather than "buying or by putting a price on everything.
If Mars get exalted in Capricorn (owned by Saturn) then there has to be some significance behind that. Perhaps one good reason could be that Saturn teaches Mars to channelize energy and "change gear according to the need.
Saturn would be occupying Scorpio (owned by Mars) for around three years. He is not going to occupy a friendly sign and he would be in a bit of discomfort. The idea behind every remedy should be to pacify Shani dev and please him gradually. Shani dev is a great teacher and he punishes us for our bad deeds. He occupies the position of the "Chief Justice and he holds the power to execute us for our bad deeds and reward us for our good deeds. No one can escape his wrath/punishment and he gets more wrathful upon those who try to act smart. He gets benevolent with those who act his way and attempt to become good human beings.
The Sun is transiting to Scorpio on 16th November 2014 and it would be conjunct with Saturn for one complete month. This is an awkward conjunction and remedies should be performed accordingly.
A friendly advice would be to recite "Shri Hanuman Chalisa to escape Shani dev. This is very important for natives born under Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius ascendant (Moon sign) who are under the influence of Sade Sati. This fact is also true for those natives who are born under Aries ascendant as they would be experiencing Ashtam Shani.
