i too like everyone else is calling BS. because with the amount of shelter nimmi put somu in her knowing what it means to be transgender is far fetched and her surprised lokk and and even asking her mother to explain was very surprising to me. but to give this useless cvs the bebnefit of the doubt let me tell you a story of how maybe she knew what a transgender is .
whe i was 7 or 8 i heard the word PD(pronounced in french) for the first time and i went to ask my parents what that meant i remember my mother scolding me and saying i should never repeat tat word and how thats a bad word and i should not talk about such things. i remember all this started because a famous musician in my country wore something like a skirt in one of his music video. i remember i went out to play i asked my friends if they knew what PD meant and one of them explained and said that is what her elser sister said , another explained that she heard her mother's friends talking about it. we where chilrdren but growing up in a conservative and homophobic/supersticious society we as kids didn't understand what we where talking about but from our understanding from the adults reactions and what was being said this was a bad and horrifying thing . we knew that it was wrong and thats why we werent suppose to talk about it.
here's the thing you can never protect your children from everything as there is always going to be an elder sister / aunty / neighbor/ friend /uncle or person who is going to tell them things you cannot tell them . my guess is that somu knows what being transgender is because there most have been a point in life where one of her frineds or surbhi's friends (friends who told her at school then she shared with her sister) came with something new they learnt and wanted to share . and in sharing the most have shared the views (the backwards perceptions people have about transgenders) of the person who they heard the news from. they might not have talk about it much or tought about it again after that day but when growing up some stories are told in the most negative ways that they stay with you forever.
Ps. a PD is a gay person. i have grown up to be a better person and am one of the lucky ones who have come to understand that i have no right forcing others to live life according to my beliefs. and and work hard everyday to be more accepting and being and actual good human being who sees the humanity in people and not force them into labels or play God with their lives by judging them.
PPS: this is me giving the producers some credit and i will look at it from this pov.😛
