Indian television seems to have finally come out of its comfortable zone and so have the TV actors who have been playing almost everything onscreen, but transgender.

Rubina Dilaik's character Saumya in on 'Shakti " Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki' being a eunuch is the biggest revelation on TV and we are in great dilemma if the viewers have their minds set to accept her as a transgender already. Though Rubina, who plays Soumya on the show had revealed to TimesOfIndia.com earlier that she will play a eunuch, we are sure there were many who were just waiting for the major change to happen on screen.

In this new approach towards delivering new content to the audience, Indian television finally seems to be coming out of its cocoon.

Traditionally, it was the cisgender actors who have essayed such roles in international TV shows.

Transgender actress Laverne Cox in 'Orange Is The New Black' has set the standard high, and we are looking forward to seeing Indian TV actors take up such challenging roles and proving their efficiency at it.

It was post Laverne's stint on the show that a wave of change hit the small screen and there was a social acceptance for transgender people globally.

Other international actors to have played trans on screen include the likes of Hilary Swank in Boys Don't Cry, Felicity Huffman in TransAmerica, Sofia Vergara in Grilled, Alex Newell in Glee.

Indian TV is leaving no stone unturned in letting go off the apprehensions they have had all these years about certain roles. It is surprising to see actors from the typical saas bahu soaps accepting such challenges.

True .. Finally PH's are realising that god has gifted them something called brain and its quite a revolution to see shows with such topics airing at prime time . I hope now Indian audience embraces this real concept rather than those supernatural concepts 😆
