I don't think exactly intersex, but she might be a infertile girl, with imperforate vagina or such, thats why they came to know of it at birth and they hate her. I felt it like that

And if it's the case her parents would be very caring and protective trying to find a solution to their child or accepting the fact and trying not to hurt her feelings.
But here it's totally the opposite .The dad doesn't care about his own child as she's not his daughter.
when she was a child her father was afraid what if the secret will get unfold and what is supposed to say to people on that time. So it's something that puts him to shame.
