This appears to be quite a bit out of her character, as she was hardly shown to be religious in her natal home.

It is interesting that Payal has her own ways of trying to win over the outlaws (certainly not in-laws) with her forgiveness, accommodation, love and goodness. At the same time Juggy's plan is exactly the same --to win over the new bahu with his and Santoshi's pampering and love.The outlaws are extending their divide and rule tactics, which might drive a wedge between Dev and Payal down the line. Further, Jug's tactics are surely going to enrage Ms. Gulkand and drive a wedge between her and Payal. Let us see how this unfolds!

Maybe in her mind she belives if she performs all the duties of aa dutiful dil she is both upholding the teachings passed on to her by her mother and maintaining the family respect.
