Avan, Aval Adhu 459

The person who called Meenakshi was not a bad person but largely a misguided person. The person's personal opinion of Meenakshi was that she was largely a misunderstood person. The person had only good intentions at heart when constantly informing Meenakshi about all the happenings in Kumarapalayam but sadly the heart and soul were clouded and muddied with hatred for all things that concerned North India and the Hindi Language. As far as the person was concerned, any person who was not a South Indian meant they were from North India, and worse, they spoke Hindi. But more than the person's affiliation and friendship with Meenakshi, the person respected Ravi a lot and was of the opinion that their village's favorite son and hero should not have anything to do with North Indians.

The person made the call as soon as their village priest entered Ravi's compound and Meenakshi who was still reeling from what Rajendra had told her about Madhu and Gayatri, answered with a question. ' Have more police come to Ravi's house?'

' No, Meenakshi. Just the temple priest and that too at this time of the day. I thought it was a bit strange and that is why I called you immediately.'

Meenakshi's animal instincts screamed a warning and she immediately asked her friend, ' What is a priest doing in Ravi's house at this hour?'

' I saw him taking out a book from his two-wheeler's side box. I am not 100 percent sure but it looked like some religious book and could even be a panchangam book. They use that to see what time in a day is auspicious and when it is inauspicious to conduct a pooja or for that matter of fact any religious Hindu ceremony.'

The pulse in Meenakshi's forehead began to throb and placing a finger on it, she pressed down on the artery and asked in a slow and deliberate voice, ' Do you think they are planning for a wedding?'

The person concurred, ' Could be ' and then hurriedly asked Meenakshi to hold for a few seconds placed the phone on the table, and quickly scanned the calendar.

Meenakshi could hear the sounds of the pages being turned by her childhood friend and informant and helplessly bit down on her bottom lip and waited with bated breath for her friend to return and hopefully give her some good news.

The friends did return and said, ' Meenakshi, there is only one auspicious day in which a marriage can take place and that is tomorrow, which also happens to be a holy day for Lord Muruga. After that, there is a gap of twenty days before anything auspicious can be conducted.'

Breathing a sigh of relief, Meenaskhi said, ' So, if I somehow stop them both from getting married tomorrow, I will have twenty days to think of something and I am sure that I can think of something.'

' How can you stop them getting married? Are you going to walk in there and try to create trouble or worse foolishly try to kidnap that North Indian dog? Vendaam, Meenakshi, those men who are guarding the house don't look like ordinary cops for each one of them looks capable enough of taking on single-handedly ten or more of our police guys. With their eyes closed.'

Meenakshi smiled, ' Don't worry about what I am going to do. But trust me I have a plan and am I sure that it is going to work.'

' What do you plan to do, Meenakshi?'

' I am going to meet them and tell them the truth.'

' Ennathu. Trutha? Enna truthu?'

' You will see the effect soon enough for once I have spoken to them both, they will look at each other in a new light and that will be the end.'

' Meenakshi, for your sake, I hope it all works out for you. All the best.'

Then Meenakshi remembering something hurriedly said, ' Hold on. I need a small favor from you ' and quickly told her friend what she wanted to be done and done right away.

Rajendra was briefing his Android Hybrid 25C on what to do and how to go about gathering more information regarding the security team that was protecting Madhurima when his phone notified him about a WhatsApp message.

Tapping on it, he saw that the message was a document file sent by Meenakshi and opening it saw several pics of the secret army men patrolling Ravi Kumar's house.

Rajendra's keen eyes instantly homed in on the emblem that was pinned on each commando's right sleeve and after staring at it for a few long seconds, reached across his desk, and picking up another phone, called Delhi.

He waited as several pings and beeps later, the call was answered in what he knew was a fully encrypted connection.

' My lord, sir. I hope you and the king are doing well. Tell me, sir, how can I serve you today.'

' General, I am sending you a photo. Take a good look and tell me what you know about it.'

' Okay sir ' the general replied in a very polite tone and taking a few moments to look at the photo came back online and said, ' Sorry sir. I cannot talk about it.'

Rajendra remained silent and the General quickly added, ' My Lord, I said I cannot talk about it. But I can message you about it. Bye.'

Five minutes later, Rajendra's laptop pinged informing him that he had new mail on his encrypted connection.

He logged into the laptop and entered the secretive world that is known as Darknet or Dark web to the public.

Rajendra opened the message and whispered one word, " Chakravyuh " and immediately looked at Hybrid 25C who blinked and turned an angry red and said, ' They were the ones who destroyed your secret group, " Sons Of Gaia " my lord.'

Avan, Aval Adhu 460

“Your memory feels like home to me. So whenever my mind wanders, it always finds its way back to you.” Ranata Suzuki

Ravi shut the door behind him and Madhu who had entered first turned and looked at him with her big brown eyes that were full of questions but her bow-shaped pink lips stayed shut and said nothing.

Leaning against the door as if he suddenly needed support, a shoulder to rest on, Ravi stood gazing at Madhu who asked him, ' Why are you looking at me as if you are seeing me for the very first time in your life?'

' Because it is the first time, I am seeing you like this.'

Puffing her right cheek, she blew a gust of air at the strands of her hair that had dared stray away from their rightful place and using her right hand to tuck them in behind her ear, she looked at him, ' I don't understand, Jaanu. Is this one of those poetic moment of yours?'

Shaking his head, ' No. Believe me, I am being honest. This Madhu that I am seeing right now, in my bedroom is a new version and one who has just agreed to marry me and make me the happiest person in this world. No, not just this world but the happiest person in this entire universe.'

Then she his eyes wandering down and away from her face, and seeing him point at her, looked down to see what he was pointing at, and finding nothing wrong looked at him questioningly.

' Your saree ' Ravi said hesitantly and when she looked at him with a blank expression that told him that she was not following his train of thought, he quickly added, ' What I meant to ask or rather wondering was, if you are okay with that saree you are wearing? Will you be comfortable wearing that for the ceremony, even though it is going to be a simple one?'

Madhu smiled and looked at her saree and said, ' I am okay. But even if I am not okay, I don't have anything else to wear right now, and neither did I bring anything special to wear when I flew down from Mumbai.'

Her eyes went to the door and after lingering on it for a brief moment, she turned and looked at Ravi, ' Maybe I can borrow something from your mother?'

Ravi slowly walked up to her and holding her gently by her shoulders, ' Not necessary, Madhu.'

' Okay then' Madhu smiled and slowly looking down at the saree that was draped around her, gently ran her fingers on them and told him, ' I wore this saree because Premji gifted me this just a few weeks before he passed on and requested me to wear it when I met you again. I don't know why he thought that and how he was so sure that we would meet again.'

Ravi Kumar looked at her, ' Because he loved you so much and really wished and hoped that you would live a happy and peaceful life after he passed away.

She felt his fingers touch and caress her saree and throwing her arms around him said, ' Jaanu, I am sure your mother must have a nice silk saree that I can wear for our marriage. So, just go and ask her and bring it to me and I will be ready in a few minutes.'

' No need to trouble my mother for a saree and moreover I doubt if any of her sarees will work out in the end.'

Madhurima rolled her eyes up to heaven and sighing exasperatedly, wailed, ' Jaanu, you are killing me, baby. You are not comfortable with this saree I am wearing and so I suggested you borrow a saree from your mother but you don't want that.'

Grabbing him by his collar she mockingly threatened him by shaking him, ' Master, better decide quickly before the priest arrives.'

Ravi smiled shyly and it reminded her of those days when he used to wait outside the school for her to join him and walk back to their homes.

' Don't worry about all that for we have enough time for everything ', saying that he kissed her. The moment his lips buried hers in his and the moment his tongue entered her mouth and set her on fire, she knew this was no ordinary kiss for he had never kissed her like that before and she knew that she had never been kissed like he was doing at that moment.

This was a kiss full of passion, desire, and lust and her body responded and set her heart racing that sent blood pumping all over her body and she moaned as she went wet and shivered as her C.nt trembled with desire and unspeakable thoughts. Unconsciously, she pressed her pelvis against him and feeling his hard bulge looked at him with drugged eyes and whispered, ' I want you. I want you inside me.'

He spoke into her mouth, ' I want that too as much as you want and after that, I don't mind just dying in your arms.'

Twisting his left ear, she growled sexily and said, ' Not until you have done all your duties and the ones that you have not done for more than 25 years. So, no more talking about inauspicious stuff. At least not until you have finished all that you started decades ago.'

Stepping back, she looked at him, ' We are still stuck with the saree problem, Master. What are we going to do about it and what are you going to wear?'

Ravi placed a finger on his lips, and slowly walked on his toes like a cat and reaching up, brought down a black suitcase and placed it on the bed.

Madhu looked at the loft which appeared pretty clean and sans dust or cobwebs and then looked at the black suitcase that looked nearly brand new but not new like it had been purchased in the recent past.

Ravi opened the suitcase revealing what lay inside and Madhu saw two large cloth-covered packages lying there along with a smaller one that looked like a box of sorts. They looked expensive and it was obvious to Madhu what they were and she looked at him, ' Wedding clothes? Right? But.. how and when?'

The door opened and Parthiban rushed in and informed them that the priest had arrived and rushed out of the room leaving them to their privacy.

Ravi reached down and picking up what was the bigger package, offered it to Madhu, and then she watched him reach down and pick up the slightly smaller package and one more package that was more like a box of sorts.

She looked at him curiously and he looked back with smiley and crinkling eyes and said, ' That is for later. After you are ready, ma'am. I will leave you now and go and change in Amma's room.'

Opening the door, he stopped and looked at her, ' Take your time and please, lock the door while you change up.'

Madhurima thanked him and then her eyes went back to the large parcel that he had gifted her and looked at him again with curiosity but all she got from him was a shy smile. A loving smile.

Placing the rather heavy package on the bed, she went to close the door and coming back sat down and stared at the package and wondered what it could be.

' Obviously a brand new silk saree ' she told herself and then whimpered and looked in the mirror, ' Green saree with a cream and red blouse. Premji gave it as a set and I wore them to honor his last wish. But what do I do if Ravi has selected a saree in some shade of blue or pink or worse, green which is what I am already wearing?'

She slowly unwrapped the parcel and took out a long box that confirmed that it held a saree and gently opened it and froze in surprise that soon dissolved and morped into delight and gratitude and she whispered to his room, ' And here I was, doubting the selection of my man who thinks of everything and forgets nothing.'

The saree that lay nestled inside the soft tissue paper was the traditional one worn by Bengali brides. The name of this saree was " Dhakai Jamdani Benarasi ".

Avan, Aval Adhu 461

Major Param Singh and the rest of his Chakravyuh team were taking stock of their new assignment when they all heard the sounds of the two-wheeler rushing towards them. He quickly signaled the others to be on alert and went towards the front gate accompanied by two commandos. Before they could reach the gate, the vehicle that had alerted them to somebody coming towards them, entered the gate. The vehicle was a defunct TVS 50 Two-stroke engined model whose production had been halted way back in 2010 and the man who had driven it was an even older model of the human species.

The short portly old man did his best to halt the old vehicle by grabbing the hand brakes but his efforts were in vain. For, instead of coming to a halt, the worn-out brake shoes inside the brake drum protested by making loud screeching noises that all the birds took flight in fear and it also brought Rasaathi Ammal running out and exclaiming, ' Vaanga, poosari. I knew it was you from the noises your bike made. Come quickly.'

The priest tried to slow down by placing both his legs on the ground but sadly they did not reach it and finally, it took Major Param's strong Punjabi arms to bring the tiny moped to a complete halt.

The priest thanked him and pointing to Major Param Singh asked Rasaathi Ammal, ' You mentioned a wedding. Is this the groom or friends of the bride? Who is getting married to whom, Master amma?'

Rasaathi Ammal waved her hands, ' I will tell you all about it, Poosari. You first come inside ' and looking at Param, ' It's okay. He is our temple priest and means no harm. He is here to conduct a wedding ' and saying that, disappeared into the house with the priest in tow.

Major Param looked at his commandos, ' Did I hear right? Did she mention a wedding? Who is getting married to whom? ' and quickly made a call to Raman who answered on the first ring, ' Param, I was just about to call you.'

' Oh! What about?'

' A wedding is going to take place in the next few minutes and a few visitors will be attending it. So, no need to get all worried or worked up about them. They are all part of the family and close friends of Ravi and the lady. '

' Okay, Raman.'

' Good, I am glad that you cleared that all up for me.'

' All right, Major. Why did you call me now?'

' A fat priest on a wailing bike..'

' What was that, Major? I didn't get you. What fat priest and why is he wailing?'

' Well, it does not matter now for you answered all my questions. Bye, Raman.'

Raman's voice was soft but tough as he spoke, ' Param, maybe if you stopped drinking so much, you would not see fat priests in your dreams and rather see some fat woman instead ' and laughing loudly, disconnected the call.

Major Param Singh stared angrily at the phone as if it was Raman's face and after a few moments, seeing him still staring at his phone and mumbling or chanting some nasty curses, one of the commandos politely enquired out of concern for their leader's mental well being, if he was okay.

Param looked at him and smiling sadly said, ' No. I have not been okay for a long time. I have not been okay since Rudran's arrival and after him came this present demon called Raman and then that other scary chap, Radhu joined them and our team. God only knows where these people were born and why they were born at all and God only knows why I am forced to deal with all of them?'

Pointing to the house, ' A wedding is going to take place inside the house and I have been informed that a few visitors close to the family will be attending it. So, nothing major to worry about. But, keep your eyes focussed on the forest at all times for if any danger should come, my instincts tell me that it will come from there.'

Inside the house, Rasaathi Ammal asked worriedly if it was okay for a marriage to take place in the afternoon. The priest smiled and said it was okay. ' Master amma, I am a Brahmin and well versed in the Vedas and Upanishads. But, I am telling you that a kalyanam can take place at any time. What is important is that the man and woman concerned are okay with it. All this time, panchangam, etc. are for us humans and not for Gods.'

Seeing Ravi coming out of the bedroom, dressed in a cream dhoti and cream shirt, he whispered, ' Forget all that I know, for here comes master, who knows more than me and more than I will ever learn in a hundred lives.'

Ravi welcomed him warmly and bending down touched the priest's feet and took his blessing. The priest blessed him and once Ravi stood up, looked at him with folded hands, and said, ' Master iyaa, it gives me so much joy and peace to be here conducting your wedding. Thank you for choosing me, sir.'

Ravi grabbing his hands, begged him not to use such exalted words, and said, ' Poosari iyaa, I am that same Ravi that you have been seeing from the time you came to our village when I was five years old. You are practically like my father and a part of our family. I am nothing. I am nobody.'

The priest waved his hands and said, ' Master, if you are nobody, then what about me and the others? Your energy permeates in every part and in every cell of this village. If today this village is so well known then it is because of all the sacrifices that you have made for it and for all of us.'

Then hearing a loud gasp, followed by more gasps, Ravi and the priest turned towards the other bedroom and both of them gasped for there stood Madhurima dressed in a traditional red and white Bengal wedding saree, and without even realizing it, Rasaathi Ammal whispered, ' The goddess has stepped out of the temple and has entered our house and our lives.'

They saw each other across the room. Their eyes sought each other crossing the distance that separated them and they stood united and as one.

Ravi moved towards her and she moved towards him and all the while their eyes were glued to each other.

His eyes whispered to her, ' I have known you all my life and I am sure I have known you before this life and many times before this birth.'

Madhu whispered back, ' I know Jaanu for I feel the same way and felt that connection the very first time I saw you.'

They both met in the middle of the house and she looked at her saree and thanked him and he asked, ' Did I choose right?'

She nodded and then she him open the third package that looked like a box and gasped in shock and surprise and began to cry softly as he slipped the traditional Shakha and Pola bangles on each arm, saying, ' Your mother should be doing this, but..'

She looked at the white and red bangles and looked into his eyes and said, ' Jaanu, you are everything to me and I mean every connection and every relation that was and that is ' and then unexpectedly, sank down to her knees and touched his feet.

Ravi gently lifted her up and said, ' Please, don't do that. You and I are one. Equal and the same in everything.'

Madhu took his hands and kissed them and said, ' Thank you.'
