"Era of Big Data"

_______

Hello! Is this Gordon's Pizza?

No sir, it's Google's Pizza.

Did I dial the wrong number?

No sir, Google bought the pizza store.

Oh, alright - then I’d like to place an order, please.

Okay sir, do you want the usual?

The usual? You know what my usual is?

According to the caller ID, the last 15 times you’ve ordered a 12-slice with double-cheese, sausage, and thick crust.

Okay - that’s what I want this time too.

May I suggest that this time you order an 8-slice with ricotta, arugula, and tomato instead?

No, I hate vegetables.

But your cholesterol is not good.

How do you know?

Through the subscribers guide. We have the results of your blood tests for the last 7 years.

Maybe so, but I don’t want the pizza you suggest – I already take medicine for high cholesterol.

But you haven’t taken the medicine regularly. 4 months ago you purchased from Drugsale Network a box of only 30 tablets.

I bought more from another drugstore.

It's not showing on your credit card, sir.

I paid in cash.

But according to your bank statement, you did not withdraw that much cash.

I have another source of cash.

This is not showing on your last tax form unless you got it from an undeclared income source.

To HELL With Ur Pizza..!!

ENOUGH!!

I'm sick of Google, Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp. I'm going to an island without internet, where there’s no cellphone line, and no one to spy on me ...

I understand sir, but you’ll need to renew your PASSPORT ... it expired 5 weeks ago.

Excellent response from a journalist from SkyNews Australia to young people who recently demonstrated for the climate:

"You are the first generation that has demanded air conditioning in every room; your lessons are all done on the computer; you have a TV in every room; spend the whole day using electronic means; instead of walking to school take a fleet of private vehicles that clog the public streets; you are the largest consumer of consumer goods in history, continually buying the most expensive clothing to be "trendy"; your protest is advertised by digital and electronic means.

"Guys, before protesting, turn off the air conditioning, go to school on foot, turn off your phones and read a book, make yourself a sandwich instead of buying packaged food.

"None of this will happen, because you are selfish, ill-educated, manipulated by people who use you, claiming to have a noble cause while you enjoy the wildest Western luxury. Wake up, mature and close your mouth. Inform yourself of the facts before protesting ”.

Below is a video of a 59-year old chimpanzee facing her last days. She was so emotional to see her former caretaker, Dr Van Hoof , for the last time. A reminder of the love they shared was the best gift before her last breath.

Animals too need love and compassion, just like us.

Tunnel of Love in Klevan (Ukraine) is the name given by local people to this fairytale track. It is not every day you get on the train and find yourself surrounded by natural green arches.

The unusual railroad track is located approximately 7 kilometers from the city Klevan. A new tourist legend says that couples who ride together through the green tunnel and make a wish will get what they want.

The track, which is known locally as The Tunnel of Love, is becoming an increasingly common spot for couples, particularly during spring, when a huge canopy of trees along the track grows over either side to form an arch. This arch stretches for up to three kilometers and looks like a green tunnel of trees and couples wishful of a few moments of romantic solitude are often seen strolling around.

However, the railway track is not completely out of use. According to a Daily Mail report, the tunnel is actually a part of a private railway serving a fibreboard factory in eastern Ukraine near Kleven. The train carrying logs chugs along the tunnel, or rather through it, thrice a day. That occasional activity is what, perhaps, prevents the trees from growing in the middle of the track, allowing the tunnel to remain as it has through the year.

India may have the Taj Mahal, and Paris is the city of love, but Ukraine has this incredible, ethereal Tunnel of Love.

One day Aryabhatta sat at home and started counting the friends who are not afraid of their wives.

That’s how he invented zero (0)

Years later Ramanujam started counting the number of people who are afraid of their wives.

That’s how “infinity “ was invented.

Hello darkness, my old friend

I've come to talk with you again

Because a vision softly creeping

Left its seeds while I was sleeping

And the vision that was planted in my brain

Still remains

Within the sound of silence

Why India and the World Need Gandhi

The great leader envisioned a world where every citizen has dignity and prosperity.

Upon reaching India in 1959, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. remarked, “To other countries I may go as a tourist, but to India I come as a pilgrim.” He added, “Perhaps, above all, India is the land where the techniques of nonviolent social change were developed that my people have used in Montgomery, Alabama, and elsewhere throughout the American South. We have found them to be effective and sustaining — they work!”

The guiding light whose inspiration got Dr. King to India was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the Mahatma, the Great Soul. On Wednesday, we observe his 150th birth anniversary. Gandhi Ji, or Bapu, continues to give courage to millions globally.

Gandhian methods of resistance ignited a spirit of hope among several African nations. Dr. King remarked: “When I was visiting in Ghana, West Africa, Prime Minister Nkrumah told me that he had read the works of Gandhi and felt that nonviolent resistance could be extended there. We recall that South Africa has had bus boycotts also.”

Nelson Mandela referred to Gandhi as “the Sacred Warrior” and wrote, “His strategy of noncooperation, his assertion that we can be dominated only if we cooperate with our dominators, and his nonviolent resistance inspired anticolonial and antiracist movements internationally in our century.”

For Mr. Mandela, Gandhi was Indian and South African. Gandhi would have approved. He had the unique ability to become a bridge between some of the greatest contradictions in human society.

In 1925, Gandhi wrote in “Young India”: “It is impossible for one to be internationalist without being a nationalist. Internationalism is possible only when nationalism becomes a fact, i.e., when peoples belonging to different countries have organized themselves and are able to act as one man.” He envisioned Indian nationalism as one that was never narrow or exclusive but one that worked for the service of humanity.

Mahatma Gandhi also epitomized trust among all sections of society. In 1917, Ahmedabad in Gujarat witnessed a huge textile strike. When the conflict between the mill workers and owners escalated to a point of no return, it was Gandhi who mediated an equitable settlement.

Gandhi formed the Majoor Mahajan Sangh, an association for workers’ rights. At first sight, it may seem just another name of an organization but it reveals how small steps created a large impact. During those days, “Mahajan” was used as a title of respect for elites. Gandhi inverted the social structure by attaching the name “Mahajan” to “Majoor,” or laborers. With that linguistic choice, Gandhi enhanced the pride of workers.

And Gandhi combined ordinary objects with mass politics. Who else could have used a charkha, a spinning wheel, and khadi, Indian homespun cloth, as symbols of economic self-reliance and empowerment for a nation?

Who else could have created a mass agitation through a pinch of salt! During colonial rule, Salt Laws, which placed a new tax on Indian salt, had become a burden. Through the Dandi March in 1930, Gandhi challenged the Salt Laws. His picking up a small lump of natural salt from the Arabian Sea shore led to the historic civil disobedience movement.

There have been many mass movements in the world, many strands of the freedom struggle even in India, but what sets apart the Gandhian struggle and those inspired by him is the wide-scale public participation. He never held administrative or elected office. He was never tempted by power.

For him, independence was not the absence of external rule. He saw a deep link between political independence and personal empowerment. He envisioned a world where every citizen has dignity and prosperity. When the world spoke about rights, Gandhi emphasized duties. He wrote in “Young India”: “The true source of rights is duty. If we all discharge our duties, rights will not be far to seek.” He wrote in the journal Harijan, “Rights accrue automatically to him who duly performs his duties.”

Gandhi gave us the doctrine of trusteeship, which emphasized the socio-economic welfare of the poor. Inspired by that, we should think about a spirit of ownership. We, as inheritors of the earth, are responsible for its well-being, including that of the flora and fauna with whom we share our planet.

In Gandhi, we have the best teacher to guide us. From uniting those who believe in humanity to furthering sustainable development and ensuring economic self-reliance, Gandhi offers solutions to every problem.

We in India are doing our bit. India is among the fastest when it comes to eliminating poverty. Our sanitation efforts have drawn global attention. India is also taking the lead in harnessing renewable resources through efforts like the International Solar Alliance, which has brought together several nations to leverage solar energy for a sustainable future. We want to do even more, with the world and for the world.

As a tribute to Gandhi, I propose what I call the Einstein Challenge. We know Albert Einstein’s famous words on Gandhi: “Generations to come will scarce believe that such a one as this ever in flesh and blood walked upon this earth.”

How do we ensure the ideals of Gandhi are remembered by future generations? I invite thinkers, entrepreneurs, and tech leaders to be at the forefront of spreading Gandhi’s ideas through innovation.

Let us work shoulder to shoulder to make our world prosperous and free from hate, violence, and suffering. That is when we will fulfill Mahatma Gandhi’s dream, summed up in his favorite hymn, “Vaishnava Jana To,” which says that a true human is one who feels the pain of others, removes misery and is never arrogant.

The world bows to you, beloved Bapu!

Jannal Oram 361

Raman watched quietly as V.k.Singh pulled the chair closer and seated himself and placing both his hands on the bed, pressed it and then bounced himself a couple of times on it and said ' nothing like sleeping in one's own bed and that could be a mat or just a sheet and yet it matters not when you are sleeping under your own roof with your loved ones all around you, safe and in peace.'

V.K.Singh knew from experience that Raman was pacing himself but building himself to declare something important and even though he knew it was wrong and not decent to interrupt him, he dived in boldly ' Raman, nobody ever said life was going to be easy and it most certainly is not for people who live their lives respecting and listening hard to their conscience, and not for a day but all days of their lives.'

Raman used his clenched fists to punch the bed hard, once, twice and snarled ' easy is not what I wanted from life and I have never shied away from a challenge or a tough situation but this is different for it involves all those that I love and consider sacred.'

' What can we do Ram? we have to play the game as this mad man dictates and it is according to his rules son.'

Raman smiled ' rules my dear Singh sir can be bent and twisted and played to our advantage. I am a lawyer sir and never forget that for a second and this deadly game that this man is playing is what I wanted to talk to you about.'

' But what is there to talk Raman and all that is left now is the endgame and for us to hunt him down and end his miserable life, once and for all.'

Raman raised his right eyebrow in a question mark and laughed and said ' if only that was so easily done. No sir, I think we have to do something different, think out of the box and lure him out for this watching and waiting for him will not help us in the least and will only give him more time to recuperate, regroup and muster more resources.'

V.K.Singh spread his hands ' But he is alone now Ram. His lady friend is dead and his master Santoshi has killed himself in Belgium, and there is nothing, and no one left for him to turn to now for he knows that we are on to all his master's contacts and resources.'

' That you know of Mr.Singh but what if...'

' What if, what Ram?'

' Sir, what I am trying to say is that you cannot be a hundred percent sure that there is nobody left for this man to turn to and to seek help.'

' Ram, we can only do our best and hope for the best.'

' Sorry sir, your best is not going to be enough now and it will take much more than that for us to defeat this man and right now he is hurting badly and must be thirsting for vengeance.'

' Okay then. you tell me what I must do and I will do exactly as you tell me to.'

' Well for that we must wait to call me and I am very sure that he is going to reach out to me for it is I who killed his lady and the mother of his child.'

Far away and inside the cool confines of a coffee day branch, Jamun sat sipping a cup of black coffee and nobody noticed him for he was just another middle-aged sales representative hunched in front of his laptop.

He wondered if Gulab would have recognised him in this rather typical Madrasi look of a thick moustache and glasses and he had taken pains to do his eyebrows too. He was dressed in ill-fitting formal clothes, and the style and make screamed their cheap brand which sadly catered to the struggling mass of door to door salesmen and that too of the age groups 40 and above.

Malik was scanning all the news reports on Google, Youtube and none of them mentioned a single detail about Raman and Gulab. But all of them carried the reports about the killing of Minister Vaidyanathan and also the bomb blast in General Hospital last night.

He leaned back against the chair and cursed softly in Hindi for he missed both Gulab and Santoshi but the former more than the latter.

Malik knew that Santoshi would kill himself rather than subject himself to the horrors of torture and pain and that too with Brigadier Sooryanarayanan baying for their blood for killing his daughter.

A small movement on the top of the screen flashed red and Jamun knew that it was a mail and he scrolled to the logo and tapped it softly and the mail opened itself.

It was an e-mail from Santoshi and probably the last he had sent to anyone.

' Malik, this is the number of a contact in Chennai. Use it sparingly and carefully. You can trust this man for I have known him for many years now. I will be no more when you are reading this and this contact of mine will be aware of it too, and so might be a bit hesitant to help you out when you seek him out. Give him time to respond to you for he is highly placed in the Government and has great contacts both in Chennai and Delhi and so will play hard to get to. But he will help you eventually for he owes me and owes me a lot.

I have transferred 25 million dollars to various offshore accounts and the details are here along with the passwords to access them. All the best Malik. I hope you get your revenge and also escape to a better life.

If you do escape alive, please keep watch over my family.Bye.'

All of Malik's concentration was on the contact's number and he called it.

The mobile rang and a voice said hello and Malik replied ' our master is no more.'

Dead silence and then the voice spoke ' I know. Listen to me carefully. Use a new phone each time you call me and please call me only if it is really important.'

' Okay.'

The voice spoke again ' Raman is alive and well although his body has taken a hell of a beating.'

' Are you sure for none could have escaped the bomb that I had set up?'

' Not only did he escape alive but also saved many officers lives in the process by throwing himself on them and taking them down and away from the blast for otherwise they all would have been dead including your foe.'

Malik thanked him and the call was ended by the man on the other end.

From the brief conversation, Malik knew his contact was a South Indian, convent educated and belonged to the elite upper class. Fiftyish or late fortyish at the most. The barest of accent hinted that the man must have spent some time in England and that could have been for his education or work but must have been only for a few years and not more than that.

He closed the Laptop and thought ' So, you still live. Good for you. Just can't wait to gift you more presents and see how you unravel before my very own eyes and then I will kill you and place your body near Gulabs and let her feast with her dead eyes on what her Jamun has gifted her and our child.'
