Good morning. I wish you a great day.

"I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in. John Muir

The clock reads 4.00 AM, and with it's every shift and movement to denote a second passed, a minute passed, my heart too beats and whispers 'Sat, move your sorry arse and let's get going bro'.

My fingers hover over the keyboard as I try to finish the thought and emotion for the day to all those who I love, cherish and will to fight and live on and so the struggle begins between the body and mind and as always I smile knowing well that both the temporary body and the eternal energy of thought are whispering the same pleas and of the solitude of the dark outside world and the solitude that the early dawn brings.

I park my car in one of the small lanes close to the beach so that I will be able to grab my camera phone and be present and in attendance and say lovingly to the morning star and my only sun 'Present sir, Ullen Iyaa'.

Apart from the street lights, very few lights are on as most slumber inside the concrete cages and jails and I walk slowly and always in complete gratitude to that entity, to that power which has bestowed the awareness that I am alive and I am kicking, for now.

The dogs as I pass them in dozens all over Besant Nagar and in all the streets do the same thing, and lift one ear and track my footsteps as I come towards them and as I leave them behind, and drift back to deep sleep dreaming of KFC garbage and garbage from Dhaba and Cozee that might just hold a juicy drum stick( Chicken).

The doors of both the temples, Ratnagireeshwarar and Varasiddhi are closed and the Gods hidden behind huge doors but the small and flimsy door of my soul is open as I bare it and speak my prayers in full faith that my God has his ears open at all times like an ATM, 24/7,365 days and 14 billion years, since the Big bang.

I walk not to just for the health of my body but for the wealth of my soul. I walk into the morning darkness and gift away the darkness that is in my soul and even though my favorite songs are lulling me in my ears, my soul has sprung awake with thoughts for the next chapters of the story that I am writing and also with answers and most importantly, understanding and realization that " ALL IS WELL,ALL IS WELL" when the bells of your soul sync with the tinkle and the drums of the universe and its God.

Lots of love, and I wish you all a great weekend. Be well.

They sat numbering six around the table, three couples but there was present one soul and one thought among all their hearts and it was called love.

Raman ate slowly, chewing on the soft chappatis made with Ghee along with the simple potato and peas curry and sighing looked at Kamakshi ' Amma, just a few mouthfuls and I am already feeling better and the oppressive weight that I brought along seems to have taken wing and flown off somewhere.'

Looking at Jeeva ' Sweetie, even if you begin to hate me and treat me badly, I will bear it happily for I have your mother's food and that is enough.'

Kamakshi smiled and Raman looked at her and when the others joined her and smiled as one as if they were enjoying a secret joke which he knew was on him, he turned to Jeeva who was staring daggers at him and asked her ' Okay, I know I have said something to offend you but you are throwing daggers at me while our parents are throwing smiles at me.'

Raman's mother looked at him ' idiot, the food that you are eating and singing high praises about were all made by Jeeva and only by her.'

Jeeva looked at him and winked ' Don't worry baby, I am not angry at all but will still hand out punishment for tonight which is that while we enjoy the payasam that I made, you will sit and stare, moaning sadly and all the while chanting,I will not make foolish assumptions again.'

Shaktivel shook his head and in a serious tone said ' Iyaa, I feel sad for you for I have already sampled the payasam and I must admit that the child has more or less equaled her mother.'

Raman smiled and then suddenly turned his face away remembering something and Manigandan asked him in a gentle voice ' Enna Raman sir.have you remembered something?'

Raman nodded and looked at them ' Vijay loved payasam and he would go mad over it. I remember once long ago when we all attended a colleagues elder sisters wedding in Salem, Vijay gulped down nearly a bucket of payasam and then spent the return train journey feeling totally sick and with an awful tummy ache.'

Jeeva got up and helped her mother in serving bowls of payasam for the others and placing a bowl in front of Raman, she gently kissed his head and sat down in her chair.

He looked at her ' what, no enforcing the punishments I see? ' to which she replied ' I thought of it but then you attacked me and melted my heart with that payasam story. So, for Vijay's sake, I thought I will forgive you and let you off this time.'

Jeeva's dad Manigandan took out a small piece of paper from his shirt pocket and handed it to Raman ' A police officer Damodaran called a few times and told me to inform you to call him back the moment you got back home.'

The rest looked at Raman and Jeeva spoke aloud ' Damodaran, why does that name sound so familiar Ram?'

Raman took out his mobile and began to dial the number that Manigandan had written down, and shaking his head, replied ' not just Damodaran but Assistant Commissioner Damodaran who is the officer in charge of our Suja's case.'

A dark pallor fell all over their faces and minds and it was as if they were out in the open sunshine and a sudden flurry of dark thunder clouds happened overhead casting shadows on all it surveyed.

Holding the mobile close to his ear, he looked at all of them and whispered ' But, Nobody apart from us know what really happened and that it was the minister who was behind the whole thing which eventually led to our child killing herself. So, God knows what he wants now or maybe he just called to say that they were closing the case as there was nothing else to do or take it any further.'

Hearing a hello, Raman quickly put the call on speakerphone and placed it on the table and answered ' This is Raman speaking.Mr.Damodaran, you had tried contacting me yesterday but I was not in Chennai sir. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.'

Damodaran was an Assistant Commissioner but he knew the pecking order very well and also knew that close friendship and close proximity that Raman had with Minister Durai Murugan and his children. He had seen enough of both Raman and Kavita and so it was with a rather humble voice that he conversed.

' It is okay Mr. Raman. All of us are busy with our own work and world.'

' Thank you for your kind words, sir. Please tell me how I can be of help to you?'

' Mr.Raman, If you are free tomorrow morning, could you please come to Vijaya Hospital by about 10.00 am.'

' Okay sir but you still haven't told me what you want from me.'

Everyone there heard the words that the AC Damodaran said ' It is not me sir although we will get to that later. But somebody has been repeatedly asking for you, sir.'

Raman looked at the others whose faces reflected his surprise and said ' Asking for me? Who would be asking for me, sir?'

Again, everyone heard the voice of Damodaran softening dramatically and speak softly ' Mohan seems to be coming out of his coma sir, and for the past two days, he has been repeatedly saying two words.'

Raman's fingers began to tremble as they slowly reached for his mobile and his voice failed him as he asked ' What two words AC sir? What is Mohan saying?'

Assistant Commissioner Damodaran sighed sadly ' I am sorry but they are not words but names, and they are Suja and Raman.'

The words of Assistant commissioner Damodaran were heard loud and clear by all of them and memories of Suja and her death coursed through all of them and Raman whispered in a tired voice ' Okay sir. I will see you at the hospital tomorrow morning. Thank you very much, sir, and I and my family appreciate your efforts in this case.'

Assistant commissioner Damodaran a veteran cop and one who had solved many a difficult case replied ' Mr.Raman, you and I are both in the service of this nation and its citizens and both of us are part of the law and justice system. So, I will use that point to make my point about this case.'

Raman remained silent and Assistant commissioner Damodaran taking his silence to proceed continued ' I am not blind or deaf and I have seen and heard too much about this case and the people involved in it. There is just no reason for a young lady to kill herself and that too when she is getting ready to marry and importantly to a nice young man. So, it was not her love or her fiance that led her to this sad end but something else and that is where I am lost for it is not a brick wall but the great wall of China that is in my way of getting to solve this case.

I know Raman, what your life is going through and also the political ramifications surrounding it for most of us know that there exists a deep and bitter rivalry between Minister Vaidyanathan and Minister Durai Murugan and so logic dictates that if you are close with one then the other automatically becomes your enemy.

But from what I have learnt about you, it is clear that you are a man of high principles and discipline and will not bend or break the law to suit your whims and fancies and here you and your family are facing tragedy after tragedy.

Help me Raman and help yourself in the process. Please trust me, and let's solve this case together, and make the criminals pay for their sins.'

' Sir, Thank you very much for your kind and understanding words although I am confused by them and about who you are alluding to. We just want to go on with our normal lives as normal people like us do and we don't have the energy or power to do anything about evil things that befall us and we just have to carry the burden on our already broken and bent backs like millions in our country do.

Sir, one more thing before I end this conversation and that is please be careful of what you say and to whom you say it for right now no one is to be trusted. Not even your colleagues.'

Assistant commissioner Damodaran ended the call and looked at the mobile intensely and then smiled and his wife who was serving dinner asked him ' Damo, what are you smiling about?'

Assistant commissioner Damodaran shook his head ' nothing da. Just wondering how a lion can pretend to be a lamb and also wondering what it is going to do dressed as a lamb?'

NOTA-NONE OF THE ABOVE

' Sir, Satish sir. Yarukku unga Votu?' and the simple question left me confused, depressed and moody for the rest of the day and my answer left the person who asked me that and the others irritated and angry.

' I am not sure and maybe Nota' was my answer and now a few days later I am pretty sure that is exactly what I am going to do.

The man and the men around him said and gave many opinions ' Sir, don't waste your vote on such silly things and ideas and vote for someone who has a chance to win, maybe DMK or AIADMK.'

For me, my vote is not only my duty but my show of loyalty and belief in the emotion and pride called India. Back in school, hundreds of times I have stood in rows and said and sang loudly our national pledge under the tri-colors

India is my country and all Indians are my brothers and sisters.
I love my country and I am proud of its rich and varied heritage.
I shall always strive to be worthy of it.
I shall give my parents, teachers and all elders respect and treat everyone with courtesy.
To my country and my people, I pledge my devotion.
In their well-being and prosperity alone, lies my happiness.

But, that is not the case today for it has become more divisive and deep chasms have broken open between people of different faiths and beliefs.

I had so much trust in Modi, more than BJP and although I knew so little about him and his politics I wished, willed for him to take us and our country forward. Sadly, the dream has cracked and instead turned into my worst nightmare.

Forget the economy and the shambles it is in for that has been the case all through the years but I am talking about my brothers and sisters of different faith and food habits and the sense of division among its citizens starting from the north to the south.

More than anything, my anger and confusion is about Modi and his government not taking any drastic and immediate steps to punish rapists and set an example. And the rapes go on for the men in power are busy raping our own mother India.

Jallianwala Bagh massacre happened in 1919 and hit a century just a few days ago and I want you to stop and think and ponder the whole day that apart from Colonel Dyer who
masterminded the whole massacre, he alone could not have shot the thousands of bullets which led to a stampede and in the end, the dead numbered 300 or more and the dying 1500 or more.

The bullets came out of guns that belonged to our own blood and culture, from our own brothers who made up the group of ninety Sikh, Gurkha, Baluchi, and Rajput soldiers from the 2nd/9th Gurkha Rifles, the 54th Sikhs and the 59th Sind Rifles.

Sikhs shooting into Sikhs. Rajputs shooting into Rajputs.

We Indians never stood as one and defended our land when Mohammed Qasim invaded Sindh in the 8th century. We Indians never stood as one and defended our land when the colonial Britishers took over our land and which led to many Jallianwala Bagh massacres.

We Indians shot and killed the father of this nation. We Indians shot and killed our own prime minister. We Indians assassinated Rajiv Gandhi.

We Indians, We Tamil people shot and killed our own brothers and sisters during the Sterlite protest.

So you see the pattern and habits that are deeply ingrained in our psyche and it goes back a long, looong way.

Now, forget all that and think of all the money that is being distributed for votes and also the promises of the very same nature being made by both the BJP and Congress and that too openly.

Open promises of Open Bribery. So, the politicians are bribing the citizens to vote for them so that they can come back and make the money spent during elections and maybe a Millions times over.

So, when I walk into the booth on election day I plan to use NOTA for the very first time in my adult life.

Poda, RAM rule panna enna, Ravan rule panna enna. Chor vantha enna, chowkidar vantha enna.

For me, NOTA is the only peaceful way available to protest, and start a movement much alike like what the great leaders did with Nonviolence movement and Ahimsa tactics.

Real and enduring change cannot be brought with violence or chest beating and so I see NOTA as the way for me.

I declare that I am of sound mind and body while I am saying this and all these are my own opinions and thoughts which I have taken the liberty to share with you and share with you alone.

For whom will the polls toll

Good morning. I wish you a beautiful day.

"I had an inheritance from my father,
It was the moon and the sun.
And though I roam all over the world,
The spending of it's never done.
Ernest Hemingway, For Whom the Bell Tolls

Tamil Nadu was a different place the last time it faced an election and I too was a different person back in 2016 when my home state went to its assembly polls.

A few years earlier, 2014 was also a very different year for the whole of India, as the air was full of chants of the name " Namo, Namo" and as expected, BJP swept into power with a majority and on the shoulders of Modi from Gujarat.

Grudgingly, secretly many hoped, prayed and wished that the new Prime minister Modi would make the difference and be the difference that India had been missing since it came alive.

Here we are in 2019 and it is election time once again and we Tamils find that our state is once again facing two of them instead of one that comes every five years and that is because of the passing of " Amma".

The death of a great leader leaves behind a vacuum and a void that just cannot be filled and it is now clear that the tiny boots of the late Amma cannot be filled for although physically diminutive, she was a larger than life character and personality, and though her feet were small, her strides were gigantic and the shadow she cast on her party and the other also-rans was all-encompassing and total.

It is more than two years since she passed on and yet as I write these thoughts, I feel sad and moody, thinking about her, remembering her and also entertaining the thought " WHAT IF AMMA WAS STILL AROUND".

Yesterday, I stopped at the nearby Pharmacy to buy some vitamin pills and the staff there know me well as an actor and also are familiar about my career and one of them blurted ' Sir, actors should not enter politics and should stick to their acting craft.'

I looked at him and asked ' Why do you say that?' and he replied ' sir, what do actors know about politics and what do they know about stuff concerning the running of a Government?.

I smiled ' Firstly, the most important qualification a person needs to enter politics and then to rule when coming to power is a kind and understanding heart. If that is there, then everything will fall into place. secondly, what does any person need to know about the current politics when all the current politicians are just plain and simply corrupt and criminal in nature and they mostly enter politics with two things in mind and that is power and money. Power to lord over all that they survey and money to buy and indulge their whims and fancies.

So, tell me isn't an actor a better person than these normal politicians. More importantly, have you forgotten that the late Anna, Kalaignar, Puratchi Thalaivar, and Amma were from the cine field and add to that the name of captain too and now take your time and reply, please.'

So, it is election day today and after my walk, run, crawl and also after greeting the rising sun and at the same time wondering if the sun is now going to rise to power in Tamil Nadu and in Delhi, I will pray to the eye in the sky who sees all and ask it for deliverance and peace for my land and its people.

So, it is back to the pale sands of Olcott school with whose color will merge the khakis of the police force and outside the school, the various party flags will be a riot of colors like actor Ramarajans costumes and I like many will stand and marvel at the leaves, mango, sunrise, hand, drums, pressure cooker, pot, torchlight, gift box, symbols although I can see all of them as one middle finger and so I too will put out my finger, get it stamped and cast my vote for Nota and proudly flash my middle finger and tell them ' F..k all of you for I have no faith in any one of you.'

Good morning. I wish you a beautiful day. All the best.

" A book is a book and will remain a book unless written by a good cook. A cook is just a cook and will remain a cook unless he or she learns to juggle, manage and use what is available and still somehow turn out a delicious dish.

A book too, is a dish and an author, writer a great cook. Taking just a few emotions and using just a few characters, a great writer whips up a great dish of a book which can be read again and again and then treasured away in the confines of a soul.

A book can be a beautiful journey which you voyage into with you and the author holding hands and you tango on the voyage. The author takes the lead in the dance and then you begin to lead as the book begins to tickle and churn up your imagination, leaving you constantly pausing mid page and wondering about the whys and why not's and what ifs.

Many books you find have become not only your friends but constant companions and sometimes your only companions. As you grow older, books you realize are the real treasures that one can ever hoard and bring out to enjoy when the urge comes on.

I leave you with my wishes, for you and your books by saying " Bon voyage". Satish.

Philosophy, no just Fillosophy of life. Movement and choice. From father and into mother and then out into the world. The journey out of the womb seems to be a step into another world and another journey. Life seems to be a journey of collisions and nudges and the tango continues.

From basic sympathy, my soul is full of empathy as I understand that everyone is on a difficult journey fighting their own terrible battles. The least, I think I can do is smile in kindness and let my eyes reflect my understanding.

The light from the sun takes just about 8 minutes to reach Earth but takes hundreds of thousands of years, maybe even Millions of years to escape the womb of the Sun and be delivered to us mere mortals.

God only knows how many lives and years it will take for us to escape the wombs we have created for ourselves away from the first womb of our mother.

The womb of the sun. The womb of the earth. The womb of our mother and the most important womb of all and that is the soul that we are. Happy trails as you journey through life and light. Satish.

Would someone mistake you for Jesus❓

A few years ago a group of salesmen went to a week's regional sales convention in New York. At the John F. Kennedy International Airport, and in their rush, with tickets and briefcases to return to Texas, one of these salesmen accidentally knocked over a table which held a display of apples. Apples flew everywhere.

Without stopping or looking back, they all managed to reach the plane in time for their nearly-missed the flight. One of them however paused, took a deep breath, got in touch with his feelings and experienced compassion for the girl whose apple stand had been overturned. He told his friends to go on without him. He told one of them to call his wife when they arrived in Nairobi and explain he was to take a later flight. Then he returned to the terminal where the apples were all over the floor. He was glad he did.

The 16-year-old girl was totally blind! She was softly crying, tears running down her cheeks in frustration. At the same time, she was helplessly groping for her spilled produce as the crowd watched and passed by; no one stopping and with no one caring for her plight.

The salesman knelt on the floor with her, gathered up the apples, put them back on the table and helped organize her display. As he did this, he noticed that many of them had become battered and bruised. These he set aside in another basket. When he had finished, he pulled out his wallet and said to the girl; "Here, please take this $100/- for the damage we did. Are you okay?" She nodded through her tears. He continued on with; "I hope we didn't spoil your day too badly."

As the salesman started to walk away, the bewildered blind girl called out to him; "Mister...." He paused and walked back to look into those blind eyes. She continued; "Are you Jesus?" He stopped in mid-stride... and wondered. He gently said; "No, I am nothing like Jesus - He is good, kind, caring, loving, and would never have bumped into your display in the first place." The girl gently nodded; "I only asked because I prayed for Jesus to help me gather the apples. He sent you to help me, so you are like Him - only He knows who will do His will. Thank you for hearing His call, Mister..."

Slowly and in deep thought, he made his way to catch the later flight with that question burning and bouncing about in his soul; 'Are you Jesus?'
