Tamil Nadu state Home minister sat drowning in the darkness of his Govt allocated house on Greamways road and sat absorbing the fatal blows that life had given him a few hours earlier. He had tried calling his wife's number but only got " mobile switched off " message. But,he knew his wife pretty well and also knew that the moment he looked into her eyes she would waver and break and would follow him back to the house like sheep following their shepherd.

Pushing his wife away from the table of his mind,he concentrated solely on the matter at hand and that was the killing of Periya karuppan. He looked at his watch and saw that nearly 30 minutes had passed by since his last conversation with Manohar and his men and slightly anxious to know what the hell was going on,called his man.

The mobile rang and rang and no response and Vaidyanathan felt the pangs of anxiety increasing to the next level and which was now turning into full blown panic attack.

He waited for another 20 minutes and called manohar and this time after a few rings the call was answered by a rough voice with a familiar authoritarian tone to it and vaidyanathan immediately cut the call and switched off the mobile and removed the sim card and crushed it under his foot.

Hands shaking he poured himself a stiff measure of vodka and whispered ' Police, what the f..k are the police doing there and what happened to my men?'

The call vaidyanathan had made to his thug Manohar had been answered by Inspector kumaravel,Red hills police station and it had all started thirty minutes earlier.

The phone rang in Red hills police station and night shift head constable Mohammed who had just walked into the station picked up the lan line and answered ' hello, red hills police station.'

A vague sounding voice squeaked ' sir, muder sir.Lot of bodies sir. Please come soon sir.'

Head constable mohammed came alive instantly and all the tiredness and fatigue vanished as his voice became a bit more loud and serious ' murdera.Where exactly and who are you and what are you doing there?'

The voice had laughed ' Immediately you show your police colors.Anyway,i was just passing by and felt the need to pass urine and so i stopped and finished doing number one and then i saw the bodies.'

Head constable mohammed ' give me the exact directions to the location and stay there until we get there.'

The man had laughed a bit more and had then asked a very curious question ' sir,one doubt sir.Why is passing urine called number one sir?'

Head constable mohammed cursed violently and Inspector kumarvel who was just leaving to his house remarked ' mohammed,Ramzan time, fastingla irukeenga.Ippadi ketta words pesalaama.'

But instead of replying to the inspector, mohammed spoke on the phone ' mister, you stay there and i will show you what number one and what number two is?'

' hello,hello.yei mister.'

The call had been cut and placing the receiver back on the phone, head constable mohammed turned to the inspector kumaravel ' sir,the call was about some murders on the periya palayam road just two kms from the red hills main road.It will take us about ten minutes to reach there.'

Inspector kumarvel,29 years old, unmarried and staying alone in his quarters smiled ' okay, looks like some action for a change. If i go home, all i will do is drink, watch tv and fall asleep. At least a murder will be interesting.enna mohammed.'

Mohammed ' sir,murder illeenga,murders,plural sir.'

Inspector kumaravel's reaction was to turn and walk into his room and open the safe and take out his handgun and attach it to his belt and he and mohammed along with a three other armed constables left to the location from where the call had been made.

But the smart head constable had called the police control room and had given the number from which the call had been made about the murders and just as they were reaching the location,he got a call from the control room saying that the owner of the mobile was a man named Manohar and his address was in madurai and the number was a BSNL one.

Inspector kumravel looked at mohammed ' you think this manohar guy was the one who called us.If it is him then i bet he won't be hanging around waiting for us.'

Head constable mohammed replied ' that is why the public are so scared of us cops and don't want to have anything to do with us.Imagine how much questions and grilling we will put this called under if he is still there in the location.Millions of questions and who knows if the poor guys time is bad then we might book him and lock him up saying that he was the one responsible for all the murders.we will even get the courts permission to keep him in jail for investigation and god knows how long that will last and all that the guy might have done was pissing in the wrong place at the wrong time.'

Inspector kumaravel nodded ' that is what that famous advocate krishnaswamy iyer said in open court and screwed that magistrates happiness.Sad,that at any given point there are thousands of innocents lying in jail without even charges brought against them and all because they are either too poor to afford a lawyer or bail or too innocent and ignorant to do anything about it.'

The police jeep entered the mangrove and after traveling for a minute, the vehicles headlights revealed two other vehicles standing there and the jeep came to a halt.

Inspector kumaravel asked the constable driver to turn the jeep around and shed full light on the scene and when the jeeps light did that, all of them stood in shock as they saw seven bloody dead bodies on the ground.

Kumaravel stood with his hands on his hips and then slowly removed his handgun from the holster and the other policemen became alert and kumaravel whispered ' we first check the whole place to see if anyone is here, dead or alive or injured. Then we will return to the place and will report this to the SP.'

Leaving two armed constables to watch over the murder scene, kumaravel, mohammed and the other constables quickly went through the whole mangrove and finding no one else there came back to the scene of the crime and that is when a mobile phone rang and kumaravel dug it out of one of the dead bodies and then looked at all of them and placed a finger on his lips and answered 'Hello,Inspector kumaravel,Red hills police station, crime branch.Yaar pesarathu.Hello.'

CHAIN OF COMMAND

The order in which authority and power in an organization is wielded and delegated from top management to every employee at every level of the organization. Instructions flow downward along the chain of command and accountability flows upward.According to its proponent Henri Fayol (1841-1925), the more clear cut the chain of command, the more effective the decision making process and greater the efficiency. Military forces are an example of straight chain of command that extends in unbroken line from the top brass to ranks. Also called line of command.

It is typically visualized as a pyramid, where the height of the ranking or person depicts their power status and the width of that level represents how many people or business divisions are at that level relative to the wholethe highest-ranking people are at the apex, and there are very few of them; the base may include thousands of people who have no subordinates. These hierarchies are typically depicted with a tree or triangle diagram, creating an organizational chart . Those nearest the top have more power than those nearest the bottom, and there being fewer people at the top than at the bottom. As a result, superiors in a hierarchy generally have higher status and command greater rewards than their subordinates.

In modern post-feudal states the nominal top of the hierarchy still remains the head of state, which may be a president or a constitutional monarch, although in many modern states the powers of the head of state are delegated among different bodies. Below the head, there is commonly a senate, parliament or congress, which in turn often delegate the day-to-day running of the country to a prime minister. In many democracies, the people are considered to be the notional top of the hierarchy, over the head of state; in reality, the people's power is restricted to voting in elections.

Inspector Kumaravel looked at the mobile phone that belonged to one of the dead men and the one that he had answered and had gotten no response from and turning to head constable mohammed ' that call needs to be traced for it could lead us to the ones behind this crime.'

A painful moan alerted them and they immediately began to check from which one of the bodies the sound had come from and to their surprise they found one man who lay face down on the ground with his hands and legs twisted in a weird and unnatural angle and Kumaravel looked at mohammed who immediately called the control room and requested for medical assistance.

Two of the constables were checking the other bodies when they found the dead Periya karuppan and one of the constables looked at kumaravel ' sir, inspector sir. This man looks familiar sir and i think he belongs to the ruling party sir.'

Inspector kumaravel winced visibly in pain for the already violent crime scene had become more complicated and volatile and he looked at all of them ' careful,if this is somehow involved with the govt and party then we have to walk on water and very carefully or by tomorrow all of us will be shifted and posted out to hell itself.I am warning you no pics or contact with any social media.'

All of them looked at him and al of them knew what a difficult job the young inspector kumaravel had ahead of him.It was going to be one of those night, long, arduous and a downright shitty night shift and all of them knew that there shift was not going to end anytime soon.

Inspector kumaravel made the call and far away his superior officer and to the one he reported,Thiruvallur superintendent of police M. R. Sibi Chakkaravarthi,IPS answered in a smooth and convent educated english accent ' Good evening Inspector Kumaravel.Sollunga.'

Tiruvallur district also known as Thiruvallur District, is an administrative district in the South India One of districts in Chennai in the state of Tamil Nadu. The town of Tiruvallur is the district headquarters.

The district has been divided into three revenue divisions viz, Tiruvallur, Tiruttani and Ponneri. There are four taluks under Tiruvallur division, two taluks under Tiruttani divisions and two taluks under Ponneri division. There are 46 firkas and 820 revenue villages. Likewise there are 12 blocks, 5 Municipalities and 10 town panchayats which implement rural development activities.

' sir, very sorry to call and disturb you so late but i was left with no choice sir.'

' Inspector, honestly,do you think there is something called day and night or complete rest and sleep for us policemen. It is no problem and if you have called me then it must be something serious.'

' sir,we received an anonymous call about an hour from a man who reported that there were dead bodies in a mangrove off periya palayam road.We found seven men of who six are dead and the one who is alive but barely has been badly beaten and we have called for medical backup and they should be here any moment.'

Sp Sibi Chakkaravarthi senses came alert and he looked at his wife and glanced at the tv and she immediately muted the tv set and he waited for kumaravel to continue and he did ' sir,one of the dead looks familiar and is a politician.'

' which party inspector?' and kumaravel in a husky voice ' ruling party sir, govt sir.'

SP Sibi Chakkaravarthi looked at his wife and shook his head and she froze, plates and all in midair and stared at him from the dining table and realised that she was not going to have a quiet dinner with her husband and watch their favourite stars deepika and ranveer in the film Padmavat for which they had subscribed on Tata sky.

Superintendent of police M. R. Sibi Chakkaravarthi,IPS looked at the wall clock ' Inspector,it is about 35 kms from my place to the crime scene and i should be there in about 30 to 40 minutes. We have to be very careful kumaravel and i know that you are aware of it for if the case is connected to the ruling govt then there will be a lot of heat on our dept and we don't need that. The govt and the chief minister are still reeling from the sterlite shooting deaths and not only them our own police dept have been shown in bad light and we don't need anymore complications and negative publicity.I am ordering you at this moment to throw a blanket over the case and i don't want to hear any details of it leaked out or god help me i will get really angry.'

He paused for a second ' Kumaravel, call the Deputy superintendent and request more men and not from any stations but from the barracks. It should do good for the new recruits to get a feel for what their careers hold in store for them.I will see you there soon.'

Superintendent of police M. R. Sibi Chakkaravarthi whistled to his wife and mouthed ' murders, multiple, ruling party involved' and his wife got the message and quickly went to the entrance and asked the constable to get the vehicle ready to leave and on official duty.

Superintendent of police M. R. Sibi Chakkaravarthi called the tiruvallur district collector E. Sundaravalli I.A.S.

I have to stop at this point and tell you about the differences and how IAS and IPS officers function outside a deemed metropolitan city like Mumbai, chennai, kolkata etc.

In a city like chennai, the police commissioner post is occupied by a top ranking Additional Director-General of Police like A.K. Viswanathan who handles the law and order and crime branches and reports directly to the DGP who right now is Dr. C. Sylendra Babu IPS.

The city collector an IAS officer reports directly to the chief secretary of chennai who reports directly to the chief minister. The city of chennai has four collectors and their tasks are mostly of administrative and when compared to the police commissioner is a much lesser one.

But leave chennai and enter the districts and the roles are reversed and an IAS officer gets three titles.

Since District Collectors are senior most executive magistrate in the district, the post is also referred to as the District Magistrate and as the office-bearer works under the supervision of a Divisional Commissioner, the post is also known as Deputy Commissioner.

Simply put, nothing happens without the permission of a district collector and that goes for all depts, police included and since collector E. Sundaravalli was his immediate boss and higher authority in the chain of command,Superintendent of police M. R. Sibi Chakkaravarthi made the call and informed her of the crime.

E. Sundaravalli I.A.S was his superior and one he reported to but she also happened to be his close friend and both had studied in chennai in the same school, chettinad vidyashram and both had passed their 2007 civil service exams conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment to various Civil Services of the Government of India, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) among others.

But he had gone the way of police and she had gone in the way of becoming a collector and often when both got together they bitched about their jobs and their govt and the way it was being run. Both their families were very close and their children were studying together in the same Kodai international school.

But more than anything,Sibi Chakkaravarthi had immense respect for his childhood friend Sundaravalli who he chellama called ' sundal' for she was quite roly, poly and loved sundal laced with grated mango.

Sundal answered her official lan line ' district collector E. Sundaravalli' and was pleasantly surprised and replied ' hey sibi, enna machaan,at this late hour and that too on my lan line.'

Superintendent of police M. R. Sibi Chakkaravarthi 'official matter sundal or more like an official problem, serious and pretty major.'

District collector E. Sundaravalli whistled softly ' che,and here i was planning todrive down to kodai to see my son and your daughter tomorrow.Anyway, enna problem, any protest or unauthorised march by the DMK or congress.'

' No,more serious than that.I was just informed that several dead bodies have been found and one of them might be a high ranking party member and that too from the ruling party.'

Sundaravalli ' ada kadavule, forget the week,i think our entire month is gone.Sibi, what else have you learnt of the case?'

SP sibi replied ' i am just leaving now to go to the scene and i will call you the moment i get some new information.Sorry that i disturbed your night and your plans for tomorrow. But you know the saying ' no rest for the weary and the wicked.'

District collector E. Sundaravalli ' oh god,now i have to call the chief secretary. Thanks sibi,i will see you there after the protocols.God,i hope it is just some small time party functionary and not related to someone higher up in the food chain.'

In situations like these, a district collector would normally be calling a divisional commissioner.

A divisional Commissioner is in charge of Regional Administration and is one of the most important among the Regional Officers. The Divisional Commissioner represents the State Government in his region. The institution of Divisional Commissioners exists in all the States except Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Rajasthan.

Origin of Office of District Collector

This institution dates back to the year 1829, when the Government of Lord William Bentick appointed Commissioners of Revenue to supervise the work of collectors, judge-magistrates and district magistrates. Although most of the States today have Divisional Commissioners, this office has had a chequered history. In a number of States it has seen a succession of abolitions and revivals, reductions in powers and reinstatements. Madhya Pradesh (in 1948) and (old) Bombay (in 1950) had abolished Divisional Commissionerships but revived them in 1956 and 1958 respectively.

The Divisional Commissionership came under a cloud immediately after Independence. It was called a costly and unnecessary link between the district and the State Government. An Enquiry Committee which was set up to look into this institution found little use of the post. A couple of years earlier, the Rowlands Committee (Bengal Administration Enquiry Committee) also favoured the abolition of the post of the Divisional Commissioner.

The utility of this institution has, however, been gradually realised and today, most serious administrators appear to be unanimous that there is a need for Divisional Commissioners.

Role of Divisional Commissioner

The Divisional Commisioner performs a variety of roles in regional administration. Today, District Collectors are quite junior officers, needing the guidance and supervision of a seasoned administrator like the Divisional Commissioner. During the British period a member of the ICS was normally appointed a Collector of the district in his twelfth year. Today a member of the Indian Administrative Services becomes a District Collector after putting in only 5 or 6 years of service. With his insufficient administrative experience, a District Collector of today necessarily needs guidance. The Divisional Commissioners, therefore, are a necessary part of the governmental machinery.

I have taken the liberty of adding some details of how our state govt's machinery works and hence the rather heavy stress on chain of command.i hope these sort of information helps you to enjoy my stories better than make it cumbersome.

As i gather, sift and take the information that i need for our stories,i am constantly surprised as to how much of the old British raj still remains in our nations's governing process.

I wish you all a great day and a peaceful week ahead.

"We worried for decades about WMDs Weapons of Mass Destruction. Now it is time to worry about a new kind of WMDs Weapons of Mass Disruption. John Mariotti

9/11,2001

It was perhaps the most defining moment of recent history, the type of event that most people will witness only once in a lifetime. Ask anyone over the age of 30, and they'll be able to tell you exactly where they were on 11 September 2001, when a series of coordinated attacks using hijacked planes killed almost 3,000 people, the deadliest act of terrorism in US history.

The attacks and just as importantly, the response to them would go on to transform US foreign policy, and the millions of people affected by that. It would also call into question all the values the superpower had claimed to represent.

17 years ago, the United States wasn't officially engaged in any wars. Few of had ever heard of al-Qaeda or Osama bin Laden, and ISIS didn't even exist.

The United states deported half the number of people that they do today. And perhaps hardest to believe no one took off their shoes to go through airport security.

America's involvement in the War on Terror prompted by the 9/11 terrorist attacks -- resulted in a dramatic change in the nation's attitudes and concerns about safety, vigilance and privacy.

In post-9/11 America, all of us have come to view an increasing number of threats through the lens of war, from counter terrorism to cyber attacks. As a result, the country has brought more and more spheres of US government activity into the ambit of the law of war, with its greater tolerance for coercion, secrecy and lethal force. Before 9/11, targeted killings, indefinite detention and government surveillance of communications would have been considered shocking and illegal. But in this new era of boundless war, almost anything goes.

On the one hand, Americans are immeasurably safer as a result of massive investments and improvements in intelligence collection and sharing, billions spent on homeland security measures, and offensive actions military, financial, cyber, and other taken against terrorist networks. As a result, the chance of a 9/11 repeat in America is vastly smaller than ever before.

On the other hand, America's fear of terrorism is perhaps greater than ever. Fully three-quarters of Americans rank international terrorism as the most critical threat to US security. And large majorities view Islamic fundamentalism as a critical threat levels that are on a par with views in 2002.

Today, America is safer and more fearful than at any time since 9/11.

The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is a cabinet department of the United States federal government with responsibilities in public security, roughly comparable to the interior or home ministries of other countries. Its stated missions involve anti-terrorism, border security, immigration and customs, cyber security, and disaster prevention and management. It was created in response to the September 11 attacks and is the youngest U.S. cabinet department.

In fiscal year 2017, it was allocated a net discretionary budget of $40.6 billion. With more than 240,000 employees,DHS is the third largest Cabinet department, after the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs. Homeland security policy is coordinated at the White House by the Homeland Security Council.

So,here we are back with Rudran and his quest for redemption in New york as he seeks to recover the paintings that depict his ancestors,Azhagan and others as they had lived and fought in the 13th century.

But unknown to Rudran, the might of the American cyber war division and intelligence depts began to investigate and monitor his movements although he had done nothing to have welcomed it.The reason,Rudran came into their view was because two missiles were fired at the jet he and renuka were flying in along with Queen Malar and her children Arul and jothi.

But the attack was thwarted by an unknown intelligence and this is where Young and brilliant Malcolm chambers stepped into the picture and alerted the intelligence dept to the presence of unknown and possible alien presence.

Malcolm chambers had been monitoring and following a series of strange noises that were not on the normal human frequency and not even close to the frequencies that other species on earth used to communicate with each other and was on a very rare and odd one that others like him had never thought to search in previously.

Given time, space and room and the equipment,Malcolm chambers a certified genius and Autistic took center stage and showed everyone, importantly the president himself what or who he thought were the aliens who had protected General Rudran and the plane he was flying in from a missile attack launched from a previously thought of deserted and uninhabited area of Afghanistan.

The president impressed with malcolm chambers signs an executive order that allows the formation of a new intelligence team that would be led by malcolm himself and would report to the oval office directly.

As expected, other depts like FBI,CIA,DHS( DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY) thought that the president had gone mad finally for having given free access and immense powers to a differently abled and autistic man.

But Malcolm chambers had been waiting for this moment and now that it had arrived, nothing was going to stop him,not the president, not the other agencies and surely not a general from india.

But little did he know who Rudran was or where he had vanished to after their jet had landed in London,England.

Malcolm chambers knew that it was just a matter of time before he picked up the trail of rudran and monitor him as bait and see who was hunting him and who in turn was protecting him and why they were protecting him.

But all that had to wait for it was time now to set up a place and equip it with all the stuff he and his team would be needing to do their job that had been given to him by the President himself.

Malcolm chambers knew that the president liked quick results and good results and he aimed to do just that and went about getting his place rigged up with all the computers and monitors he needed.

Using the presidents decree,he had a direct pipeline to all the information that depts like NSA,CIA,FBI,DHS and other covert agencies were gathering from all around the world and then he went one, maybe several steps ahead and began to lay the plans for cyber warfare against all countries that were against the United states of America.

He welcomed his team of five members that was six including him and waved his hands all around the room and began to speak to them.

' I am not going to waste your time by talking about basics and other cliched stuff and instead i will start with just one request and also a warning.Nothing goes out without my knowledge and that means nothing.I have set up this place in such a way that we have super encrypted connections to all the agencies from our country and through them we are also connected to out allies such as germany, france, england, canada and australia.'

He closed his eyes and opened them after a few seconds looked down, sideways and up but not directly into the others eyes which was one of the traits that result from Autism and that is not able to process relationships and their complicated emotions and senses.

' All over the world, intelligence gathering agencies watch their monitors and listen to their speakers for suspicious looking men and suspicious sounding words.Every intelligence agency is geared to react when people talk about stuff such as Bombs,Jihad,Terrorism,Nuclear weapons, biological weapons and so all calls made in the gulf regions are monitored by us along with our allies and with Israel who i think are one step ahead of everyone else in their regions.'

Malcolm chambers looked at his team of five and addressed each of them by their first names ' John, kenneth,Matt, steve and Dave, we six are now capable of not only gathering vital information for the security of our country but we stand on the threshold of launching a cyber attack on our enemies.Together, the six of us can make america great again and also stop terrorists attacking us like they did in 2001.'

He looked at john ' john, you and me will listen and monitor the sounds and conversations that we snoop on while kenneth and matt will monitor the video signals that we gather from all around our nation and the world.Steve and dave will handle the info flow that comes and goes out of this place and also will work on a new cyber attack software and all of this will be done quietly and reported to me and no one else and i in turn will report to the president directly.'

Suddenly his voice changed and took on a rather scary and threatening note ' i repeat myself again that i will not brook any insubordination from anyone and i will have them removed from this place immediately and will also recommend an investigation into them and their families. So,no photos,no videos and please none of them in face book, twitter or you tube.I mean it seriously and i don't want any of you posting your pics in the workplace or outside this building on any social platform.'

He smiled ' welcome and let us all get to work.'

He turned to Kenneth and Matt and asked them to look into the screen and clicked the remote and the large screen filled up with the handsome face of Rudran and he spoke ' we last saw this man in london yesterday and i need to find him immediately for he is of very vital importance to our project Shadow.'

All five looked at him and all of them felt the word on their lips ' project shadow' and it felt good and Malcolm chambers smiled if in fact it was a smile ' yes,we are called project shadow for we will remain invisible and we will fight back from the shadows.'

It was 10.30 am in New York and the object of their attraction that they were searching for in London lay fast asleep in a soft bed in a safe house that belonged to Mossad, the Israeli intelligence dept and just an hour away from their reach.

Azrail when literally translated means Angel of death and Rudran lay fast asleep for he would soon wake up and New york would not be the same again.

Welcome back to Redemption.

The boy who went into the dark and came back with light is now ready to walk the streets of America "the land of the free and the home of the brave"

Head constable Mohammed whispered softly to the constables ' The place looks like a stadium where a night cricket match is taking place' and the constables dumbly nodded as they watched their station inspector was respectfully explaining how it had all started earlier in the evening.

Superintendent of police M. R. Sibi Chakkaravarthi and District collector Sundaravalli both listened carefully to Kumaravel and then themselves looked at all the bodies that lay inside the circle where the forensic team was collecting evidence under the glare of the lights.

From the main road, passerbys stopped and wondered if any film shooting was going on but did not dare to venture even one step into th mangrove for dozens of armed policemen stood guards and not one had a smile or even a hint of it on their faces.

SP Sibi with a hint of smile that was absent on the others present inside and outside, looked at the collector ' Ma'am,how do you want us to proceed now?'

District collector Sundaravalli did not have a smile on her lips but it did twinkle a bit in her eyes ' We first start by identifying the dead bodies before i make the call to the chief secretary. So that step is important and i guess it shouldnt be very difficult for the dead must be carrying some sort of Identifications. And trace the registrations of both the cars Mr.Chakkaravarthi' and SP Sibi saw the hint of s smile now on his friend sundal who also happened to be his boss.

The chief of the forensic team to them and spoke for a few minutes and Superintendent of police M. R. Sibi Chakkaravarthi's face now took on a frown and a worried look.'

He looked at the collector ' ma'am,the situation is now a bit more complicated. The man who one of the constables identified as belonging to the party seems to have died first and surprisingly his wallet and phone were in the pocket of another man along with a few rings and gold chain.'

collector Sundaravalli absorbed the information ' so,was he murdered by the others and did he defend and kill the others before he himself succumbed to his injuries. But that is not possible for he died first. Then did the others fight among themselves and kill each other.'

She looked at Sibi ' Sp sir,i think it would be best if we call in our local AIADMK councillor and ask him to help us in identifying the dead' and Sibi nodded ' good idea' and then the chief forensic man came up and informed them that all of them had the late party chief 'AMMA's' face and name Tatooed on thier chests and right forearms and that only one man had the face of MGR tatooed on his chest along with AMMA.

It took twenty minutes for the local party councillor to arrive at the crime scene and he took one look at the body of periya karuppan and froze in shock and with eyes wide open looked at both the IPS and IAS officers ' OMG! This man belongs to minister sir's inner circle.'

Collector Sundaravalli felt the tremors in her feet beginning to rise up into her heart and she asked the councillor ' velan sir, please, can you tell us which minister are you talking about?'

Local Councillor velan looked really nervous and scared and he looked at Superintendent of police M. R. Sibi Chakkaravarthi ' Sp sir, unga boss.Home Minister vaidyanathan. This dead man's name is periya karuppan and he was the right and left hand of the minister and i think the others too work for periya karuppan.'

Councillor velan dropped his voice ' i will tell you both just one thing and that is even when Amma was still alive, most of the party feared Minister Vaidyanathan more than our late leader herself.'

IPS looked at IAS and both exchanged glances in their eyes ' looks like we will be both spending a lot of time in chennai and maybe there is a good chance of both us being transferred pretty soon.

District collector Sundaravalli lifted her large mobile and dialing a number walked a little distance away from the others.

The phone in Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu Girija Vaidyanathan rang and now the story begins, really begins.

The law was made for one thing alone, for the exploitation of those who don't understand it.

Shaktivel and valliammai both apologised for their late arriaval and raman looked at his in-laws and jeeva ' I am sorry.Really sorry for it is my fault that we have come so late.I guess with the situation i am in,you will understand and forgive me.'

Kamakshi cheekily ' my god,so many sorrys and apologies.Ram,of course we understand and since we understand without even you having to explain it to us,there is no need at all for forgiveness.'

Raman looked at kamakshi ' amma, please don't tell me that you have studied law too for that was a pretty good argument and i tell you that your objection is sustained and goes into this house's record.'

Jeeva looked at him ' But defense counsel, that is you raman, the prosecution that is us,the ones who invited you for dinner at 8.30 pm and for which you have presented yourself at 10.30 pm still want to know the reason for the delay even though we hold no grudges, anger and importantly as my fellow counsel stated,no apologies are needed.'

Raman made a funny face and squinted his eyes in a real scary way that his mother always felt creepy and anxious and smiling ' Shabash, shabash, ithu allavo nalla kudumbam.'

Putting on a serious expression ' madam jeeva,i was held up with another troublesome case and the heavy traffic did not help either. But the real reason behind my late arrival is that i had to take a dying man's statement and testament to a very important case that will be soon coming up in the courts.I hope this satisfies the prosecution's curiosity.'

Jeeva ' it will do at least for now but i fear that the topic and accusation will be brought back at a later point in out house court sessions.'

Manigandan spoke ' ram, what happened today? you had an appointment with the minister? Did you meet him at all?'

Raman nodded ' yes sir.I met him and put my cards on the table. But sadly the situation has gotten a bit worse now with my client's direct involvement.'

Jeeva did not even realise it but she blurted ' bharat and kutty jeeva.Ram,they are safe right?'

Raman smiled ' safe and absolutely in no danger.Mr.Devarajan has put a three men security blanket around his house and they are working in two shifts.Expensive but absolutely necessary.'

Jeeva breathed a sigh and raman gently held her hand ' Jeeva,i promise that no harm will come to them.'

Shaktivel was confused and asked his son ' iyaa, what did you mean when you said that your client is now directly involved in the case?'

Raman looked at everybody ' Bharat along with kutty jeeva went to Vaidyanathan's house, who at that point was sitting across a table in a meeting with me and met his mother-in-law,Mallika vaidyanathan, who was absolutely thrilled to see her grand daughter and her son-in-law,both whom she loves very much.

Then, worried sick after seeing the stitches on Bharat's jaw enquired as to his health and how he had injured himself.'

Shaktivel and everyone else groaned and Raman ' what did you expect me to do? remain still and not move forward and hammer in my advantage.'

He looked at all the members of his family ' Even when dead, the fangs of a poisonous snake is lethal and fatal to us and how dangerous do you think it will be when alive, kicking and also attacking?'

Jeeva anxiously ' okay, okay.so what happened then?'

Raman ' bharat explained everything and Mallika vaidyanathan got up,packed her bags and is now currently residing in bharat's house and she has declared that she has had enough of her husband and his political and criminal activities.'

Kamakshi smiled with pride ' But all this was made possible by you and your brains.right advocate raman sir? so what do you plan to do next?'

Raman ' ma'am,i am just starting up and getting warmed up.I have a few more avenues to pursue before i can reveal what i have in store for our Home minister. But,now as of this moment,i am hungry and tired' and turning to jeeva ' and also would like a tight and deadly hug from my pondatti.'

Jeeva hugged him tightly with passion and then with the tenderness of a mother and whispered in his ear ' ram, careful da.'

Raman pushed her away in shock and disgust and everyone looked at both of them wondering what had happened and raman looked at manigandan ' sir, your daughter just called me Da' and Manigandan seriously ' Raman, what is so shocking about that when she calls her own dad, that is me,an old man, vaada poda.'

All of them laughed and shaktivel, poor man looked pretty scandalised but valli hinted with her eyes ' boss, her da's,vaada, poda are as pure as your addressing your son with Iyaa,vaanga,ponga.Love,shaktivel.In the end it is only love.'

Redemption 262

On a clear day, with the sun and no clouds above in the blue sky and the weather delightfully pleasant, try placing a blanket on grass under a tree and just lay yourself there and soak in the beauty of nature.I tell you that it is one of the most calming and precious gifts that you can gift yourself.People are so caught up with other people and others lives and lies that they hardly spend time out of their minds and just on their own.I think people have become very scared and insecure to be just on their own and with just nature as their companion.

Me,i take long walks with old tamil or hindi songs playing softly in my ears and i just lose myself as my feet take me far away from my home and my life.I miss my two wheeler very much for though today i do have a car the petrol prices are so damn high in India that a two wheeler sounds like a great idea to beat not only the petrol prices but to get away on my own, like i did so many times to goa,to kerala and all over south india just on my two wheeler,Yamaha RX 100.

New york,New york

Rudran was on the phone talking to renu when he heard the knock on his door and whispered to renu ' baby, can you just hold for a moment' and walking swiftly to the door, opened it and resumed the conversation.

Renu who was in london was squealing in ecstacy ' rudy, this hotel feels like it is much better than even the buckingham palace for it is just so rich, luxurious and comfortable.I really wish that you were here right now for i can think of many things that i can do to you on this bed.'

Rudran ' renu,i wonder what our son Nikhil feels about his dad and mum going on about their sex lives with so much passions and without any worry about him inside the womb.'

Renuka slyly ' i think he is going to be even better than you and he is going to break many hearts before he settles down with one woman.'

Then hurriedly ' who was that at the door?' and Rudran stared at Dr.Otto and showed his fingers, telling him, five minutes and replied ' just that old and irritating Israeli doctor .'

Otto Hauptmann glared at him and rudran blew a kiss in his direction and went on chatting with renu ' Well it is about 11.00 am and i am planning to walk the streets of new york and try to catch all the famous sights of this great city.'

Renu worriedly ' But rudy, what about the reason why you are there at this moment?' and rudran felt proud of his wife's intelligence for he had not yet told Dr.Otto as to the real reason why he was there and he also knew that all the phones were being tapped by Dr.Otto's mossad team and would be thoroughly analysed.'

Finally, after planting many kisses on the phone,he bade bye to renu and ending the call turned to Otto ' Yes,my good doctor and my good friend,How can i help you?'

Dr.otto ' old and irritating doctor and i suppose this is how you describe me to all your contacts.'

Rudran looked disappointed ' oh no,i forgot to add tragic, psychotic and obssessive along with brilliant and kind hearted.'

Otto shook his head ' rudy,my boss called earlier and wanted to know what i was doing in new york and that too helping you and he wanted to know why a passport had been made out for you,an Indian spy?'

Rudran gripped the old doctors shoulders that were still strongly muscled ' doc,you have known me for many years now and we both trust each other implicitly and i know that we care about each other more than probably our countries itself. So,trust me and be patient and i will tell you what is going on in a couple of days.'

Then,Otto handed him a letter and mouthed ' read it and burn it' and then continued casually' okay young man.Now tell me what you are going to do with your day for i have a lot of work and people to meet in the consulate.'

Rudran picked up a new york travel brochure and turning the pages, pointed to a huge rock ' My first stop is at central park for i am visiting Umpire rock.'

Otto blinked ' what rock?'and then repeated the words ' umpire rock, well that does sound a bit weird and something only you can think of?'

Rudran handed the brochure and strolled into the bathroom and shut the door and Dr.otto yelled ' do you want a car to take you around rudy? and rudran yelled back from under the shower ' no thank you doctor,i will manage on my own and i will see you back here later in the evening.'

The door separated them and yet both their minds thought the same thing ' hopefully nothing eventful happens to spoil this calm, beautiful day in new york.'

Rudran opened the letter and it read ' Rudy, our satellites picked up two missiles that were lauched in a remote part of afghanistan and while your jet was just overhead. But they seem to have self exploded after just a few seconds. Our satellite could not pick up anything more and in detail, but we are very sure that the us satellites saw everything. Please be on complete alert for someone is tracking you and your family's movements.I have increased the security cover around the hotel in london.'

Rudran was puzzled and wondered who could have launched missiles at their jet and tearing the letter into many tiny pieces, flushed it down the toilet.

Twenty minutes later,Rudran stepped out of the rather palatial safe house that the Israeli intelligence group Mossad maintained in upper westside,Manhattan, dressed casually in blue jeans, white tee and a soft brown leather jacket and with used sneakers comforting his feet.A small digital camera hung around his neck and his face was covered by black ray bans and on top of his head sat a Baseball call proclaiming New york yankees.

Not that anyone would dare try or even succeed but he had wisely placed his wallet and passport in the inside of the leather jacket and which was zipped halfway up.

The jacket had been specially made and the inside of it was cream and could be worn inside out. Some of the pockets hid stuff like a beard,a thin moustache and if the situation demanded it,Rudran could become a totally different person and yet remain in the same place as he checked it out for signs and clues.

But he planned to use all them only when he reached Brighton beach, the home and working place of the Russian mafia and its leader Boris Vanya.

"You write so beautifully...the inside of your mind must be a terrible place- Akitir Nanrek

"You write so terribly...the inside of your mind must be even more of a terrible place-Satish

Anytime between 4.30 am to 7.30 am,one might pass me in and around my area in all sorts of motion.Walking, jogging, running, strolling and sometimes just floating. When the soles of my shoes scream " enough, time out, break, stop, rest" after their lovemaking and french kissing with the paved earth and their screams though silent are yet painful and they show up as burning blisters on my soles and stinging calluses on my left foot and i stop and sit for a while.

I sometimes see others walking and running past me and i wonder what they are running for or what they are running away from?

Writing and putting down words that describe the passing time through life is a big stress reliever and i wonder what i would have done if i had been illiterate, not knowing how to read or write.Maybe,i would have painted, sculpted or pottered around clay near a stream and that would have been that.

If writing is a form of expression,i wonder what them, those who tried expressing themselves by stenciling their hands in caves were thinking of.Hand stencils, cave paintings now go back and astonishing 40,000 years ago and the oldest ones have been discovered in Indonesia.

Imagine,40,000 years ago, some early ancestor of ours, just dressed in some skins, leaves or god knows what else stood in a cave and thought of leaving his hand prints on the wall with red clay and ochre that he must have found lying around.

I really wonder what he was thinking and i have a clue and inkling as to what he must have at least felt in his soul as he put a stick dipped in red clay and began to draw and then placing his hand on the wall, stenciled it.

Amazing isn't it.I confess that each time that i sit down and look at the notepad and began to think up and work up lines that the characters in my stories are going to say,i feel just like that ancestor felt 40,000 years ago.

But why do we write? honestly, why. My answers to the question is ' i feel good after writing.I feel lighter after sharing my thoughts through writing.I feel awake and reborn after writing.I feel accepted and recognised after writing.I release the many Anniyans our of my mind closet and breathe better.

I am of the opinion that more than speech, writing is a far better way to express and also share our thoughts.

Just imagine, everybody walking around with large I-pads and stop and type out their greetings and thoughts, rather than just shoot of with their mouths, that twisted and cunning lying mouth.

I am so grateful to this new and fast world of internet and for google and the other search engines for i learn so much just from a few lines of great thoughts and quotes flowing from great minds and thinkers.

The lion cannot protect himself from traps, and the fox cannot defend himself from wolves. One must therefore be a fox to recognize traps, and a lion to frighten wolves. Niccolo Machiavelli

Girija Vaidyanathan was appointed the Chief Secretary when Income Tax department had raided the houses and chamber of previous CS Mr. Rama Mohan Rao. Unlike Mr. Rao, Girija is widely regarded as an honest officer who gives very high values to work ethics. She is also seen as an officer who has never took any side in the power tussle between DMK and AIADMK. Her appointment was little bit shocking as neither OPS nor Sasikala was inclined for her. However, she was admired by late Jayalalitha for her performance, particularly the way she had implemented Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme, a pet project of Jayalalitha.

Girija was born in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. Her father name is S. Venkitaraman, who was the Governor of RBI for two years and considered as one of the most clear thinking economists that India has ever seen. Girija has always been a bright student throughout her career. After completing B. Sc. Honors in Physics, she took admission in IIT Madras from where she did Ph. D in Health Economics. It was her father who suggested her to go for Civil Services. She appeared in the exam in 1980 and cracked UPSC Civil Services with good rank. She got IAS with her home state as cadre.Ever since becoming an IAS, Girija has always remained in lime light for her good work. She is among very few officers in Tamil Nadu who are admired by both DMK and AIADMK politicians.

Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu,Girija Vaidyanathan was seated in front of her large rosewood table in her private den and she was a very worried lady for the TN Govt seemed to be taking one hit after another and the opposition were now ganging up together to oust the EPS and OPS led AIADMK Govt and they were gathering steam and allies.

The immediate problem was the 18 MLA disqualification case that had been hanging like a sword over the chief minister and his cabinet and now the supreme court had added a third judge to the case after a split verdict had been delivered.

If that was bad,the accusations by stalin, the opposition leader, that the state was being ruled by the governor and that the chief minister EPS was behaving like a slave was looming large on the near horizon.

And add to that,a case had been filed against BJP leader SVe Shekher for his derogatory statements against female journalists and his anticipatory bail plea had been rejected by the high court and yet he had not been arrested.

Girija Vaidyanathan wanted to scream her head of and that was because SVe Shekher was a close relation of hers and the opposition were now accusing that he had not yet been arrested because he was related to her which was totally false and the truth was that he was being protected not by her but because he was a one of the important state leaders of the BJP that was now the power in the center.

The lan line rang and she looked at the clock and it was 10.30 pm and she now instinctively that it was a going to herald more bad news and taking a deep breath, she composed herself and answered ' Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu,Girija Vaidyanathan here.'

Thiruvallur District collector Sundaravalli introduced herself ' Good evening ma'am.I am extremely sorry to call you at this late hour but the situation is complicated and i thought it would be better if i kept you informed of it.'

Girija Vaidyanathan looked at the large photo of her with the late chief minister J.Jayalalitha and replied ' the state has been neck deep in complications from the time of Amma's death and yet we have somehow managed to survive and come out alive and i have no doubts that we will face down this new complication too. So,what is the nature of the problem.'

Sundaravalli ' ma'am,i am in a crime scene near red hills where we have found seven men, of whom six are dead and one has been sent to the nearby hospital. One of them seems to be an important man of the home minister Vaidyanathan.'

Girija Vaidyanathan laughed slightly ' both of us have been blessed with the same surname and yet lie on the opposite ends of power and truth.Anyway, what is the name of this man you are talking about?'

' Periya karuppan ma'am' and the moment she heard the name,Girija vaidyanathan froze in panic for she knew the man pretty well and yes,he was an important associate of the minister who everyone knew was the real source of power in the ruling party and everyone deferred to him.

'Sundaravalli, this is explosive, highly explosive and there is a chance that old feuds will come tumbling out of the closet and many heads will roll and there is a very good chance that the govt might itself topple overnight. For,Minister vaidyanathan has control over the majority of the MLA's and will not hesitate to wield his power in a brutal fashion.Without Amma to control him i am sure he will now move against the chief minister and try to grab the post of Chief minister for himself. But,we are just IAS officers and just wheels and cogs in the administration and it is up to the chief minister to handle this.Keep me updated and i will call you back after talking to the CM.'

There is only so much control you can wield over information from leaking out for information is like water, air and will find the smallest cracks and wriggle out and escape into the outside world.

There were nearly 100 men and women around the crime scene in the mangrove in red hills and all it took was for one constable to mumble into his mobile ' machaan,i will talk to you later.Important casu and a very high ranking party member has been brutally hacked to death along with his men.His name is Periya karuppan.'

That's it,that is all it took and the digital pathways lit up like bonfire and in a matter of minutes,it spread like wildfire and it took just another few minutes for the tv channels and radio channels to pick up this news and they gave it many twists and now the headlines blazed in all tv channels.

' Important ruling party member hacked to death along with his family members and friends.'

Minister vaidyanathan stared at the giant 100 inch television and his lips curled in a snarl and then spread itself in a wicked smile.

' Bale raman,Bale. But this defeat is only a victory for me and now i will use it to become more powerful.'

He stood up and marched out of the house and as he entered the car,he called the chief minister whose house was just half a km away and the chief minister answered ' Palaniswamy, don't go to sleep for i am on my way and i need answers.'

Chief minister EPS shook his head for Chief secretary girija had just informed him about the killings in red hills and wondered sadly what kind of new hell the powerful vaidyanathan was bringing along.

He requested a call to be made and once it was connected, spoke to the Director General of Police (DGP) T.K.Rajendran and asked him to come and meet him immediately.

Redemption 263

"New York is an ugly city, a dirty city. Its climate is a scandal, its politics are used to frighten children, its traffic is madness, its competition is murderous. But there is one thing about it - once you have lived in New York and it has become your home, no place else is good enough. John Steinbeck, America and Americans and Selected Nonfiction

Rudran stepped out of the doors and was struck immediately by the silence of the street and that too at 11.15 am and looking around he realised the reason was the rather exclusive upper class jewish neighbourhood and he marvelled at the old and new buildings standing proudly side by side, old still boldly proclaiming their roots of the 19th and 20th century and the new ones screaming their 21st century strides into the future.

Rudran stood calmly looking up at the sky and wondering why it looked so blue and then touched the trees that looked they were dressed for some fashion parade in a riot of colorful leaves in many shades of greens, reds and yellows. He breathed in the fragrant air of pine, oak and maple and a famous quote of Rumi came to his lips 'Wherever you stand, be the soul of that place' and he whispered it and felt its meaning, the absolute truth behind it and began to walk the streets of Upper westside of manhattan and soon reached Columbus avenue and headed south of Central park for that is where Umpire rock was.

Turning left,he took the west 65th street transverse that ran through the park and connected eastside of manhattan to the westside and stopped at a Hot dog stall and seeing it his mouth watered and his tummy rumbled loudly.

It was manned by a latin couple and after waiting for a few minutes,he stepped up to the counter and the woman greeted him happily ' buenos dias' and Rudran smiled and stared at the spread of food before him and wondered what Renuka's reaction would have been if she had been there at that very moment.

' soon renu, and nikhil will be there with us as we walk in sunshine on the streets of new york' and looking at the woman smiled and said ' Hot dogs and everything on top ma'am.'

The latin woman whose name tag announced her name as maria began to prepare rudran's order and soon handed over a large tray with his hot dogs and diet coke and said 6 dollars and Rudran looked at the plate and remembered that the same order would have costed double or more back in delhi or chennai and the portions would have been tiny and pathetic and also wouldn't have tasted this good.

He fumbled with his jacket zippeer clumsily removed his rather bulky wallet which was crammed with 100 dollar notes and nearly dropped it and after searching among the notes found a ten dollar one and gave it to the latin woman maria and asked her to keep the change.

She whispered ' Gratias senhor' and with a worried look, warned him ' sir, please be careful.'

Rudran bowed to her and carrying the tray laden with what would be his breakfast and lunch walked into the southside of central park.

Even as he was walking away from the latin food stall,he heard some people whispering ' that guy must be really dumb to flash his cash around for he is just begging to be robbed.Surely, a tourist and soon a casualty of crime in new york.

Rudran's ears clearly picked up every word that was said and he smiled for he was not dumb but smiled more for the person who had said that had been right in one sense.

He entered central park and sat down at a quiet and secluded place and began to demolish the hot dog that had been garnished with mustard, fried onions, olives and chili and the lady had also placed a huge packet of coleslaw that was obviously free and rudran ran through the whole thing and downed the diet coke and burped loudly and immediately placed his fingers on his mouth and guiltily looked around and thankfully no one had heard his rather poor exhibition of manners.

The park was pretty crowded but since it was so huge, people were many tens of feet away and the majority of the people lay on the green grass basking in the pleasant sunlight.

Rudran used his camera and shot many pics of all the scenic places and finally came face to face with umpire rock and felt a tingle shoot up his spine from the ground beneath him.

Rudran knew most of the world history and geology by heart and had memorised so much information that it could literally fill a huge library and yet apart from the tingle, umpire rock stood like any other rock from ancient times.

He slowly began to walk around the rock and at the same time his brain showed him when umpire rock had been created.

He spotted a family of Indian tourists who were talking animatedly while at the same time gesturing at the rock in frustration and one of the women in the group suddenly spoke in tamil ' It is just a rock and nothing more,so lets move on and hit the zoo.'

Rudran who was standing behind her spoke in a loud voice ' Just rock ma'am but still a very interesting piece of rock, don't you think?'

The woman turned and glared at him and said ' Manasulla periya guide nenanppu.'

Rudran walked into them and turning to face the family of ten,all tamil brahmins from chennai ' Manikkanum.Naa periya guidellam onnu ille. But just a man who loves the history of this rock and this planet.'

The woman embarrassed quickly apologised but rudran ' no problem but i do want you to listen to a few minutes of what i am going to say about this piece of rock that is sticking out of the ground and then tell me if it is just rock or more.'

Casually,he climbed a few feet up and waved his hands around the whole piece of rock ' to begin with umpire rock gets its name simply because people standing on top of this piece of rock can view the nearby baseball field clearly and hence it is called umpire although it is also called as Rat rock.

This piece of rock and all that is beneath manhattan and new york was formed nearly 450 to 500 million years ago and it was formed in the bottom of the ocean and when ancient north american land mass collided with african land mass this bedrock was pushed up and rose out of the oceans.

But,about 2.5 millions years ago,a great ice sheet called the Laurentide ice sheet covered the whole of this continent and also canada. But about 18,000 years ago,the earth began to warm up again and the glacial sheet started to melt and retreat, leaving behind many massive boulders that you see all around this park and in many other states.'

He looked at the woman ' so ma'am,is it just rock or a piece of history that is nearly 450 million years old.'

The woman smiled and clapped her hands and soon the others joined in and rudran bent low and accepted their applause.

All of them asked him to join them for lunch but he politely refused, but promised that if they should meet up in chennai then he would hold them to the offer.

All of them shook his hands and introduced themselves and then they asked him who he was and which part of chennai he was from.

Rudran smiled and then said ' I am Rudran,Assistant commissioner of police, crime branch,New Delhi.'

He got the same reaction that he always got when he said he was a cop and soon he was left alone for people always stepped back in fear when they met a cop.

He watched the group slowly move away and then he smiled as his alien senses tingled and from deep inside,a voice whispered ' Rudy, careful now.The rats have smelt the cheese.'

Rudran looked at his expensive rolex watch and saw it was nearly 2.30 pm and decided that he would the time walking around before returning back to umpire rock and understand why the rock was calling out to him.

Central park was about 4 kms long and just about a km wide and so rudran began to walk towards the northern part of the park and decided that he would walk around the entire park and finally returning to umpire rock by evening for only in the darkness, rats and snakes came out to play their games.

He thought about this famous city and how its crime rate had been steadily dropping since the 90's and now the most violent city in america was detroit,Michigan with 300 or more murders. But that was nothing compared to the city of Fortaleza, brazil that had the highest number of murders which was 3,270 in 2017 followed by the cities of Durban and Cape town in south africa that topped 2,000 and more.

And then he heard the scream ' help, help' and shaking his head he turned to his right and saw a young black man grabbing a tourists handbag and striking a vicious blow to her head and run, importantly in his direction and Rudran moved and he moved towards the black man who seeing him drew reached inside and brought a knife that glinted in the setting sun.

Rudran sighed and thought ' and here i was planning on a quiet and productive night and trouble comes calling.'

The man slashed wildly and Rudran took a step back smoothly like a ballet dancer and let the right hand pass him and crouching down deliverd a left hook into the man's ribcage and heard the bones crack and that was it.

An elderly man came huffing and puffing and breathing heavily and froze seeing rudran standing there with the thief at his feet.

Rudran picked up the handbag and gave it to the gentleman who thanked him profusely and rudran went with him to check on his wife who had been assaulted by the thief.

As this was going on,one of the two men who had been following him from the hot dog stall reached for his mobile phone and spoke ' i think we need a few more for that tourist seems to be a tough one or a really lucky one.'

Unfortunately, there is nothing lucky about rudran who helped the old lady to his feet and escorted them up to the entrance and suddenly vanished in the growing darkness.

It was 6.00 pm and the sun had set and along with it darkness too set in and yet Rudran saw better in the night and as good as his eyes saw in the light.

The group of six latin hoodlums followed the tourist and Rodriguez, their boss and the most vicious of their gang whispered ' this guy is real loco. For he is walking into the most scary part of the park and into our territory.'

He told them what to do and they split into pairs and ran ahead of the tourist with a plan to close in on him in a circle.

Rodriguez whispered to Perez and both of them drew their guns out and looked in the direction of the lone tourist and looked again and again and found no one for the man had vanished into thin space.

Rodriguez softly cursed ' Mierda,Mierda( F..k)' and hurried with perez to the spot where the tourist had been standing just a few seconds ago.

That was the last thing they remembered for both their necks were suddenly held by hands that felt like steel and they lost consciousness.

Rudran stood up and in the darkness of the thick vegetation that covered central park,New york, his eyes glowing Green saw everything and every person that was around him in a two km radius.

He looked at the two men who lay unconscious on the grass and said ' sleep tight while i gather the others and bring them back here.'

He rose to his feet and moved ahead and just like Azrail Binyamin meant angel of death in jewish,Rudran in sanskrit meant the god of death and it also meant the end of everything.'
