Heroes turn singers!

Who's singing these days? Well, everyone. It looks like music composers are looking for more "raw voices" for their tunes.
While actors like Simbu and Dhanush are well-known for their singing skills as well, even Ilayathalapathy Vijay has sung a track for composer Harris Jayaraj in his upcoming Thuppaki. Here, we take a look at the latest 'singers' on the block.

The actor-producer also donned the role of a singer for the two of the tracks (Parvathy Parvathy… and Ananda Jaladosam…) in his latest release. Though he has been singing on and off, these two recent songs from the Boys combination of Siddharth and Thaman (music composer) have clicked big-time with audiences. "Thaman is a good friend and when he asked me to sing a couple of songs, I readily agreed," said Siddharth.

If you liked Kalasala…, then you better wait to listen to Poondhamallithaan… from this upcoming flick titled Thadaiyara Thaaka. It comes from the same team (L R Easwari and Thaman) that gave us the superhit fast number from Osthe but the surprise element is that the lead actor, Arun Vijay, has crooned a few lines in the song as well. "It just happened," he says, "I happened to be at Thaman's studio when we were recording and he made me sing a couple of lines and said he'll use the same version in the album as well!"

This is one of the latest additions of actors trying their hand at singing as well. Vimal was said to be crooning a song in his upcoming Masala Caf, but unfortunately, it looks like the actor might have to wait for a little while before making his singing debut. Says composer Vijay Ebenezer, "We did try Vimal out for a song. But unfortunately, we do not have the time to properly rehearse and record it. I'll be recording a professional singer for that song during my upcoming recording session in Mumbai."
