Nanban -- SS Music Review
Asku Laska ' It starts off innocently on a solo voice, accompanied by subtle chords with sustained strings, before gathering momentum and transcending into a dazzling atmosphere. Vijay Prakash's entry gives the immediate boost, as the song flows beautifully on its own dream run. His suave style accompanied by an equally competent Chinmayi's breezy singing is one of the major plus points. Not to forget, Suvi's rap lines also hold appeal. Writing lyrics in one language is not easy, yet here Madhan Karky experiments with 15-16 languages within the pallavi and also manages to give reason for it in the following lines. The renditions in the background throughout the song are very simple, yet with its unconventional method it gives an overall mysterious touch to this number.

En Frienda Pola ' This song is an instant attraction within its first few seconds. The use of the percussions and the strong humming immediately makes it a foot-tapping number even before the singers come into play. In this case, Krish and Susith Suresan are forced to match up to the volume of the background, and they do not disappoint. Both sing in unison and with power as if though sending an uncompromised message. Watch out for the profound phrases during the charanam and notice the careful placing of each word. That's the only time the singer purposely slows down and sends the lyrics during that phase into an ecstasy by itself. This one, with no doubt, is tailor-made for and celebrates friendship.

Endhan Kan Munnaley ' A male singer accompanied by the guitar is something not to be missed in Harris's albums. And no, this isn't a romantic number. The lyrics speak of dejection and sadness of having failed in something, yet still not wanting to give up. Aalap Raju's soft crooning gives the needed touch of desperation. In the background, there is the bass and the acoustics that carry majority of the song forward without having to place a separate instrument for the tempo. Plus, the use of the flute at positioned times blends fabulously with the acoustics and feel of the song.

Irukkaanna ' This is a Harris song, but with some interesting modifications. The starting is very creative that has the background singers singing with water stuck in their throats (as mentioned in the making videos). It immediately leaves one wondering what's in store. The combination of Javed Ali, Vijay Prakash, and Sunidhi Chauhan is definitely unusual. So it further generates curiosity about the flow of the song. The song does not promise to be great or anything. Yet the three singers shine together as they simply dance on the fun-filled lyrics. And with the catchy tune, this loud, foot-tapping number easily gets onto the audience.

Heartilay Battery ' The signature song of the album, which also carries the trademark line "All Iz Well." There isn't a large variety of instruments used.. The one lies heavily on the singers along with the percussion orchestra covering majority of the singing. Rarely does such a combination work, but in this case it leaves no stones unturned. The song may sound silly, but pay close attention to the lyrics and it's a different atmosphere. Hemachandra and Mukesh sing with full enthusiasm and that reflects throughout. The song definitely does match up to what one would have expected from it.

Nalla Nanban ' Just hearing the first few lines somehow manages to get the listener emotional. Whether it's the lyrics, the singer, the music, or the combination of all three, it sends that feeling of despair and sorrow. Ramakrishnan Murthy's soulful singing accompanied by the violin and sitar deserves applause. With each passing line, the anxiety and sadness build-up, as you find yourself having a heavy-heart by the end of it. The lyrics are thoughtful and something one can relate to in their own lives. Simply, it is another beautiful song that expresses the feelings of friendship.
