Suriya

Soon the hot and happening actor Suriya is going to visit your home! No, it is not a promo gimmick for his upcoming film Maatraan.

According to confirmed sources, the 7 Am Arivu star will be making his foray into telly with a spectacular game show which is to be aired from the auspicious festival day of Pongal.

And hold your breath! The actor has been paid a bomb by the private channel, which is buzzed to be as big as Rs1 crore per day of his call sheet.

It was also rumored that Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay would be roped in by the channel, but in a last-minute shuffle, Suriya was brought on board.

Local crorepati

Hey, did you hear that? Our South TV viewers in Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam are in for a rocking time. Star Network which has its local channels with the name Star Vijay in Tamil, Suvarna in Kannada, and Asianet in Malayalam separably are planning to do Carorepati in all he three local languages. One thing is for sure that Amithab Bachchan will not be anchoring. Who'll step into the shoes of Big B?

A lil' birdie has the answer: "Yenna maa.. we have superstars in the south too probably Surya, Kamal Hassan or Vijay might be doing the Tamil version, Mohanlal or Mamooty The Malayalam macho men might take up the Malayalam version, and Kannada Super star Puneet Raj Kumar or Sudeep might entertain the Kannada audience. If Koi Insaan Chota Nahi Hota was the motto of the last season of KBC Hindi Why not here too?. The prize money would be '1 crore. The channels are yet to finalise other proceedings.

Suriya on TV

Shankaran Malini

The game show "Kaun Banega Crorepati" (KBC) has seen five seasons already, with renowned stars Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan hosting it. The popular game show will have a Tamil version soon and the host is none other than Suriya! Confirming that Suriya is the host of the show, a source a close source to the actor, "He (Suriya) has been undergoing training sessions for the same at a popular studio in Vadapalani for a few days now. He'd shoot in the mornings and would rush off to shoot his film with K V Anand in the evenings."
Suriya, we understand, will be shooting for six days in a month for the Tamil version of the popular game show. "That way, it will not be clashing with his film schedules," adds the source.

'Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi' to be hosted by actor Suriya

The game show 'Who wants to be a millionaire' (or 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' as it's known in Hindi) is all set to draw in Tamil audiences now. Vijay TV and Big Synergy have joined hands to bring the international format to Tamil television, titled 'Neengalam Vellalam Oru Kodi' (translates to: Even you can win 1 crore) in February 2012.

The show 'Neengalam Vellalam Oru Kodi' on Vijay TV will be hosted by actor Suriya, in his debut on television. The mechanism to participate in the show will be announced on Vijay TV on 25 December.

The shooting of the season begins in January 2012 and the show is all set to launch in February 2012. The launch of Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi will be supported by a marketing campaign that will cover outdoor, print, radio and cinema across Tamil Nadu.

Talking about the show, Vijay TV general manager K Sriram said, "This is truly the first international format that would hit the Tamil television screens and we are very excited about it. We are proud that we have managed to rope in Suriya to host the show easily he is the biggest USP of this show. This programme would be the game changer not only for Vijay TV but also Tamil television. To strengthen the channel, we plan to launch two high decibel fiction shows around this programme. We have planned an extensive marketing plan which this market would have never seen before."
