Oh My Friend is an upcoming Telugu-language musical film written and directed by debutant Venu Sriram

Cast :

Siddharth Narayan
Shruti Haasan
Hansika Motwani
Navdeep

Siddharth Narayan plays the lead role, while actress Shruti Haasan replaced Amrita Rao as the heroine. Earlier Ye Maya Chesave fame Samantha Ruth Prabhu was planned as the female lead, but was later replaced by Amrita Rao, since a Hindi dubbed version is probable; and then recently finalized to Shruthi Haasan. Hansika Motwani has been roped in to play the second female lead. The film also had conducted photo shoots with actresses Amala Paul and Nithya Menen, with the latter suggesting that Siddharth wanted Shruti Haasan in the role.

The film score and soundtrack are composed by Kerala State Film Award winner Rahulraj, who makes his debut in Telugu cinema after an impressive 10 film stint in Malayalam cinema.

Several photo sessions held on January 17, 2011. The shooting commenced on February 21, 2011. The first audio teaser was released on August 6.

Music

All the music is composed, arranged and programmed by Rahulraj, except one song Sri Chaitanya which was composed by the late Anil R. The lyrics are written by Sirivennela Seetharama Sasthry and Krishna Chaitanya. The audio received overwhelming responses, and the song Maa Daddy Pockets became a rage among the youth immediately on release

Telugu film portal kothimeer.com qouted that " Certain albums come with a 'guaranteed success' tag and no doubt 'Oh My Friend' is one of them. All the songs are extremely easy on ears with smooth flowing affect and focuses more on melody, lyrics and vocals. Malayalam music director Rahul Raj rightly acquires the tag of hit machine in the music industry with this album. Songs are the treat for all those in love as well as for them who believe in true friendship. Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry and Krishna Chaitanya came together to frame the best lyrics that compliments the tunes composed by Rahul Raj."

Another famous telugu film portal 123telugu.com concluded by giving the verdict "The album of 'Oh my Friend' feels fresh and youthful. There are some terrific tracks in the album. Malayalam music director Rahul Raj makes an impressive Telugu debut with this movie. ".

The audio went on to mark record sales of 3 lakh CDs within 9 days of release. The cast and crew celebrated the Triple Platinum Disc celebrations on November 5th, 2011; six days prior to the film's release

It's the old million dollar question: can a boy and girl be just friends? Oh My Friend attempts to come up with an answer. Debutant director Venu Sriram has come out with a decent, entertaining, youthful film that is honest, refreshing, and true to life.

The contemporary theme and the crackling chemistry between the lead pair, Siddharth and Shruti Haasan [ Images ], are the big plus points of the film.

The film shows how the childhood friendship between Chandu (Siddharth) and Siri (Shruti Haasan) continues even when they grow up. It's all very platonic, pure and honest. They share every small thing in their lives. Siri calls him Faltoos, and Chandu calls her Killer.

Siri wants to help Chandu in his musical career (he plays the guitar) and promises his father that she will take care of him

Then Siri finds Uday (Navdeep) who works in the United States of America, through the internet, and falls in love with him. Chandu meets Ritu (Hansika Motwani [ Images ]), his old classmate, and is blown away by her beauty.

Venu Sriram, who has also written the script, seems to have taken references from many friendship-based films. The youth angle is central to the film and it abounds with youthful energy and exuberance.

Besides the script, the film works because of the performances of Siddharth and Shruti. They complement each other perfectly and both turn in good performances. Their pairing for the second time crackles on screen.

Navdeep is convincing as Uday. Hansika makes a pretty picture but her role deserved better etching. Tanikella Bharani plays Siddharth's father in his characteristic mature style.

Rahul Raj's music has a fresh appeal and Vijay Chakravarthy's camera work is in sync with the youthful tone of the film. Oh My Friend is a feel-good entertainer with its youthful theme.

I really want to watch this movie ⭐️ Siddhu's movies are really good ... and of course, Shruti is quite a nice actress 😃
but one question, is this like some sort of remake of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na ?
I've been reading some reviews, and the story seems to have some connections
even in the rediff review above, they stated that Siddharth and Shruti's characters in the movie call each other Faltoos and Killer
while in JTYJN, Jai and Aditi refer to each other as Rats and Meow
just curious 😆

It's getting mixed bag reviews ... m cousins who've seen this say that it's a nice cute film ... and yes very much like JTYJN !!! Now I'm waiting to see it when it comes online !!!

While some reviews say it's nice and fun some say it lacks power in script !!! For me I'd watch it for Siddharth anyways !!
