Sasural Genda Phool simmers down
It's time for a change of guard. So say the ratings.
After leading in the 7.30 pm slot for more than a year, feel-good family drama Sasural Genda Phool has lost its leadership to another sasural show, Sasural Simar Ka.
While the popularity of the former dropped gradually in the last couple of months, the latter, which was launched in March didn't have a spectacular beginning, picked up pace in the last couple of weeks.
The show's saviour is Avika Gor, who won so many hearts as Anandi in Balika Vadhu. In Sasural Simar Ka Avika started as the protagonist's younger sister Roli. But the sudden twist in the tale made her the lead since, instead of Simar, Roli got married off to the show's hero Prem. Ever since the marriage happened, ratings shot up and Sasural Simar Ka marched ahead of Sasural Genda Phool.
In an attempt to salvage operations, a new love story has been introduced in Sasural Genda Phool between Suhana's sister Sanjana and Deepak.
Interestingly, Chhoti Bahu, which made the 7.30 slot rock for almost a year before Sasural Genda Phool halted its dream run, is languishing at the bottom of the ladder in its second season.
