I had been wondering about the same thing since the day he left. Everyone took the whole incident as a pinch of salt. They didn't even bother to find out about Deepak or about his abrupt departure. I understand RB is just not bothered but I thought the others cared about the guy secretly.
Suhana's efforts of bringing a son close to his mother went down the drain; on top of that she was humiliated infront of the whole family. None stood up for her when she was the only one who actually stood up for the helpless Deepak. She didn't really get justice, in fact Ishaan and Dadi made fun of her bluntness.
I felt that this particular scene was not well scripted. The finer details were not looked over as they usually are. The plot was supposed to create a bridge between the RB and Deepak but instead it has had the opposite effect. So what was the point of this plot anyway?

I find it sad that no one was there to support him when RB slapped Suhana
