what i really hate is the "samaaj" thing. i mean i know for living in society one has to follow certain rules and norms but putting ones own happiness over samaj?? i could never agree to that.

But thappad is an extreme reaction IMHO.

And as for rules of samaj - this same Kumud was a girl with a strong and independent outlook once upon a time.

Well, there are a lot of times in India, where women suffer abuse but do not have an option of walking out. The setup they belong to is very conventional and they have no choice but to carry on.

We have to applaud their courage and their strength, but here the scenario is different.

Here she has the option of walking out, her family is supportive, she has a professional background, no children, Saras to love her - no reason at all to put up with pramaad nonsense.

Except her ego maybe. And the desire to be the winner at all costs, even if it means forcing pramaad to stay in a relationship which he doesn't want.
