I have some doubts.

ALAK

Why Alak is not wearing sindoor?
Why is she staying at her maike?
Why is she spared the inevitable feminine lessons of cooking and other household chores?
Why isn't she taught to regard her hubby patiparameshwar for spares no chance to snub him?
Why did BD marry her off to a nitwit hog?

BDs

Are the BDs unmindful of Pramad and Kalika's liaison, which must have been going on for quite some time?
Are the BDs unaware of the domestic violence, and Pramad's attempts on Kumud's life?

Why do the VCs hesitate to call up or call on Kumud (BDS)? Is there any social convention or restriction?

In the old times and still in the small villages, the in-laws don't like that their daughter-in-laws' families call them up or visit them often. They taunt the daughter-in-laws and insult them for that. So to spare the daughters from this misery parents are extremely cautious about calling or visiting their sasuraal! Since Vidyachatur & family belong to a small village with certain restrictions, they follow the same rules.

And the Dharmadhikaris are well educated and forward so they don't have any restrictions on their daughter.

As to why they married their daughter to a dimbo and why don't they know about their son's affair with a maid.. Only the God, in this case the Writers, can answer these questions my dear!

Alak is one exception , she can do anything to her husband infront of her entire family cause she is their daughter but Kumud can't as she s their daughter-in-law ! Weird :/ Also vc and DB are acting really dumb for not calling Kumud , thats so lame ! :/
