I donn know what to write ...this is the first time iam writing here...😊
I was thinking why SC is keep on thinking that he cant maintain relationships.
I feel he is the most sincere interms of holding all his relationships so far we have seen.
With his mother...his mother left him when he was small kid. she in a way ditched him and died in front of his eyes...leaving him behind in this world with no one to care about.but he has no complaints.. he still feels his mother as the closest person whom he can share his feelings, his insecurities. he still holds on to her name as a priceless possession. his whole world revolves around his mother. her memories, her teachings, his promise to her. he did not forget a single word uttered by her. he has very much kept his relationship with his mother alive!!
With his dad... though he doesn't share any closeness with his dad , he respects him and never left him inspite of being neglected. saras never developed any grudge on his dad for choosing Guman over him. even if it is for the promise he has made to his mother...he still lives with his dad and obeys everything his dad says.. mainitaining a one way relationship for all these years...it is not easy...
his mai... this is very interesting... dukhba was initially detached with saras.. she was doubtful about him being grown up as guman's child. but saras...the moment he realised that it is she who had saved him on that day when his mother left him ,he has shown his love, effection, respect and gratitude for her. even though he was not in touch with her for all these years.he remembers it all and acknowledged everything she did for him.
with guman... he doesnt like her but still respects her as his father's wife. he maintains a peaceful relationship with her despite of her mean behaviour from his childhood days.
with sunny... it is hard to find a best friend these days...and it looks like they genuinely care for each other as best friends..a rarely found relation in these times..
I feel kumud has to make him understand that maintaining relationships is what he has been doing all his life and he is very much capable of being in a new relationship. it reminds me of some dialogue kumud says when he confesses to her that he is afraid of relationships ... insan he jo rishtey banate aur bigad the hai..phir rishtaon ko kue dosh dein... cant recollect it properly...

welcome! and very well written, the only relation where he has to submit himself to someone and then his life revolves around that person bothers him..not that he cannot handle relationship, but is worried if he will be able to give complete love to that person with whom he is going to share more than what he shares with others..with others he is not 24/7, he submits himself to darkness and loneliness when he is fighting his inner demons..and if he has someone in life, he does not want to share the inner darkness and make that person unhappy in a married life, that is why he runs away because he cannot give anyone pain!

welcome to the forum! I must say, you're a very lovely addition to our little family! 😳

Very well written piece as well! I think your appreciation of Saras' efforts to maintain relationships is very valid, because he actually does maintain a lot of relationships... even if they're one-way as you mentioned!

I also agree with Mandy, who added some lovely insight as well. Yes, Saras can maintain relationships, and you've pointed that out brilliantly also dear! But, because marriage is completely different than friendship and relationships with your parents, I also think Saras is hesitant because she's afraid he wouldn't be able to deliver on this intimiate of a level. (He's wrong by the way, I think he'd do great, personally! 😉)

Yes! Kumud's dialogue in the mandir when Saras said "tumhe (naa nahin ki)... iss rishte ko naa kaha maine" really is appropriate here! It shows just how much she understands him 😊
