Silent and Expressive love story

After a long hiatus, and several so-called conservative love stories, comes a love story, which is fresh and looks well suited to the plot.

Based on the original epic novel by a Gujarati novelist, the silver screen adaptation ofSaraswatichandra has a few modifications to suit the taste of the modern audience. However, despite the tweaks, the plot still retains its original flavor, making the theme, twists and turns seem genuine.

Hence, when the love duo Saraswatichandra meets Kumud Sundari, the background score, setting, and the story line hint at a world, which is replete with traditions, rich cultural heritage and loads of yesteryear's mindset. Despite all this, what makes the audience love this couple is their silent, yet expressive love.

Both the leading protagonists are strong and high self-esteemed individuals in their own, who love their families and go to any extent to stand for them.

Nonetheless, egotistical, both Saras and Kumud, feel for each other and can't help but extend their hands for help every now and then. If Saras wishes to help her family, clear the name in 'Gau hatya', then Kumud stands up to clear his name and a tarnished image by teaching him the art of making clay pots. Both struggle in balancing their strong feelings for each other, while at the same time maintaining distance and their sense of self.

Their strong dignified selves are what make the show worth watching. In spite of odds, and contradictory situations, both come to show each other respect, more than love and affection. This equation teaches a few aspects of a romantic liaison, which is trust and respect, the base of every eternal relation.

Although, played in modern times, the unique love equation of Saras and Kumud will go a long way, in teaching the young, more romantically inclined audience a few lessons on respect, trust and mutual understanding, before plunging in romance and beyond.
