I just finished watching the episode and I have to say I am quite impressed..Mind you this is just the beginning.. Its not an easy thing to transcend a classic novel written in 1800's into today's scenario , make it look authentic and contemporary at the same time. SLB sure knows this craft really well..Coming to todays episode, I didnt feel it was fast paced.. It was engaging and busy..not one dull moment..something that we dont see in Indian daily soaps where Kumud's introduction was no way gonna happen so soon. Good job team SC :)

Gumaan, the stepmother is thankfully not like the regular vamps with loud makeup and unnecessary caricatures.. Saras's father seemed like someone who obviously doesnt share an ideal father son relationship with Saras but he is nevertheless concerned about his son.. Not knowing why Saras has turned out to be the way he is..or maybe he choses to ignore. But being a father he feels marriage will help Saras get back on track..I liked his explanation of how Kumud and Saras are perfect for each other.. Not only will they compensate for the flaws the other person has but also bring out the best in each other. It was also interesting to notice that he is not exactly a henpecked husband who dances to the tunes of his pretty wife. He took the decision of his son's marriage on his own and announced it without consulting Gumaan which intrigued me.. Saras is calm, composed, cool on the exterior like ''chandra'' the moon..he's spiritual, principled, obedient and respectful.. been brought up as motherless child he is quite a loner.. The only time we got to see fire in his eyes was when he was addressed as Chandra.. His mothers name, her blessings and her teachings are all he has..something he will never detach himself from. It was interesting how he didn't protest when his father announced his marriage..how he didnt show his displeasure and disappointment when his father refused to take the prasad from him and asked him to change.. Like an obedient son he went back, changed to formal attire suited for the occassion and joined the party..And though he was shocked to hear his father announce his marriage, he kept quiet.

Cut 2 I absolutely loved the haveli scene.. Kumud's father talking in gujrati to his wife and expressing his happiness about the idea of his daughter getting a marriage proposal was very nicely done.. Secret is a secret that you tell everyone to keep a secret! :D Pretty much the case in their house.. loved the entire family :) I am now curious to know who is Dukhba and what is the incident that happened years ago. Saras's father and Kumud's father both mentioned it..

Cut3 Kumud's intro scene.. This is the scene that actually was vintage Sanjay Leela Bhansali.. Ambience, lighting, purple hue, soft music.. the whole scene where Kumud was sitting by the poolside drawing the eyes that spoke to her in her dreams, looked like a beautiful canvas painting.. The background music, Kumud stepping into the pond and then coming out of the water with the pearl in her hand, smiling, splashing water ...this is the scene that she had mentioned in the interview which Sanjay Bhansali directed himself.. No wonder it came out so good :)) The little conversation she has with her father is what builds the character of Kumud.. Her father holds the same place in her life as Saras's mother does in his life.. She is her father's pride..his darling daughter who can do anything.. If she is determined to find a small pearl from the pit of a deep , dark pond , she will get it..He says with pride :) Kumud, the only graduate from the village, who faught with the village priest to get internet in the village is just like her name... she's indeed fiery like the sun.. What will happen when chandra (oops! saraswatichandra) meets the sun? when ice meets fire? sparks are bound to fly...!!!! I am waiting... :)))

Great analysis, I totally agree with you on the step mother and father part. THANKFULLY this serial doesn't follow the normal - "let's make the evil stepmothers look creepy and evil! :) " and also the fact that the husband doesn't get dissolved in the wifes charms and looks. It seems extremely unique, in the sense that it has gotten many people (including myself) to think that Gumaan seems to have LUST for Saras...That made me feel sick,..the very idea of a step mother...On her child...Still a mother, so she is not excused whatesoever! Well, this is only the first episode, guess we'll find out her real reason behind why she REALLY doesn't want to get him married. (She won't have direct access to his wallet. if so?)
