"Betrayals during war are childlike compared with our betrayals during peace. New lovers are nervous and tender, but smash everything. For the heart is an organ of fire" Anthony Minghella, The English Patient (Screenplay).
At plot 63, Idgah colony, Bhopal, (aka BRIJA Bhoomi or the Love Nest), Brija lovers get their much awaited Brija Byte of the day (or even week)đł'
A morose, subdued and unsmiling Pooja (wearing her angoori anarkali) finally arrives at the love nest, much to the relief of a waiting BBP (reading the newspaper). Prince Lamba Achamba (BBP) has narrowly escaped (yet again) from the lair of a man-eater (Rangoli) who has a penchant for playing the Nutcracker, albeit in repulsively gritting shrill tones. Puja is distressed; she has come without telling Arti. BBP apologizes that she has had to lie to her sister. BBP offers her something to drink - he has finally stocked the pantry at the love nest. Morosely, Pooja refuses and keeps insisting that she needs to leave. BBP asks her to sit on the couch and sits down beside her. He says he has no right to hold her back, but he wants to be with her. He has had her father transferred to Bhopal so that they could stay together. He had even called her father to chat with him - Hrivansh was happy that Puja could finally pursue her ambition. Listening to this Puja gets skittish and uncomfortable and gets up to leave but BBP stops her by pulling at her hand.
Puja says she cannot rebel against her sister. BBP then tells Puja, he understands Arti's views - politics is a harsh world which resorts to using people and where relationships hold no value. But, he asks Puja, wasn't what they had different? Was there any political obligation to their relationship? BBP tells her that for the first time he has found a reason to live, he loves her and he cannot live without her. If she were to ever leave, he would have no choice but death - hearing this Puja covers his mouth with her hand. Immediately Brija become conscious of the physical contact âşď¸. When Puja removes her hand, BBP holds it and brings it back to his lips to plant a kiss. Puja snatches her hand back, gets up to leave and very stiffly says that she cannot live in this kind of a relationship (euphemism - out of wedlock).
BBP stands up, holds Puja's hand and begs her to forget everything and stay with him. He grabs her waist and pulls her into an embrace, kisses her forehead and tries to kiss her, Puja is hypnotized, but she quickly turns away. She tells BBP that she does not feel right about this. BBP immediately apologizes and says he does not know what came over him, but they should not stay at the house, they should leave. As he walks towards the door, Puja stops him and tells him that it was not just him; she too had been swayed and overcome by the emotion of the moment. BBP counters saying, no it was he who was at fault, he should never have come so close to her. As she turns to leave, BBP touches her shoulder and abruptly, like a bolt from the blue proposes marriage to Pooja in a tortured and tremulous voice (@ Bumtrinket- high five âď¸). Puja smiles at him, though she does not say anything except that they should leave.
As they near the door, from an open window, BBP spots Rangoli getting out of a car.đ˛ Rangoli's outfit looks nice (as usual) except for those shields festooning her ears (also as usual). She scowls, grits her teeth and looks around.
BBP quickly turns around and stalls a puzzled Puja. He then tries to confess - he starts to tell Puja that there is something about his past that she should know. But our Pachmarhi princess does not let us down - very gently she too stalls BBP's confessional and tells him that she has fallen in love with the BBP of the present, she does not want any explanations of his past. According to Arti didi's gyan-ke-nuskey, relationships were built on trust and she trusted him implicitly. She did not want to know anything from his past. BBP looks at her with a haunted and guilty expressionđ. Outside the house, Rangoli finishes sniffing around and leaves. Brija also leave; Puja was to first head to Bhavana's house from where BBP would organize a ride home for her.
In the meantime, at mammaji's house, Arti worries about Puja's absence. She finds out from mammiji that Puja has gone out. At first Arti is (sanctimoniously) sure that Puja has gone to break all ties with BBPđĄ. But as more time passes and Puja does not pick up her phone, Arti gets very worried - she prays that Puja does not do anything wrong (euphemism - jump into premarital sex). She then calls the senior Tiwaris in Pachmarhi and ask them to stop their transfer to Bhopal giving some lame ass excuse that they would not be able to adjust to Bhopal and all their support systems and community lay in Pachmarhi (who? H-Man and Billoo? You've gotta be kidding!). However, Harivansh and Sumitra are happy and grateful to BBP for organizing this such that Puja would now be able to pursue her singing career. Arti (snooper, snooper, party pooper) is having a silent aneurysm at the lack of control she is has on this turn of events, when mammiji knocks on the bedroom door asking to be let in. Arti cuts the call to her confused and worried parents.
At Daddaji's haveli, Rangoli returns from her mission un-accomplishedđ. She wonders if BBP has been pulling a fast one in Idgah colony - he was definitely at that locality but not at Bhavana's house. Breathing fire, she asks a servant to get her newspaper clippings of BBP from the last 6 months - whoa, he brings them to her in a few seconds!!. She looks through the clippings and during her own little media research, she realizes that Bhavana is missing from them but Puja occurs frequently. As she sits mulling over the data, Giridhar Bhai (our desi Iznogoud) chances upon his jiji's ruminations. At first he teases her for seeming devotion towards her husband. When Rangoli voices her anger and frustration about BBP possibly cheating on her, he starts smirking. The smirk becomes very self satisfied when she also voices her confusion and doubts about the "woh" being Bhavana.
Precap: Puja lets Arti know that the only way she would ever leave BBP is if she were dead. Giridhar is vigorously planting the seeds of doubt about Puja đ˛in Rangoli's mind..
If people are going to watch multiple reruns of this episode outside of the 9:20 pm TV slot in your parts of the world, I highly suggest that you watch them on Life OK's channel on youtube. They seem to be counting the number of "view hits".
