It had been raining heavily since the past two days. New York had never witnessed a storm so harsh in the past eight years since she had moved. The dreaded phone call had arrived last night and to her relief, the floodgates of heaven had closed.

"What Irony the cyclone in her heat affected her more than the rough weather! She had locked away the past in a corner of her soul but the memories were still powerful to create havoc within. She realized she had been drawing rough patterns on the window of her Audi, some habits never die she mused. Her driver was driving her to the airport usually she loved to drive but she had ended up drinking more than four glasses of wine to smoothen her frayed nerves. Her secretary had not only managed to secure a business class ticket to Delhi on the first flight flying out of the city but even a seat on the connecting flight to Varanasi, Suzy definitely deserved a raise. She reached the airport in record time thanked Mr Smith, loaded her luggage on the trolley and proceeded to complete the formalities of checking in. She glanced at her "I Am Watch" which she had gifted herself on her last birthday she would reach Benaras today evening.

She was on Autopilot and before it actually registered she was sitting on her window seat. The man next to her smiled, his co passenger was striking. Tall ,slim ,heart shaped lips with a hint of gloss making them all the more kissable, her honey brown hair cascaded down her back , so simply dressed in a blue jeans and black t yet she looked good enough to grace the cover of a fashion magazine. He tried flirting: usually she always enjoyed the 'Mating Rituals' but today she was not in the mood. She ran her fingers through her hair pulling them in a ponytail, making sure he glanced on the 9 carat diamond solitaire from Tiffany s. Set in a sparkling platinum halo of twelve small emeralds settling in soft curves, it adorned her well manicured finger. It still had the potential to make her heart skip a beat just like the man himself. She toyed with it wondering if she should keep it on.

More than the destination she was looking forward to the twelve hour flight so that she could sleep undisturbed, no phone calls no message beeps on her BB. It had been three years since she was working 6 days a week with no real vacation. This week was well deserved whatever the occasion. She had promised herself she would not mull over the past nor ponder over the future and take one day at a time. "The Quarter Mile "approach as she called it and it had worked wonders for her professionally.

The flight was uneventful she slept peacefully for a good eight hours while she spent the rest reading on her MAC. Both the flights were on time and she landed at Lal Bahadur Shastry Airport where a BMW 745 was waiting to take her to the Nadesar palace, she did not want to go back to the house where her family lived, she could not face everyone and start living intimately after 8 long years. She would meet everyone on the Ghats directly but before that she removed the ring and placed it in her hand bag. It would be in everyone s best interest for now.
