Vihaan - was a player. Most guys like him are. He was not in love with Rachna at the time of their engagement. While he should not have humiliated Rachna and her family like that, he was a spoilt brat whose ego was seriously injured because of the prank that Gunjan and Rachna played on him. Vihaan has not been shown to actually apologise to Rachna and her family and make any sort of amends and the lack of a gradual change of heart on his Vihaan's part is because the CVs are not giving his and Rachna story much screen time.
Mayank, on the other hand: The same way that Vihaan had Rachna's family go through an entire engagement only to break it off, the same way Mayank went ahead and got engaged to Charu publicly. Then he decides to end it {while I am not saying that Charu is a saint} and instead of being a man about it and tell his family the truth, he proceeds to "expose" Charu's true colours. He wanted Gunjan to elope with him. This showed that he did not care for Charu, Gunjan or his own family's reputation.
Anyway, his and Charu's engagement finally broke off {with the blame squarely on Gunjan} and the family once again was planning Mayank's second engagement, this time to Gunjan.
While I agree that Seema is Mayank's mother, he always knew her behaviour and never had any respect or care for his parents feelings. The only time I have seen mayank speak politely to his mother or care about her feelings is when he was accusing Gunjan of not liking his mother.
Apart from that, Mayank has jealously issues which we saw when Gunjan's friends came to visit and he was rude.
He even went so far as to publicly humiliate her on their engagement and actually had the gall to say that Charu was the better choice for him.
To date, we have seen Mayank blame Seema, Sangeeta, Charu and Gunjan for his marriage to Charu. He is yet to accept his part in any of this mess. Each day, depending on the situation he changes the person to blame. He needs to do alot of growing up before deciding to remarry.
And my personal opinion is that he should not look for a modern girl like Gunjan to be his wife but someone like the old Rachna, who is weak and timid and will trip over herself in her haste to obey his command.
