am visiting this forum after a long time. And let me confess I have not been watching the show for a while now. But reading your posts I kinda got a gist.
What surprises me after reading the posts.
1. No one blames Shail, WHY?
At Mayank-n-Charu's wedding when Charu was exposed and Mayank refused to continue the marriage. Shail who is like a mother figure to Gunjan --- asked her to marry Mayank? Why?
Was that not BAD ADVICE and some kinda COERCION? She did not ask Gunjan her opinion but took the decision unilaterally. She did not say let us have an engagement - she wanted them to marry? Really at Charu's father's expense? And without info Gunjan's dad?
Gunjan was forced to a corner and she did what she had to - to escape from getting married at that young age - don't forget Gunjan is underage or just about 18 years!!
2. Every one feels Charu's complaint of dowry is totally false. I think there is certainly a certain degree of merit to it.
If it were not for the dowry she was bringing Seema and Sangeeta would not have partnered with her in all the crime like stunts they pulled inorder to marry Mayank! Seema was even bringing buckets of water for Charu in order to obtain a diamond ring as pay off!!
Mayank, Dayal and Prabhu did not want dowry but SEEMA (Mayank's mother) and Sangeetha certainly wanted it!
Coming to her faking a burn, planting the sarees and money ---well she learnt to do all that and get her way from SEEMA AND SANGEETA (the 2 S's). So why blame her? The 2 S's encouraged to mix bhang with food stuff in order to weaken family members, they ganged up with Charu to pull down and discredit other members of the family so now Charu thinks this is how the Garg family operates and it is the only way to get them to do anything and everything!
3. Re: Mayank constantly pointing the finger at another.
I agree he needs to grow up and accept responsibility - but the elders in the Garg house are a poor role model!
The 2 S's keep pulling one stunt after another. Seema has not been "mothering" but "othering" him and cares two hoots about his happiness and future. To assuage her conscience from time to time she resorts to "s_mothering" him!! The other S - snageeter is only concocting ways to weaken Mayank and the Garg family while strengthening Charu.
I need not elaborate re: why Prabhu and Dayal too are not good role models -- given that they are such stuck ups and are unable to move with the times!
All in all, personally I am still confused re: the social message they are trying to convey.
--- Is it OK for the 2 S's to arrange a wedding based on the dowry they receive?
-- Is it OK to force two youngsters into marriage when just because a mandap and pandit are available?
-- Is it OK for Charu to indulge in low level crime as long as the 2 S's are partnering with her but suddenly it is inappropriate when they are not part of it?
-- Is it OK for elders to take advantage of their children's youth and perforce to stay married because the 2 S's are interested in the gifts (read dowry) they will continue to receive?
OK that' s it from me. If you think it is inappropriate for me to vent then please ignore this post!
