We are here again with yet another part of one of our favorite column and I hope yours too, Yeh Dil Maange More.
Are you ready to see the countdown for the day?
Here we go!! Today we have Director's Kut's flagship show on Star Plus, Sapna Babul KaBidaai at Number 3
Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai (Star Plus):
The plot tells us the story of two sisters Sadhna and Ragini who are completely different in their complexion, one being fair and the other being dark. Sadhna, not being the bloodline sister of Ragini, faces hatred and roughness from her aunty (Ragini's mother) and ends up marrying Aalekh (Angad Hasija), a mentally challenged guy, making a deal with her mother in law that her younger son Ranvir (Kinshuk Mahajan) would marry Ragini. Later the story sees a lot of twists and turns where Ragini and Ranvir fall in love, and after many hurdles end up in the eternal bond of marriage. The story unfolds with Alekh's recovery and later on the girls undergo various tests again based on their complexions, but surpass all of it. The story takes a major turn and leap after the tragic death of Sadhna and Ranvir which turns Alekh back to the old abnormal state of mind. The show proceeds where Ragini takes care of her's and Sadhna's daughters as a perfect mother married to Anmol (Apurva Agnihotri), a good friend of Ranvir. But the children also undergo the comparison on complexion from society. But they are also shown overcoming all their differences. Bidaai also ended on a happy note wherein everyone ends up being together.
Rajan Shahi's show reminded us of the super hit movie coming from Rajshri Productions' Vivaah, wherein the broader storyline was similar to the story of Bidaai. But Bidaai went on to become one of the widely watched shows on Indian Television, a show which gave a lift to the careers of almost all the actors part of the show, irrespective of whether they were new faces to the industry or veteran names who had already made a mark for themselves. What can we say for the fan following generated by the two lead pairs of the show, Sadhna-Alekh and Ragini-Ranveer? That is something you have to cherish by watching their remarkable love stories.. And what about the furor and outburst created by loyal viewers, when the channel decided to bump two of their main characters, Sadhna and Ranveer?
Well, if you ever thought that the show would simply drop in ratings post leap without the faces of Sadhna and Ranveer in it, the makers did prove you wrong!! The inclusion of Apurva Agnihotri and the plots introduced later did hold back the audience and that was surely evident in the ratings which remained consistent and indicated an upward swing even when the show closed.. (here comes some honest answer to those who talk nosensešāļøš³)
Bidaai made history, as it is the 'only' show that went off air even when it was in the Top 5 fiction shows across all GECs. And what's more, the last episode of Bidaai was a feast to watch and it raked in a huge TVR of 6.1 for the viewers!! Bidaai has to come back, with the same Jodis(just want to know which jodi they r talking aboutš..any guessš ...ok as they refer about the last episode's huge TRP then ..atleast I can think of only one jodiš³š) and of course with a new flavor and story line as it is a 'brand' in itself, that can never be forgotten. We just hope the channel and production house are hearing this!!
The show also gave television a production house like Director's Kut who believes in what they are making, a unit that has great production values, a team with which every actor would feel secure, comfortable and cozy..
That was this week's countdown where we saw Chhoti Bahu at Number 4 and Bidaai at Number 3.
Wow people, now it's just one more week to go for the Grand Finale. I know you guys must be eager to know which shows they are and you must have already started your guesses. But you never know what happens till the end because we are talking about an industry where everything changes in a snap of time. And here there is one long week!!!
But till then, you guys can sit back and relax with Christmas and New Year fast approaching. So go and get your shopping done and have funā¦
