This is what I was thinking, perhaps the suspense and lack of clarity is because he WILL be back. Unlike sadhna's track where we saw her die, we saw them mourning her death and her dead body being carried away to be lit above the fire, and more or less saw the cremation. Therefore with this ambiguity, there is still the likelihood that ranvir will return and reclaim his position in the family, while they made it very clear, thus unlikely that sadhna will ever return…
