Its very clearly shown that they walked their way up, because they want to prove that they are not afraid of taking pain.

The best part of visiting Vaishno Devi is the penance and difficulty that one faces walking that huge distance. There are lots of options available now to reach there, but usually young and middle aged Bhakts take the pain to walk up the mountain, just as a means to prove that they are not afraid of taking the hardship

Its not even in Jammu..from Jammu there are buses which take couple of hours to reach Katra...In Katra, army jawans and officers note down every detail of the visitor and give a "parchi" and then one can start your walk towards the top of the mountain...while climbing up , in the midpoint there is a place "arch kunwari", there is a temple there...then another half of the mountain...total, it takes now with a proper road at least 4-6 hours..then its said if one visits Vaishno Devi and does not visit "Bhairon nath "temple, then the darshan is incomplete...I myself could not walk again to the Bhairon nath temple....its very tiring...
but good point, the whole mountain way has water stalls and sitting benchesfrom the T-series of Gulshan Kumar...where one can sit down and rest a little..

The place looks very beautiful.
And after hearing what you say, I really feel like going there.
But what happens whenever we go to India during holidays is, we spend time with my parents and in-laws and hence cant get time to visit any place.
There are so many beautiful places in north, which we havent seen yet. I think we can fulfil this dream of ours only after we retire and settle down in India finally 😊

also, this visit requires some time in hand, because its a long journey . The original temple is very nice, before entering the temple, there is a provision to take a complte head bath. Arrangements are very nice there.

I do understand the time constraint. Same for all of us, how our vacation gets over in no time.

And imagine for us we have to travel from Bangalore....It is like from one end of India to another end 😊
