~Benjamin Franklin
Money seems to be a big issue in Bidaai from the start of the show. And today, yet another money deal was shown. However, this time something really important was said by Anand, which could be taken in a different light. He said " that these pieces of papers might not be important to you, but for many people, their life and heart is attached to these lifeless pieces of papers". This statement proves the importance of many for different people. The egoistic, the arrogant and selfish, and then finally the self-respected and selfless.
The egoistic will use the power of money to obtain what and whoever they want or to show how superior they are to others. Vasu is the egoistic in Bidaai, she has used the power of money multiple times, first to get Alekh and Sadhna married, secondly to divorce them and now again for revenge on the Sharma family. She believes that money makes her highly superior to anyone else, hence everyone should follow her rules. She doesn't understand the worth of money but simply uses and sees it as power and hieracy.
Then we have the arrogant and selfish, which are Avni, Naveen and Malti (old). These people think so highly of themselves and only take interest in what can benefit them, basically think money can buy happiness(material wise). They will put their loved ones aside, their relationships at the forefront and munipulate people to obtain what they want, which is MONEY. These people have created problems after problems only to get their hands on a good chunk of change. Again, we are currentlly seeing this with Avni and her munipulation of Vasu's head. Malti has also caught many people, including her own husband in traps to become RICH. Recently her giving into Avni to get a job and house for her and Vinu. She has finally learned the lesson that what makes happiness much happier is the people that are with you in that happiness. You won't ever be happy after making someone else unhappy.
Lastly we have the selfless and self-respected, I don't think I have to tell you who these people are in Bidaai, but nevertheless, Alekh, Ranveer and Mamaji and Inderjeet. They understand the value of the holy goddes Laxmi. They understand that money doesn't buy happiness, but only for survival. It only adds to happiness, but it isn't happiness itself. For Alekh, the accomplishment to make money and buy a home, was much larger then the grand house they lived in. His accomplishment on is own feet made him proud and self-respected. Mamaji also, even at such a difficult time, refused to take Naniji's home because of the respect and value of Naniji and her memories. Inderjeet also knows very well that the beautiful home, all the luxary in the world won't ever equal to the love for his sons. He felt at peace in Alekh and Ranveers home, but felt suffocated in his grand home with Vasu.
Thus, Bidaai teaches almost all aspects of what money can do to you if you have it and don't know how to enjoy it. Or you don't have it but know how to enjoy what you have.
P.S. I won't speak about Sadhna's past encounters with money because I don't want to open a can of worms. And I would appreciate if that is left out also, don't want to start a right or wrong type discussion here.
