Top 10 TV Stars (male) of 2008
1) Karan Singh Grover- This year too Dil Mil Gaye's Dr. Armaan's magic was full on all of his fans (even his marriage can't break the spell) so he is on the top position of our countdown.
2) Kapil Nirmal- This year Kunwar Yudhishthir of Raja Ki Aayegi Barat too impressed the viewers a lot. With his brilliant performance in the show he stole the hearts of thousands of his fans.
3) Harshad Chopra- After Left Right Left, Harshad Chopra first appeared in Sony Channel's serial Amber Dhara, then he left the show and came in front of us as Prem of Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil. With this show he again got successful in winning the hearts of his long list of fans.
4) Rajat Tokas ' After completing his role in Prithviraj Chauhan, this year Rajat Tokas did Dharam Veer. Initially the show did very well but soon lost its grip on the viewers. But still Rajat Tokas impressed his fans.
5) Anas Rashid ' This new Prithviraj Chauhan got lot of love and affection from the viewers. Soon he became every one's favorite.
6) Mohit Sehgal/ Arjun Bijlani ' Towards the end of this year, a new youth oriented serial- Miley Jab Hum Tum started on Star One. This serial was appreciated by the youngsters a lot. Mohit Sehgal and Arjun Bijlani, the two main leads of the show impressed number of people. Now there is a long list of their fans and there are full chances that in the coming year their popularity will increase more.
7) Vikrant Massey/ Aamir Ali ' With NDTV Imagine's Dharam Veer along with Rajat Tokas one more actor impressed the youngsters- Vikrant Massey. People really liked him in the serial.
This year Aamir Ali appeared in Channel 9X's show- Kya Dil Mein Hai. Though the serial didn't do well but Aamir Ali was appreciated in the serial.
8) Angad Hansija/ Kinshuk Mahajan- This year in Star Plus's serial Bidaai Angad Hansija and Kinshuk Mahajan made their entry in the show as the two male leads. They were immediately welcomed by the viewers.
9) Vivaan Bhaten/ Sharad Malhotra ' With his two serials- Mayka and Choona Hai Aasman, this year too Vivaan Bhaten got the attention of the viewers.
People also loved Sharad Malhotra in Banoo Main Teri Dulhann. The reincarnation episode boost the TRP of the show to some extent but towards the end of the show its popularity went on decreasing.
10) Avinash Mukherjee ' As little Anandi's husband in Balika Vadhu, this little star also impressed all of us with his brilliant performance in the show.
Top 10 TV Stars (female) of 2008
1) Avika Gor- This year this cute little star reached to every one's heart with her brilliant performance in Balika Vadhu. She left behind all the other bahus and betis and became every one's favorite. So she is on our top position.
2) Anjali Abrol- This year Raja Ki Aayegi Barat's Rani or Anjali Abrol too impressed us all very much. People loved her chemistry with the co star Kapil Nirmal.
3) Sara Khan/ Parul Chauhan- These two betis from Star Plus's serial Bidaai too got every one's love and attention.
4) Additi Gupta ' Additi Gupta or Heer of Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil too was liked a lot in the serial.
5) Shilpa Anand/ Sukriti Khandpal- This year Dil Mil Gaye got its new Dr. Ridhima. Among Shilpa Anand and Sukriti Khandpal who is better as Dr. Ridhima; it is still a question of debate. Both have their own fan following. So in our count down both share the same place.
6) Rati Pandey/ Sanya Irani- These two stars also impressed us all with their serial Miley Jab Hum Tum. Today they have a long list of their fans and in the coming year their popularity will increase much more for sure.
7) Mughda Chapekar- This year we saw Mughda Chapekar in her new serial Dharam Veer. Alas! By the end of the year the serial was put to an abrupt ending. But this beautiful star charmed all her fans with the show. Hope we'll see her in some new serial in the coming year.
8) Megha Gupta- In Rajshree's serial Main Teri Parchaiin Hoon, actress Megha Gupta impressed all of us with her good performance in the show.
9) Smriti Irani- This year Smriti Irani returned in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi proving that no one can portray the character of Tulsi better than her. But even her entry in the show couldn't prevent it from being pulled off from the air.
10) Rajsree Thakur/ Divyanka Tripathi- There are many fans of Saat Phere who still love to watch the show and admire its protagonist Rajshree Vaid.
First as Vidya and then as Divya, this favourite Dulhann of Zee's serial Banoo Main Teri Dulhann also grabbed the viewers' attention especially after her reincarnation in the serial.
In this list of top female TV stars of 2008, I will also mention one more name; though she is not A TV actor, but her popularity is much more than many TV actresses. She is Sa Re Ga Ma Pa's participant- Asma Mohd. Rafi, who with her cute smile and her very typical way of speaking Hindi stole every one's heart.
1) Bidaai (Star Plus) - In our top 10, Star Plus's Bidaai is on the No. 1 position. For the whole year this serial has entertained all of us a lot especially after the entry of Rajvansh family which put a new life in the serial as the serial got its two heroes- Aalekh and Ranbeer. Soon we got connected to the love stories of the main leads.
2) Balika Vadhu (Colors) ' This serial proved to be a real miracle. It was rejected by many main channels. Finally Colors agreed to telecast it and unexpectedly this serial reached to the top levels. Now all the other channels, who have rejected this serial must be regretting.
3) Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil (Star Plus) ' This serial started as a replacement to Ekta's long lasting love story- Kasauti Zindagi Ki. The serial was welcomed by the viewers as it was far better than Anuraag and Prerna's love story (Kasauti..)
4) Raja Ki Aayegi Barat (Star Plus) ' Initially the serial didn't get very good response as the storyline was not appearing very strong; more over it was having a direct competition with Zee TV's Banoo Main Teri Dulhann. But soon people started connecting to the love story of Rani and Kunwar Yudhishthir and this serial left Banoo Main Teri Dulhann far behind in TRP's.
5) Jai Sree Krishana (Colors) ' The bal leela of Lord Krishana in this serial was liked by all. Every one loved the Bal Gopal of this serial.
6) Banoo Main Teri Dulhann (Zee TV) ' with the protagonist's death and their reincarnation, the serial attracted the viewers in the first half of the year but soon it lost its charm. So it's on the 6th position in our ranking based on the whole year's performance.
7) Mayka (Zee TV)/ Hamari Devrani (Star Plus) - With one of the male protagonist's death and the torture of the vamps on the poor heroines, Zee TV's Mayka got successful in gaining the attention of a couple of viewers.
Another serial Hamari Devrani of Star Plus, which started in the afternoon slot, also impressed the viewers. The torture of all the five Jethanis on the poor heroine and her husband really glued the house wives to the show.
8) Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (Star Plus) - This year Smriti Irani returned in the serial as Tulsi but still Ekta can't save this show from being pulled off. Finally this serial came to an end in 2008. But even when the show was pulled off it was having a good TRP due to some loyal viewers of the show.
9) Ghar Ki Lakshami Betiyan (Zee TV) ' A few number of viewers also continued to watch this story of four betis, sorry five with the addition of the latest one.
10) Radha Ki Betiyan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi (NDTV Imagine) - From the start of the serial, it got good response from the viewers. As a result it was made a daily; earlier it was shown on every Mondays.
