I totally agree....and it's not just Sadi, practically every other female lead in every other Indian soap have the same bheegi-billi kinda personality....There are ways to show respect to your elders without resorting to grovelling....

Ditto. I think that's the only way Vasu will listen to what Sadhana has to say and treat her like a human being.

She's always crying and grovelling to a point where it doesn't even affect Vasu. She's gotten so used to it. Now it's high time Sadhana stands up and says something.

Yes, exactly! And it's reasonable to expect that Vasu, being a modern woman herself, would naturally have more respect for another woman who is capable of standing up for herself.....

It's a shame really....producers really need to start thinking in terms of reality and the kind of image they want to portray women as.....weak and dependent, or strong and independent....what kind of message will these meek female characters give out to the masses...

the thing is that these shows cater to mass audiences.....n a lot of people prefer this kinda characters as representatives of so-called values.....whereas the bold ones would be considered vampish women......

But the female characters in Bollywood movies are, for the most part, depicted as competent and confident, and the audiences seem to have swallowed that....Is it not possible for the same to happen in Television too?

well i guess that films take up a short span of time from people's attentions.....also they r believed to portray a larger than life situation....but daily soaps affect people on a daily basis....n r supposed to depict the truth bout the lives of ppl.....with a bit of drama n costumes thrown in....thats all i can say....i doubt if its sufficient to say this but....i guess thats how the creatives think....or maybe its just my view....dunno....

Yeah, I suppose films are quite a bit different to daily soaps..., but there are still a lot of situations portrayed in daily soaps that wouldn't at all happen in reality.....If the producers of these soap operas crave to showcase some sense of realism in their shows, I think it would be better to show characters that people can really relate to, flawed characters....The characters in these soaps now are all portrayed to be idealistic....What's particularly sad is that is that the creatives idea of the perfect female character is one who cries at all times, is super dependent upon her hubby and family to take care of her, and someone who will take all kinds of crap from people and not say a word....it's sick

I know wat you mean. There were some moments before as well where Sadi could give one "karara" answer to Vasu but kya kare hamari sidhisadi typical bahu sadi ji can't do that to her sasu ma. Sadi comeon girl, We all know you don't do any such thing out of respect to your MIL but for god's sake when there is plenty of thruth to tell, just speak it out instead of crying and begging. It''s irritating to see same everytime.
