13th August 08 Written Update - complete

Preparations are going on in the hall! Some Hijraa's come through the door, they start clapping and saying Congratulations for the happiness! Shubodh sees them and smiles, he walks over to Shanta, who is also smiling!

Hajraa: congratulations for being together, congratulations for your love! (she asks her group if they are ready, they say yes!)

The dhol is playing and the hajraa's are dancing, Shubodh is also dancing, Shanta signs him to stop! The Hajraa compliments their jodi again, Shubodh gives them some money! The hajraa continue dancing aorud Shanta and Shubodh! They then go towards Alka and Puttan, they compliment their jodi and ask for Shagun, Bua gives it to them! They go and continue dancing, meanwhile Puttan sends Alka somewhere!

Saagar is walking, while Ganga is walking with the plate of Aarti in her hands! They are walking towards each other, they stop and look at each other! They have a staring session, Ganga lowers her eyes and walks around Saagar! Saagar is left standing there, he looks down! His phone starts ringing, he answers it and walks off!! Meanwhile Bua is talking to Shanta!

Bua: there's so much work to do, I am getting worried!

Shanta: (reassures Bua) why are you getting worried! Come, everything will be done! (Alka smiles)

People are dancing! Bua sees Alka standing in a corner!!

Bua: (to Shanta) look at her! (she walks over to Alka) bahu, these lot complimented you and now your standing here watching them dance (she hits her on the back) have you forget? Let me remind you, this isn't your mother's home that you stand around! Do some work, why are you standing there! Listen, the Puja things are here, check if it's right or not! Go! (Alka starts walking, Bua goes after her and stops her) Listen! Listen to what I have to say fully! The women doing Mehndi (Shanta also sees this), see if their Shagun is ready, will my grandmother get it ready! Go! (Shanta sees this and starts shaking her head, Alka starts walking, Bua again stops her) don't walk fashionably like a queen (Shanta sees this and looks worried) Chi!! Look at me (she forces Alka's face to face her, Alka puts her hand on her cheek!) look, move your hand and feet quickly (she starts clapping her hands, Shanta sees this and looks disturbed!) Go! Bua: Ramji be kind, Ram Ram Ram, this widow (she points towards Ganga, Ganga who is going up the stairs, stops, her face looks so innocent, she just stares ahead, while Shanta is shocked!)

Bua is talking to Shanta, Ganga is standing near the stairs!

Bua: hai hai, Shanta what are you saying (Ganga hears this)! Now don't tell me that, that you will let this (Bua points at Ganga) widow be present in the wedding rituals (Ganga turns around, Shanta looks worried, Shubodh who is on the phone sees this, Puttan who is walking by notices this!) Do you know what you are saying, the engagement was okay, but the wedding rituals will start! Today is the Puja, (Alka feels uncomfortable, Shubdoh hangs up her phone!) then it will be the Mehndi! Look .. If on these auspicious occasions (she points at Ganga) a widow is in front of your eyes…. (Bua makes a face, Kaveri comes down the stairs, Puttan starts walking over to them as well) These are all outdated things, they are just blind faith! (Bua pulls another face)

Shanta: yes didi, he is absolutely right! (Bua and Puttan looks disturbed, Kaveri goes down the stairs and puts he hand on Ganga's shoulder) At these times these talks aren't good…. (She tries to put her hand on Bua's arm, Bua pushes it away)

Bua: at theses times, these things are talked about! (Shanta and Shubodh shocked) So that the auspicious doesn't turn into the inauspicious! Understood? (Shanta and Shubodh shocked)

Puttan: Maa is absolutely right! Bhole Shankar ki Kasam, at auspicious times (Saagar comes into the hall) we shouldn't let a widow's dark shadow fall!

Saagar: PUTTAN!!! (Everyone shocked; he starts walking over to them!) Who's shadow is dark and who's isn't, neither will you decide this neither your superstition! And Bua you, (he walks closer to her, Puttan moves out the way) you keep lynching Jhanvi again and again for being a widow, JHANVI ISN'T A WIDOW!! (Ganga shocked so is everyone else, Saagar realised what he said he lowers his eyes)

Bua: if Jhanvi isn't a widow, then do tell me what is she, a bride?? (Everyone is shocked)

Saagar: Jhanvi is an unbreakable/permanent member of this house and our lives! (Bua rolls her eyes) And me and Kaveri approve that if Jhanvi isn't present in this wedding, then this wedding will never happen!! (Everyone shocked)

Bua: Ramji be kind, what are you saying Saagar? And also, it doesn't make a diference what you and Kaveri think and don't think! (Saagar shocked) What will happen, will be the right thing (Shubodh looks worried)! Jhanvi is a widow and she cannot be present in this wedding! (Saagar clenches his fist and is getting angry, while everyone else is shocked at what Bua is saying) Sagar i am also a widow, and till today I have followed past traditions! (Saagar getting angrier, Puttan nods) Beta, society has some proceedings, some rules, Jhanvi will have to accept those proceedings and rules! (Everyone shocked)

Saagar: society? You mean these people, if these people object to Jhanvi being at the wedding then they can leave the wedding! (Bua shocked so is everyone inc. guest, Shubodh has a faint smile on his face)

Saagar is getting angrier, Ganga seems panicky, she looks at Kaveri and goes towards Saagar!

Ganga: Saagaar? Saagar what are you saying?

Saagar: (he turns around to Ganga) no Jhanvi! I cannot tolerate any more! (Bua and Puttan shocked) I cannot see anyone in this house verbally insult you! (He turns around to Bua) And Bua you, you are a guest in this house! (Everyone shocked)

Ganga: Saagar? Saagar look, I haven't been insulted in this house! Please… Please don't say anything else… Please??

He looks at Ganga and then at Bua then he walks off angry, Kaveri follows him! One of the hijraa goes up to her!

Hijraa: remember one thing I say! Our (hijraa) prayers don't go empty-handed! In front of everyone I give you the blessing that one day you will be a lucky woman, in all good men's heart you will rule! (bua pulls a face, the hijraa turns around and starts clapping her hands) HAI HAI HAI! You should be ashamed, you talk to an innocent girl with a filthy mouth, aren't you ashamed! (Ganga looks down) CHII, (she throws the money in her face) I don't want your money, to take Shagun (betoken) money from your hands is a sin!

Her and her friends/dancers leave, Puttan goes up to Bua

Bua: hai hai! This …. This much humiliation! I can't endure any more! And that Saagar, I considered him to be my son, in front of everyone he insulted me this much! I don't want to stay one more moment here! (Everyone shocked) Puttan come we will pack our bags, we will go to our village, (everyone shocked) with our own, where no one will insult us! (Everyone shocked, Bua starts going up the stairs and she mutters Come, Ramji be kind, what I have had to put up with, that's it!)

Puttan and Alka follow her! everyone is left shocked!

Saagar and Kaveri are in his room!

Kaveri: Saagar, Bua said all this because she believes in the old things! (Saagar angry) And you know that it is impossible for me to go ahead with this wedding without Jhanvi! (Saagar angry) And also, this could have been explained to Bua in another way! (Saagar's angry face shown) And her humiliation …. (She walks up to Saagar)

Saagar: (he faces her and starts shouting) humiliation? You can see just Bua's humiliation, (Kaveri shocked) and what about Jhanvi's humiliation (Kaveri shocked)! If anyone ever talked like this to Jhanvi I will not tolerate it Kaveri! (he is waving his finger in her face) And you are her sister, you stood there watching this fiasco! That girl has done so much for our wedding, (Kaveri lowers her eyes) and you, you stood there quietly tolerating her insult, you didn't say anything! You know that if is wasn't for Jhanvi then …… (he sees Ganga standing behind, Kaveri sees him looking ther, she turns around, shock sequence between Saagar and Ganga!)

PRECAP: it's a ceremony! Girls are singing, while Saagar is sitting there, Ganga is walking with a plate, Saagar sees her, Ganga trips on the rug, the plate of Ladoos go flying on the floor, Saagar gets up and catches her, his hand is against Ganga's! A guest goes that that was Shagun ki Mehndi it should have touched the bride's hand! Saagar and Ganga take apart their hands, Ganga looks at her hand, which has Mehndi on it! Bua says to her that this is the kind of inauspicious things we wanted to be safe from, now it is inauspisicious, Ganga has tears in her eyes!
