Q.: Your fisrt film 'Aami Aadu' received the best film award. How does it feel?
Ans.: It feels great! I am so happy I can't even express that in words.
Q.: How did you get this film?
Ans.: One of my friends works with an NGO with whom the director of the film Mr. Somnath Gupta had discussed the film. He suggested me and I sent some of my photographs and luckily I got selected.
Q.: What were your preparations for the film?
Ans.: I am not from a film background. I love acting. I had done small plays but to be honest when I got the lead character's role I was a little scared. I had done a work shop with the director Mr. Somnath Gupta who made me read the script, gave details of the character and also explained every little thing. Thereafter I was relieved. Before taking the shots Dada (Director) used to make us rehearse the scene so we didn't give many retakes.
Q.: What's the story of your film and what's your character in it?
Ans.: Aadu is a girl from a Hindu Brahmin family from a village of Bengal in India finds herself in love with a muslim boy called Suleiman. They manage to get married a midst of all reluctances from the families. Suleiman leaves for Iraq to earn for a better living. Aadu gets a tape recorder as a gift from her husband. On the eve of his departure Suleiman records the sound of their love making and takes the cassette with him. Then America-Iraq war begins then its shown how Aadu lives, fighting the most difficult time of her life. She decides to write to Bush, America's president who she considers 'The Almighty'. Then after seven months Jabbar one of Suleiman's friends comes back from Iraq. How Aadu struggles, lives and fights that time. That's what the movie is all about. I played Aadu the protagonist's role here.
Q.: Did you ever face the camera before this film?
Ans.: Absolutely no. I faced the camera for the first time and I am glad I had no difficulties and everything went smoothly.
Q.: Do you get Bollywood offers?
Ans.: 'Aami Aadu' apart from being a Bengali film has been dubbed in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. Whoever has watched the film has loved it. Yes, I have received a lot of offers from Bollywood. I have done a film called 'Chaar Deewane Aur Ek Deewani' that will be released soon. I am waiting for really good offers.
Q.: Do you dare to expose like Bipasha and Mallika?
Ans.: I am not ready to shed clothes on screen for the sake of making my identity in the industry. I want to carve a niche through my acting capabilities.
Q.: It's not safe for girls to work in movies. What do you have to say to this?
Ans.: I haven't had any issue in this regard so far. If you look at this, girls are not safe even on the roads but how to keep yourself is up to you. I refrain from any sort of compromise.
Q.: How do you foresee your future?
Ans.: I see my future as very promising. Going further from here I want to do a lot more work which will make me a fine actor in the industry.
