for me it really doesn't matter Hindu or Muslim.. may be she belongs from a modern Muslim family.. may be they are not conservative.. all Muslims are not conservative.. i have so many Muslim friends a'' of them are from modern family..

Ithink many hindus also uses the name Aliya.

For example : Ayesha is also a muslim name but i've many hindu friends named Ayesha. :S

Actually, DJ is hindu, which is evident from her bindi, dressing etc. And Aaliya and her family are muslim; her 'aapa's' name is Nafiza. DJ is clearly the helper/maid/distant family friend. And it's nice to see Star Plus doing a serial with a muslim lead.
