Aamir Dalvi-His fat to fit story

A dnan Sami losing oodles of weight has been a talking point recently. Once nicknamed 'foot- ball', Aamir Dalvi is another television actor who worked hard at losing weight. He plays the lead protagonist in Saathii Re (Star One). At one point of time, Dalvi weighed over 112 kilos, with a waist line that measured nearly 46 inches. "It was in 1997 that I realised the importance of losing weight if I want- ed to become an actor," says Dalvi. He comments that reading reports about the ailments that hit those who are unfit prompted him to start leading a healthy life. He also admits to being rejected by girls when it came to matters of the heart; "I had proposed to a couple of girls in college but always ended up being rejected. And, I knew the reason when I saw myself in the mirror. I was motivat- ed to shed those extra pounds to get noticed by girls," recalls Dalvi. For the past two years, he has been fol- lowing a strict exercise regime. He now weighs around 76 kilos and claims his waistline is 30 inches. He is content about being disease free and now propagates the 'stay fit' mantra. "Once you keep fit, you start looking and feeling good as well,"says Dalvi. He is against crash-diet- ing, and all kinds of drugs or fat burners to lose weight. "It's not impossible to lose weight but it should be done naturally. Make it a point to exercise regularly without set- ting a target that you will lose a certain amount of weight in a month. If it doesn't happen, one loses motivation. Make fitness a habit for a lifetime, not just short term goal," advises Dalvi as he signs off.
